On the spear charge at 10:30 - the game won't put you in the spear insta-kill animation if doing so would put you in danger of a zombie attack. (This applies to regular and spear charge.) The spear charge essentially just guarantees the spear insta-kill animation. Because all the zombies you were running at were close to other zombies, an insta-kill would have put you at risk of a zombie striking you, so the game didn't trigger the animation.
On a somewhat related note, you're also more likely to get the insta-kill animation at a certain range with the spear. This is typically just before the zombie is technically within range. As i understand the 4-log Stack thing, encumberance is a combination of the weight of an item *and* how difficult it is to hold/carry. 4 loose logs is much more of a hassle than the same 4 logs tightly lashed together.
You can put one of anything in a car seat, no matter the size. Antique ovens, water coolers, beds, doesn't matter how big 1 item is, the car seat will take it.
Note; item removel through garbage bins only works if that setting is enabled. Also car seats can hold almost any item if they are heavier (like a fridge or something) but you can only store 1 item.
2:10 It's not really like that. The 50% increase you got is not due to the type of food, but do to the fact you were working out with a full stomac (well fed moodle).
7:55 I'd say that this mostly applies in the logic that it's "faster" to get to a manageable offroad speed, because reversing provides your vehicle with more torque, as the reverse gear is typically larger, especially the case for heavier vehicles, not so important for light vehicles, especially performance vehicles - this is also handy to know when you get bogged down by a horde, as reversing instead of powering through from the front can sometimes save your skin. (granted you didn't take sunday driver) so I suppose the original statement is not entirely wrong.
@@tibinicle As you said, when i go offroad and turn i often had to release the throttle and then push back down so that the game will switch back to first gear for me. Going in reverse avoids this problem.
Placing a wood floor tile over water and covering with dirt makes a walkable tile that appears as water. (Note graphics settings have an affect on this exploit)
I think sprinting definitely reduces your odds of burning on fire tiles. You're just jogging. I don't know that you're 100% safe. Just that if you have to cross fire, that seems to be the best option.
7:35 you can also do the same thing with wheely bins, as theyre just barelt big enough to fit them. thats how i get rid of dead zombies around my base all the time
2:15 This bonus is multiplicative to all others. But it's important not to overdo it with a high-protein diet. Exceeding the protein reserve of 300 units will disable this bonus.
@walnzell9328 Basically if your character gas a certain amount of protein in them they get extra bonus from workouts. If you have too much protein however, you lose that bonus.
Bonus tip to the log stacks: If you find regular Rope items, they do the same job, but weigh a lot less than the sheet ropes pre-stacking. 0.3 per rope isntead of 0.8 for a sheet rope.
Purely anecdotally, every time I get off road (with Sunday driver) my car slows significantly in trees and shrubs but whenever I drive in reverse it’s consistently faster than going forward
Looking at the driving over zombies part and not damaging your car. When rolling on grass the car constantly check for a chance at getting damaged And then bouncing at top speeds and slamming against the pavement is what probably damaged the suspension and muffler. I’d asses from those tests, rather than rolling over the zombie
8:00 it is faster to drive reverse off road whenever zomboid is doing the thing where your car will randomly slow down to 1 mph for literally no reason, for some reason reversing prevents the bug from what ive seen.
7:50 my guess its a must in case scenario if you have no ground to dig a grave or have no fuel to burn the bodys *AND* not have the patience to wait for the body to decompose on its own xD
14:14 I have more than 1.000 hours in this game, and I guess I've never tried holding down F, because I had no idea there was a radial menu for lights lol
The squats change animations a little too. At low level, the knees shake when you come back up. This goes away at higher fitness but not sure the exact level.
Just keep the water in the oven. It consumes water as you do it. It also has to be boiling so once it cools down you won’t be able to do it anymore. So if you doing a large batch of rags or bandages it won’t stop in the middle of disintegrating them.
