I won’t give my conclusion of your review, just like you didn’t give a conclusion as to which car you were shocked you liked more.
Just bought a base 2023 WRX today. Absolutely love that car. I had an Si before the WRX and the WRX drives so much better and is so much smoother. The thing I like the most about my WRX is there's no rev hang. Si had tons of it and it drove me absolutely bonkers. WRX is so much fun to drive since it doesn't have any rev hang. Thank you Subaru for fixing the rev hang issue in the WRX's (something Honda should've done a long time ago and should still do). It makes the car so much more fun to drive without the rev hang. The rev hang is one of the reasons I got rid of the Si and I'm much happier with my WRX. My favourite car I've had and I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Such a fun car to drive.

I also live in NE and have been doing just fine thanks to a set of Blizzaks. Driving through the snow in my Bright red BRZ has been a lot of fun.
I cross shopped both of these along with Miata. Really wanted to have awd sporty car to round out my driving experience but I’m a sucker for lightweight rwd sports car. The Miata was a little more fun but BRZ has actual storage. No issues getting large grocery order. The BRZ provides all the feels I look for and enough power to b enjoyable. Would buy another if anything happens to current car
I ended up going Miata, but the lack of space is becoming more and more problematic. Would you say the BRZ or WRX is more bumpy than the Miata? I could not find any dealerships nearby to allow to test drive BRZ or WRX. That's why I ended up with Miata since I could test drive really any Mazda I wanted at the local dealership.
@@tcc5750 the BRZ has surprisingly soft suspension. It’s ride is smoother than my wife’s SUV and great on long road trips. The 86 is noticeably more jarring than either BRZ or MX5.

As of yesterday, I own a 2022 BRZ Limited, and a 2023 WRX GT. The GT is like....light years faster. If you pop the WRX into SI+ it's scary acceleration from 0. The comparison between the BRZ and WRX makes perfect sense to me. I'm actually trying to decide between the two myself. The reason is, there just aren't a lot of fun, high quality cars on the market right now in this price range, and Subaru just happens to have two. For some reason the only vehicles every manufacturer seems interested in selling are SUVs, crossovers, and cars that look like an SUV or crossover. @@clintonrodriguez9771 That's exactly where I was. I have a Forester too, so this didn't have to be very practical. That said, I test drove a Miata too, and just couldn't see how that would work with NO room in the cockpit for anything. Jackets, wife's purse, etc, all has to pretty much go in the footwells. The back seats on the BRZ are mostly uninhabitable (squeezed a single passenger in there once), but they are great for jackets, and anything you want to be able to grab without getting out of the car. Also in choosing the BRZ over the WRX, I wanted, for once, to choose a light RWD car built on a dedicated platform, vs something designed to be 10 different flavors depending on mods. I'd already had a Civic Si, and the WRX is an Impreza on steroids. Nothing wrong with those cars, but I'd never had a great time/circumstance to just go for the dedicated design until I pulled the trigger on this. Got a great deal - it was still on the lot in January of '18. Sadly, it is difficult to even find the new gen BRZ/GT86 on a dealer lot.
Crazy right? You can buy L certified Lexus RC/RX/IS for 30-35K with 30K ish miles. Much more stylish, luxurious, and reliable than Subarus I feel like...
The base (premium 🙄) WRX starts lower (under 30k USD - maybe he meant CAD) than the limited BRZ. Only when you option it does it get that high. Shit the base ecoboost is the price of a BRZ. But once you go Premium the price rockets up 5k (and the premium is Much better than the base - least they finally added a touch display -_-). If you want it convertible (add over 6k since it doesn't come in base models), auto tranny (add 1.6k), the high performance package which also adds magnaride and dual exhaust (add 6.1k), the digital cluster (add 2.8k), speaker upgrade (add 1k), you end up over 50k before a spoiler and blackout options, wheels or paints. Nevermind if you want the V8...you might as well just try for a GT-350, or at least a Mach1 if you're going fully loaded.
Which car of the two has the stiffer suspension? Is WRX more comfort than BRZ? I'm looking of buying a BRZ but i have driven only the previous one. I would like to know some information about its suspension. The place i live has not good roads and i would like my car not to be very hard.
recently sold my GR86 for a wrx limited manual and i think the 86 was stiffer but it's fairly similar between the two. neither are particularly soft lol
Very silly that you never concluded which one you like better. It is actually in the title of your video. The video was useless if we wanted your opinion...
Fuel economy stats for turbo car can not directly compared to none turbo car. The stats you see are turbo cars without turbo kicking in. I get 0-10% lower than factory claimed on turbo cars. I get 15-30% better fuel economy in na cars. Engine doesn't make a whole lot of difference in fuel economy especially mass produce models. Aero makes the most difference in high speed and weight makes the most difference in low speed.
The BRZ dash display looks like a cheap video game, especially when in a mode where the tachometer is on. I like the overall styling of the car, but *everything* about the WRX seems to be several steps above the BRZ. $6K is a chunk of change, but the car is more premium, more practical, AWD, etc. I doubt if anyone would experience any buyer's remorse for stepping up to it.
😂 it's called tuning. That's why the engine is different. A engine plus a turbo and tuning. These two things can really change a car. The wrx is also de-tuned from Subaru. Which is why you can make about 50 hp with a tune and almost another 50 with bolt ons. Subaru themselves have stated they made this car for tuning. I don't know how "reviewers" like you miss this. 😂
I was actually torn between these 2 cars myself. The WRX is the more practical choice for sure. I just wasnt sold on the looks so I ordered a BRZ a year ago. I have since taken a WRX for a test drive to see what I might be missing out on. I was VERY unimpressed with the WRX. Even though on paper it makes more power, it is also much heavier, revs lower, and the AWD creates more drivetrain power loss. The result is the BRZ is 1000 times more fun to drive. I am sooo glad I didnt buy the WRX. To solve the practicality problem, I also just ordered the Impreza RS. Why compromise with 1 car, when 2 is better. !!
I recently went for an Ikea run with my BRZ and had no problem fitting flattened furniture in the back. And it's not the first time I've easily transported furniture. Practicality is overlooked or underestimated for small cars in general IMO. Most people don't need the amount of space they buy.
@@WhatisaLee The BRZ can definitely carry some stuff. Just not more than 2 people. I find the backseats completely useless, even for children. With good winter tires it can drive in light snow too, but its too low to deal with more than a few inches. Those reasons gave me an excuse to buy another subaru, one with AWD. Lol
@@SacredCASHcow I didnt "have" to. But I wanted a real performance car which to me only exists in RWD. I also wanted a great useable daily drive that my kids could drive and has room to haul stuff, which is what makes hatchbacks great. Since subaru sucks and doesnt give a wrx hatch and just this overly cladded goofy looking sedan, that ruled that out as well. So my logic was, why settle for 1 half assed vehicle when I can have 2 and get exactly what I want?
@boost331 I don't agree with the hivemind about the looks. I just ordered a wrx 2023, and I don't even have kids. I just like having backseats. I also feel like power is not that important to me. I don't want a speeding ticket. I do want good handling, awd, etc.
More fun to drive? 😂. You can’t be serious. The BRZ is a legitimate sports car with 600lbs less weight, much lower COG, shorter wheelbase, much better steering feel, much better transmition, much better seating position, and a more responsive high revving motor.
@@mistamaog Sure they did. It's objectively uglier from every angle. Not to mention CVT only for the highest trim? What's that garbage? Belongs nowhere near a sports car. They're turning it into a gutless family car.
@@BRZguy CVT only for the GT model, you're right, terrible idea, plus it costs too much. Even the limited trim is a bit much. Hello! Quick question, I can not seem to get my rev match down shifts down from 3rd to 2nd gear in my wrx. I was wondering if you had any suggestions that would help?
You just have to blip harder (a lot harder imo) from 3->2. 6 to5, 5to4, 4to3 are all about the same light blip, but 3to2 and 2to1 require a way larger blip (Would guess it has to do with gearing) for it to be smooth. Also, a louder exhaust may help you learn it quicker/easier as you'll have an auditory cue to accompany your foot cue.
Yeah you really didn't drive anywhere the only thing that was kind of annoying about this is you literally went in 1 circle didn't have time to elaborate on both cars. And the Fa24 revs better in the WRX because it is using a different Tune then in the BRZ which has rev delay

