What a fantastic ambassador for the game. I am a proud Brit and always want British players to win in any sport, with this one exception. I want Phil to win no matter who he is playing and would give anything to see him finally win a US Open. This man is rightly loved by sports fans all over the world.
Today we've seen this wonderful golfer win the British Open. I've commented previously on this thread that although I'm a loyal Brit I always want Phil to win, and today he won with style and steel. Sometimes we ask too much if our sporting heroes. It's not enough for us that they are good at their sport, we want them to be good people too, and they don't always measure up. Here is one man who does. A great player and a very fine human being. US Open next year Lefty!

I laugh when people call this guy phony. His manager and caddy tear up over him...His wife is so clearly in love with him... His kids hug him like they haven't seen him in years... Yes, I'm sure he's a terrible, fake person. LOL. Emotional/sentimental/caring? Yeah. Phony? No. I think he likes to be liked, but I doubt he would ever change who he is deep down as a person to get people to like him.