You still have to attack, it isn't about running into them. I think moving in their direction while attacking does more damage in general. Not positive tho
The damage to your car driving over zombies makes sense. Rocking around like that would damage the suspension, so I'm guessing faster speeds are going to damage it more. And driving over them to begin with would probably damage things on the underside of the vehicle, so the muffler getting damaged makes total sense. Wouldn't be surprised if it also messed up the gas tank.
Foraging is penalized from ANY equipment or clothes that go on or over your face (glasses, face bandana, motorcycle helmet), but the degree at which is does depends on the equipment. You can also boost your effectiveness by crouching as you forage.
For the generator one, you can actually put pretty much any heavy item in a car seat as long as there isn't anything else in the seat. This includes things like cast iron ovens and fully loaded backpacks.
I'm pretty sure you can disinfect rags in just water and since a filled saucepan acts as a water source, you can disinfect it in any water but I'm too lazy to double check.
The whole corpses damaging your car is more about the short air time you get from it. However, the real risk is hitting a corpse pile at highway speeds, as you're going to get a LOT of air time, in which you'll have 0 control over the vehicle and be liable to fly into a building/tree or just straight up flip. Another thing worth noting is about the reversing offroad thing, what's probably happened is someone was moving forward in 2nd/3rd gear and the car slowed down substantially as it just kinda does in anything other than 1st usually, the real trick is to back off the cruise control and manually accelerate, any time it goes over 1st release the gas and let the RPM drop then tap it again and you should be back in first, god I wish there were manual gear control options in game.
i feel like the player zombie one might depend on the dead players strength stat, like if strength was maxed out, they might be able to get up with you standing on them
Regarding the #4 myth, its actually a little more complex that that. being protein deficient will actually give you a negative modifier on strength gain and having positive protein surplus will give yo an XP boost
Backing up in a car through zombies *IS* in fact faster, but being on grass it doesn’t matter much, sometimes your vehicle can get stuck in grass going forward and backing up while still slow you’ll rarely get stuck.
the reverse offroad thing is kinda true, you wont be faster but you wont get stuck in reverse, same with other instances like towing cars. reverse gear sometimes actually does work better in some cases
13:51 you can even go more crazy. If you use Organized trait and have 3 militairy bags. These militairy bags have 36 place with organized. So they can fit 3 4stack logs. Now put a bag in each hand and one on your back. You can then also carry like 3 more in your inventory. This way you can carry 12 4stack logs. Or a total of 48 logs at once..... Its somewhat insane. But its also hard to setup. You ofcourse need organized trait and 3 militairy bags(these are rare). The other bag gets 35 spaces so it doesnt work. You need the militairy ones with 36 for this to work...
There is something about reverse thats OP. If youre running into zombies it slows you but if you reverse you can plow through them. Same goes for towing; if you are pulling forward especially offroad its so slow, but if you reverse it really picks up speed and you can move things much easier in reverse.
12:05 not only generators fit into a sit. A seat can hold a single item of any size as long as it is just a single item. And a backpack full of loot is counted as single item. So if you have spare large backpacks and spare seats you can combine the two to get more cargo space in a vehicle.
The off roader actually does work. But this is only when you get stuck between 2 tree sapplings and when you reverse you can get out a sticky situation and potentially save your life
The generator, and the wood logs ones I didn't know until know and they're so useful. I've been playing for over a year and I'm still learning new stuff about this game
I'm not entirely sure how the fitness multiplier works, but I'm pretty sure you need positive protein values to build muscle faster. There are mods that let you see the hidden player values like exact calories, proteins, carbs, and fats/oils. I've found maintaining positive protein values extremely difficult in this game, particularly after the power goes out, and meat becomes scarce. I also don't know how it is I can eat several bowls of rice and potatoes, and still have low carbs. It's been challenging to keep his weight from going down. I wish I had that problem in real life. It's so easy to put weight on IRL.
