      Actually it’s us non Bama fans who will be smiling. After a 8-4 or 9-3 season, watching Bama fans scream and cry is gonna be great. And then in 2025 when y’all go 9-3 again, you’re gonna get mad and demand Kalen to be fired. You will expect him to be saban 2.0 and when he isn’t you’ll want him gone. You’re so spoiled and entitled that you really think you deserve 12+ wins a year. Now that saban is gone, Bama won’t disappear. They’ll still be good obviously. But we’ll see if y’all are ok with being just another good 8-4 team instead of the best.

    Kalen DeBoer will be fine. He's a very good coach. I would expect to see Alabama back in the semifinals or even the final of the playoff within four years, and in the meantime, they're not going to fall off the edge of a cliff. I view this as a "Frank Solich at Nebraska" thing -- and for those too young to remember, after Osborne retired in 1997, it took Solich exactly four years (2001) to get Nebraska back to the BCS Championship Game. This was pre-playoff, only 2 teams made it. If there had been a 12 team playoff back then Nebraska would have been in that every year Solich was the coach. Same here: Alabama isn't going to miss the 12 team playoff anytime soon unless they have a Murphy's Law situation and 18 starters in week 1 are out for the season with injury by Week 3.

      DeBoer was horrible at recruiting. I can only recall him once beating Lanning for a local recruit.
      He won with prior coaches' guys at Washington and left the cupboards bare.
      I think this short term is as good as it gets that at least those that haven't left are still high end talent. But if he recruits like he did before in a conference where everyone attacks recruiting like Lanning, he's going to have some ugly classes. Unless NIL suddenly takes off at Bama, this hire is doomed long term.

      Bama fans won't wait 4 years. After the Sayin events Bama fans are already calling for his head. I was hoping Deboer got the job and was on the train until this idiotic move of bringing in the 3rd string QB from Wash and the message it sent to Sayin. This was one of the single dumbest moves I've seen to be honest. Deboer will go 7-5 and 7-5 and be out. I live in Alabama and haven't seen Bama fans this livid in 18 years. What this does is magnify every failure and Bama fans will say, well you let the best QB recruit in Bama history walk for a nobody that you liked. Deboer has no chance at Bama now.

    I am not usually a comment-er but something about this video brought this out in me. Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself (as well as Bama nation) to "settle down and everything will be all right". But from your own channel.... 1) Bama fans don't settle, 2) It is nigh impossible to follow "a legend", 3) Talent on the field is the #1 indicator for success, 4) competing in the PAC-12 is nothing like competing in the SEC, 5) everything is easier when you are winning. If I am counting right there were 8 coaches before Saban and after Bryant averaging 3 years each with only 1 Natty and 3 conference championships between. My sense ( and not to discredit DeBoer) is that there will be quite a few years of unsatisfied Alabama fans. I love your channel. 🖖

    People always tried to smear Saban by saying he only got great players by paying them. We’re seeing now that players were willing to take less NIL money just to play for Saban. Greatness sounds like a corny word to use for a football coach, but I think Saban was great, and would’ve been great no matter what profession he was in. Accordingly, great players wanted to play for him. Bama’s NIL program is not strong, relatively speaking, and will have to improve. Which sucks, because college football is headed toward becoming semi-pro football. And semi-pro football sucks.

    • @ceddie

      When they allowed NIL it became semi pro. It’s pay for play. The schools with the largest collectives gets the best players. Take a look at Texas and Texas A&M. College football as we knew it, is a thing of the past.

