I have seen BOC many times over the years, and they are truly a great live band and unfortunately largely forgotten and overlooked. They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than many already in there. And Buck Dharma!! What a great guitar player, singer, and song writer. He should be mentioned in discussions of all-time greats. Yes, he is that good!!

live 1981 veteran of the pscychic wars. epic. I mean one of the best smooth, groovey heavy metal with a dash of edge and mayhem guitar solo of the 1970-90's guitar work.

BUCK DHARMA a truely great guitar player, like all really top class bands B.O.C. WERE FANTASTIC LIVE, we used to judge bands on live performance, in the past, studio albums that were good were better live only if the band could really play

Buck Dharma is one of the greatest and most underrated guitar players in all of rock. It's nice to see you doing something other than The Reaper or Burning For You. This song was off their 3rd album, and the first 3 were overlooked quite a bit but in my opinion it is their best stuff. Try Dominance and Submission, ME262, Stairway To The Stars, or Hot Rails To Hell. Some of their older gems from the original 3 albums.

Blue oyster cult is like sonic version of the X files
Their subject matter is strange, mysterious, unsettling and otherworldly
One of my top 5 bands of all time since 1976
Listen to “On Your Feet Or On Your Knees double live album
That’s the album that launched me into their their fascinating universe of music
Buck Dharma is just next level .. he’s very subtle and humble ,not a showboat shredder .. he nonchalantly works his wizardry for the greater good in every single BOC song .. after many years of listening to them ,one day ,I really focused on Buck and his guitar work , when he not in the forefront of a song, he is doing incredible things in the background that serves the song again not a show off ,so you have to hone on his contribution to the songs
Eric Bloom is one of my fave frontmen .. I love his snarly sinister vocals which are a total contrast to Bucks ethereal smooth yet unsettling vocals
Most people are truly missing out on a fantastic band .. they only know the “ Big 3” .. Godzilla, reaper and burnin for you .. all great songs but far from their best , those 3 are the only songs played on the radio because they are more radio friendly
    BÖC ..”on tour forever”😎

Great musician, a Master's degree in music and teacher, but ultimately, a class guy...my buddy's band opened for them and T Rex on the same tour, their 1st killer, live album, On Your Feet or on Your Knees, was recorded. He verified BOC were nice guys‼️

I saw BOC in a tiny bar in Cincinnati around 2008. Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma were the only original members left, but they still killed it. The sound wasn't the best, but it didn't matter. My buddy and I were the youngest people there. This old dude asks us what we're doing there, that we couldn't be BOC fans due to our age, etc. Later he saw me singing along with "Flaming Telepaths," grabbed me by my jacket, said, "You really know this shit!" and dragged me and my friend in the front of the stage. Buck smiled at us at one point as he played his Swiss cheese guitar. Great night, great band.

It's the only song in their entire catalogue that has a lead vocal by someone not in the band (Joey Cerisano). Patti Smith did some backing vocals on some tracks, but Joey Cerisano was a session singer (now deceased, I think) with an amazing voice, who reminds you of Ronnie James Dio. Apparently Albert Bouchard asked Dio (who he knew), and he was happy to do it, but for one reason or another, it never happened. Great track, maybe the heaviest of BOC's career

You have to check out a 1976 live version of This Ain't The Summer Of Love. Not for that song alone, but for the bass solo and "5 Guitars" jam where the drummer steps down from drumming and plays the guitar with the rest of the band. The vocals for the audio could be better, but they're serviceable. At the 2 min 38 sec mark keyboardist Allen Lanier joins in on guitar. Joe Bouchard's bass solo starts at 2 min 50 sec mark and lasts until the 6 min 38 sec mark. My favorite part is when drummer Albert Bouchard joins them on guitar at the 7 min 7 sec mark. Search for, Blue Öyster Cult - This Aint The Summer Of Love (Live) posted by user, bonistik. This is the best quality video I've been able to find of the original 5 members of the band playing 5 Guitars. I wish I had the DVD. Warning: It ends abruptly, missing a few seconds of the final chords.

Well, one year, I headed down to the park to check things out...not expecting a whole lot from our small town festival. Did I ever receive a treat that night... BOC played on a small,"rinky dink" stage in our little park at the festival (They played without any announcement or notice .). The Blue Oyster Cult was a group of aliens from Sirius the Dog star (don't forget my dog fixed and consequent) and their leader was Desdenova the eternal light.

For being live that sounded pretty dang good! the studio version is a bit more awe inspiring though.

Both in the mood for oldies this week ? Good choices I must admit. For this band I would recommend Don't Fear the Reaper the next time.

I first saw the mighty BOC at the Oakland Coliseum around 73 as strapping 14 year old. It was one of those Monsters of Rick shows. Aerosmith headlined it. I had never heard of BOC. They were the 3erd band to play. And you feel the anticipation in the 70,000 people. Then suddenly, they ripping out Hot Rails to Hell. It was 2 hours of the best rock and roll I have ever heard to this day. I have seen them a dozen times. Never a bad moment. And you guys did pick up on what great musicians they all are. Very few bands can match their talent level. They are still touring..and still ripping it up. Suggestion..Veteran of the Psychic Wars, live, 1981. You think the guitar was good here. Wait till you hear that.

Thank you for sharing. I had the chance to witness a rocket launch in 2018. Amazing experience. I uploaded a pretty cool video of the trip to my channel.

Definitely my favorite offering from this criminally underrated band. That Gibson just growled through it all and Metallica did an excellent cover on Garage.

Wow- you are one of the 1% who don't do "Don't fear the Reaper" lol- most people only know that one from BOC. Try "Black Blade", one of my favs.

True. Real BOC fans know there is sooooo much more than The Reaper and Godzilla. They have a great catalogue, especially their early stuff.

For another great Buck Dharma solo, check out Then Came The Last Days Of May from the A Long Day's Night concert. He makes it look so easy....
Not the only great solo on the song either. Allen Lanier was also excellent.

ETI, Veteran of the Psychic Wars, Burnin' for You are some good ones...and you should really check out Don't Fear the Reaper if you never heard it beyond the whole "more cowbell" thing

Picture the very dark arena. Lots of pot & cig smoke. No air conditioning. Everyone just digging it. Ya want a time machine right? Plus LOUD as HELL!

Blue Oyster Cult has some amazing song endings. Sometimes more than one. Check out 7 Screaming Dizbusters from On Your Feet Or On Your Knees. Which ending is the last one? I don’t know