Btw for the second to last one, the waters to be hot and after a while it gets cold when taken out of the oven. So just craft them while you’re looking in the over. While it’s on, of course and you can continue crafting sterile till you run out of water
For the cleaning blood one, I haven't tested it myself, but I know that a sterilized rag acts like a bandage. It might have worked if a dirty rag, or a ripped sheet was used.
The log stack thing is huge. I can't believe I didn't spot that. I could fit SO MANY LOGS into a duffel like that. Sounds like a massive ton of weight to carry but folks have to remember that PZ doesn't use "weight." It says "encumbrance." It's an abstract combination of mass and volume that gives you a rough idea of how cumbersome an item is to carry. That's why backpacks reduce that encumbrance: they don't actually make stuff weigh less but they free up your hands.
Zombies can hold other zombies down But if you push a zombie and let a horde walk on that zombie, there's a moderate chance that once the horde passes, the zombie will just start crawling
Addition: You can leave the pot of water in the oven when sterilizing bandages/rags. This way you make sure it stays hot in case you're doing more than only 3-4 pieces, otherwise it *can* happen that it cools down, interrupting the process of sterilizing.
The driving in reverse 100% works if your car is ever weighted down or wont go very good in the mud or off road/reverse will get you out easily. Every time I go the rose wood military base and load up my vehicle is usually to heavy to go forward and I have to drive out the whole way in reverse .
I think the reverse thing when offroad is only for people with sunday driver. Tbh never picked that one up because it seems like a pretty big liability lol
For the fire run, I may be mistaken, but it looked like you only jogged (shift) not sprinted (alt). Not sure if it changes the result, but perhaps another test is needed?
I didn't know about the F radial menu and I have almost 3k hours in the game lol. Thanks for that one!! I learned the log trick early on. It frustrates me when I watch playthroughs of people not using it 😅 It's even great for adding logs into a truck for large projects. I just make a bunch of rope then drop them onto the ground near the trunk. As I put logs in, I pick up the rope needed and repeat. Something else I learned is that actual rope weighs less than the rope made from cloth. Great video. Subbed
@@Awpenheimer Especially if you carry the log stacks to where you plan to build something and turn them into planks There, instead of having to haul a bunch of planks around everywhere...
7:16 i dont think you did that test long enough, driving will damage the tires, but its slow, and very slow on asphalt, the small sample doesnt really work that well, but fair, driving over corpses, hitting buildings and other vehicles, and running over zombies does way more damage
You can also safely sit on a zombie. Can't you cut trees down with any weapon? I though they are deastroyable terrain, like doors. They just have a special interaction with axes.
Idk if this counts as a tip but if people don't already know you can also place flashlights on your belt and toggle the light on and off with F. Freeing your hands
In one of my playthroughs i literred part of the highway with zombie corpses (i was tired of crashing into zombies i could see and avoid in a 3D environment). I drove over them at higher speeds. Yes they damage the parts of your car that are close to the ground or responsible for the vehicle sticking to the road. Tyres, Suspension... Muffler... All that gets damaged. Heck driving too fast over a pile of zombie corpses even gets your car flipped.
That is not the corpses themselves damaging the parts, but that the car/tire went into the air and then made contact with the ground again that damages them. Even if it's a short hop. If you drive slowly over corpses you'll be fine.
Im pretty sure you can also place a firepit inside and light it as long as its two tiles away from any nearby walls. Unsure if a secondstory above will catch on firethough.
it might be possible that for cleaning blood it would have to be a regular non-sterilized rag, since sterilized rags ive noticed are barred from use in every other thing that regular rags could be used for
This Insta Kill thing, charging at zombies with a spear, although doesn't it doesn't seem to work, does however, seem to allow you to clip right through the zombies. Makes me wonder if you can clip through full on hordes this way...

@@tibinicle As you said, when i go offroad and turn i often had to release the throttle and then push back down so that the game will switch back to first gear for me. Going in reverse avoids this problem.
the radio one could be semi useful for distracting zombies and keeping them away from somewhere you wanna be, hmm...