It's not supposed to be for players to get paid. If you think college was formed so people could make money in college you would be incorrect. Now, once one gets in the real world, it's different, then I agree with you. Once NIL and portal were created, it changed everything. You can buy a team, that's not what college was intended to be. I hope these players are dead ass broke after football. If that's all the want, then they are lost souls. Money is not everything in the end, but we live in a me me me society and instant gratification. Hell, the NFL has far more rules than college. It's all upside down. As an Ole Miss fan living in Alabama, I've been an interested observer of this process. Mainly I was just relieved Bama left Kiffin alone... Something I've been hearing quite a bit floating around is DeBoer being compared to the last guy to come out of the Northwest to the state of Alabama - a name that still makes Auburn fans shudder. Bryan Harsin. I have my doubts about that comparison, but I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

    • @ceddie
      @ceddie 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Harsin didn’t prove himself while he was at Auburn. Coach DeBoer hasn’t had his first practice at Alabama. So just because people are comparing them on the Internet, doesn’t mean a thing yet. We will have to see what Coach DeBoer actually does before we can compare him to someone else. But I’ll give you my take. Coach DeBoer was just in the Title Game a couple weeks ago, with lesser talent than Texas, the team that he made look silly and confused. I think he will bring that same wizardry to Tuscaloosa. People don’t realize that Coach DeBoer was Saban’s pick for his replacement. That’s still a part of the Process. Saban wanted the OC from Washington, Grubbs. Now he got him and the head coach. Saban is still on campus and more than likely, will be acting as the CEO over the football program. People don’t see the vision. These kids that are jumping ship talking about Saban no longer being the coach, they don’t see that Saban is still there and will still be a part of the program. And you better believe when practice starts, Saban will be on the sidelines watching from afar, still giving out nuggets to the new staff and players. Bama football isn’t going anywhere. It just got younger and hungrier. That’s all. RTR!!!

It's not their fault, once the portal and nil went into effect, it was the kiss of death. Obviously kids are going to take the most money and best cars and all those things. They need farm leages like in baseball, AAA, AA.

But always knew this day was coming so that's why I never took this epic Bama/Saban run or dynasty for granted. I savored every victory and rarely talked smack. I just hope the suits at Bama realize DeBoer needs time and he also needs them to step up in the NIL game. The mass exodus of players is greatly due to all these 5star and blue chip players took a huge discount off their NIL deals to play for Saban and his staff... now he's gone and the university needs to match or best other programs in the NIL game. Plus I hope this helps to show the rule makers in NCAA football change HAS to happen SOON. here's to the future of my beloved Tide and to the sport I love watching. RTR!

They have believed for so long that all these guys just wanted to be at Alabama because its Alabama and its funny to see them have to come to the realization that Alabama is no different than any other school, they are not special. Alabama had the greatest college football coach for almost 20 years the real world is now catching up to them.

    The big question here though Josh is: Are the big money boosters going to have the patience to wait 2-3 years for Debar to get his feet under him? Now that Julian Sayin is in the portal their offensive building block is gone...so Bama will have to rebuild using the Spring Portal guys, but those guys are going to be the ones that FAIL to make the two-deep at their current school, not exactly the cream of the portal crop. This puts a big onus on recruiting, which DeBoer hasn't exactly been a rock star at, as he's built most notably Washington into what they were through the portal (see my previous sentence). I'm not entirely sure Bama can lose 3-4 games and still make the Playoffs (look at what happened to FSU without their QB) so a 3-4 loss Bama team that looks mediocre from the eye test won't make the CFP. How many seasons do the Big Money Boosters give DeBoer? Especially if he can't recruit in the cutthroat SEC and bring in a top 10 recruiting class on a consistent basis? If they can wait it out and give him 4-5 seasons to establish himself then I think he'll be fine...but when 10's of Millions of dollars are being thrown around, instant results are (unfairly) expected.

    Yep, it's fun for opposing fans to unleash 17 years worth of frustration trolling, but the reality is that this is the state of the sport right now and if it happens to Bama it will also happen to any other program that loses a coach. The other aspect to it is that while the portal is ravaging Bama's roster at the moment, its also going to be a major tool for DeBoer's staff in the spring. Major rebuilds can happen in months rather than years in today's version of college football.

And yes, as much as the gators can lick my dirty dog's butt crack. I hate Bama almost as much so I'm happy to see that those fans are in for a rude awakening now.