The candle one might be an extension of the requirement of molotovs. You can't light them by match; has to be a lighter.
Ohh it's because you need two hands to operate matches
Placing a wood floor tile over water and covering with dirt makes a walkable tile that appears as water. (Note graphics settings have an affect on this exploit)
Traveling in reverse doesn't increase your speed but your torque try it driving though thick grass with a trailer it is a life saver
I didnt even know about the log stacks and the reduction in weight. That is a game changer for me.
4:55 the suspension and muffler condition only goes down because it's condition goes down over time. Not because you drove over zombies
Idk man I have ruined a gas tank hauling a car.
Its also due to when you hit boids at a speed your car bounces off the pavement, that's why you see him lose control after a fast pass.
7:57 it applies to heavier cars that have trouble moving on the grass
I think sprinting definitely reduces your odds of burning on fire tiles. You're just jogging. I don't know that you're 100% safe. Just that if you have to cross fire, that seems to be the best option.
7:35 you can also do the same thing with wheely bins, as theyre just barelt big enough to fit them. thats how i get rid of dead zombies around my base all the time
2:15 This bonus is multiplicative to all others. But it's important not to overdo it with a high-protein diet. Exceeding the protein reserve of 300 units will disable this bonus.
I wish I understood what you were saying.
@walnzell9328
Basically if your character gas a certain amount of protein in them they get extra bonus from workouts. If you have too much protein however, you lose that bonus.
How to lose protein...?
I ate too much meat, how to lose protein?
What you are saying is work out an hour a day then peanut butter? And don't do it multiple times a day?
pretty confident that the first one is talking about multiplayer, not your own body in single player
Players automatically get up the nanosecond they’re not under a car. Hard to test, probably true.
@@bradley4465 Its referring to when you keep playing on the same save after being zombified, with a new character fighting your old one for loot.
Bonus tip to the log stacks: If you find regular Rope items, they do the same job, but weigh a lot less than the sheet ropes pre-stacking. 0.3 per rope isntead of 0.8 for a sheet rope.
1:10 can also be proved with the mod Simple Status wherein it displays the 1.5x strength gain from eating enough protein
Purely anecdotally, every time I get off road (with Sunday driver) my car slows significantly in trees and shrubs but whenever I drive in reverse it’s consistently faster than going forward
Looking at the driving over zombies part and not damaging your car.
When rolling on grass the car constantly check for a chance at getting damaged
And then bouncing at top speeds and slamming against the pavement is what probably damaged the suspension and muffler. I’d asses from those tests, rather than rolling over the zombie
You can't light molotov cocktails with just matches.
14:14 I have more than 1.000 hours in this game, and I guess I've never tried holding down F, because I had no idea there was a radial menu for lights lol
myth: triggering a bomb in your inventory, backpack or a container with a remote trigger will still detonate the bomb
The squats change animations a little too. At low level, the knees shake when you come back up. This goes away at higher fitness but not sure the exact level.
Sterilizing bandages with boiling water is sick! Didn't know that one. Definitely going to give it a try after work.
Just keep the water in the oven. It consumes water as you do it. It also has to be boiling so once it cools down you won’t be able to do it anymore. So if you doing a large batch of rags or bandages it won’t stop in the middle of disintegrating them.
The instakill on spear is true. You are probably on debug mode or something and so you can't hit them
You still have to attack, it isn't about running into them. I think moving in their direction while attacking does more damage in general. Not positive tho
Can confirm the running spear is a move and that it's most likely because of the debug mode.
You can actually put any single item into a car seat like that. It doesn’t have to be a generator.
You need to boil the water and then you can disinfect rags and bandages
10:10 what about turning off ghost mode in order to try that, genius?
Never knew that about peanut butter! I WILL BE ABUSING THAT THANK YOU!
14:50 So that's how I get my clean rags from dirty rags. Thank you.
i feel like the player zombie one might depend on the dead players strength stat, like if strength was maxed out, they might be able to get up with you standing on them
I've popped tires by driving over zombie corpses... granted it was an excessive amount of corpses, but it's something to watch out for.
You are criminally underated my dude, hope your channel blows up once the build 42 is out
@@comfykruczek appreciate it bruh!!
the reverse offroad thing is kinda true, you wont be faster but you wont get stuck in reverse, same with other instances like towing cars. reverse gear sometimes actually does work better in some cases
I think that last one may have been confused with molotovs. You can't hold a molotov in one hand, matches in the other, and also light the molotov.
Not only generators, but you can place other large heavy objects on empty seats even if it exceeds the capacity
It's so easy to put weight on IRL.
here's one for you ; you can recover stamina while sawing off logs by sitting on the ground before sawing.
Wow! Great information. I have over 6000 hours and didn't know most of these tricks/myths. Thanks for sharing.
@@flee8355 awesome!! Glad i could help :)
Zombies can hold other zombies down
But if you push a zombie and let a horde walk on that zombie, there's a moderate chance that once the horde passes, the zombie will just start crawling
I did not know log stacks weigh significantly less, I'll have to remember to bring some cloth strips next time I go woodcutting.
Depending on the vehicle, yes, you CAN be faster while reversing rather than going forward
Addition: You can leave the pot of water in the oven when sterilizing bandages/rags. This way you make sure it stays hot in case you're doing more than only 3-4 pieces, otherwise it *can* happen that it cools down, interrupting the process of sterilizing.
Generators in empty seats isn't just for generators, it's any large object. Overfull bags, stoves, ovens, etc
I have noticed that holding any item directly in one of the hands will lower its overall weight. it makes sense too.
For the fire run, I may be mistaken, but it looked like you only jogged (shift) not sprinted (alt). Not sure if it changes the result, but perhaps another test is needed?
Yeahh I believe you are right on that
I didn't know about the F radial menu and I have almost 3k hours in the game lol. Thanks for that one!!
I learned the log trick early on. It frustrates me when I watch playthroughs of people not using it 😅
It's even great for adding logs into a truck for large projects. I just make a bunch of rope then drop them onto the ground near the trunk. As I put logs in, I pick up the rope needed and repeat.
Something else I learned is that actual rope weighs less than the rope made from cloth.
Great video. Subbed
Glad you learnt something! Yeahh such a time saver.
Thanks!!
@@Awpenheimer Especially if you carry the log stacks to where you plan to build something and turn them into planks There, instead of having to haul a bunch of planks around everywhere...
Useful tests, specially the 4 log tied one on the main hand, no more back hernias 😂
Freeing your hands
your seriously underrated man
keep up the good work!
Thanks!!!
If you drive slowly over corpses you'll be fine.
the generator thing can also apply to heavy large objects like TVs
Im pretty sure you can also place a firepit inside and light it as long as its two tiles away from any nearby walls. Unsure if a secondstory above will catch on firethough.
Thanks for all the myth testing and busting! 😊
it might be possible that for cleaning blood it would have to be a regular non-sterilized rag, since sterilized rags ive noticed are barred from use in every other thing that regular rags could be used for
Cleaning blood requires bleach and a mop.
"You can put corpses in a trash and delete them"
Wait, you can DELETE things you put in a trash?!
Yeahh 👌🏽
3:08
You weren’t running. You were jogging.
This Insta Kill thing, charging at zombies with a spear, although doesn't it doesn't seem to work, does however, seem to allow you to clip right through the zombies. Makes me wonder if you can clip through full on hordes this way...
killer video, thanks for making it! i genuinely wanna play zomboid again
ayy glad you enjoyed it!!!
Hitting trees with meat cleaver was my 1st try on getting woods i didn't even no there was a. Axe.