39,000 is pretty high. 2022 is 33,000!!
Crazy right? You can buy L certified Lexus RC/RX/IS for 30-35K with 30K ish miles. Much more stylish, luxurious, and reliable than Subarus I feel like...
That's the only thing that makes sense in a used WRX compared to a new BRZ.
Not for a 2022 limited. Those are 38,000
The WRX also had an optional $1200 exhaust upgrade option
Wait i dont have that carbon fiber piece on the truck? Subaru sell those? Mine is just piano black i have the sport tech manual
Does the automatic with the performance transmission have different drive modes unlike the manual wrx u showed?
I've never heard the term blippable before now.
i'm in slc too! cheers!
I'll take both
BRZ is a lot better looking car, lighter and sporty. I pass on the WRX not my type at all.
Can't you talk any FASTER???!!!!
Turbos are boring to drive n/a is always more fun
Why not both?
wrx would be perfect with a higher 7k redline & hatch/lift vs. the trunk.
Or if we got the wagon that Japan and Australia get, but with a manual and of course the higher redline
@@mistamaog high compression pistons import? :)
@@mistamaog I'd take a hatch almost every time, but the new body style hatch looks horrible to me lol
I love my 2023 wrx
You never mentioned which one you liked more though :/
Brz is a lot better looking and fun to drive car than the WRX
Lol
You answered it yourself. If you have to purchase 2 cars then that's all I needed to know
@@SacredCASHcow I didnt "have" to.
What does blippable mean?
I want both
I would like to test drive both
WRX more practical and way more fun to drive! Especially in snow!
More fun to drive? 😂. You can’t be serious. The BRZ is a legitimate sports car with 600lbs less weight, much lower COG, shorter wheelbase, much better steering feel, much better transmition, much better seating position, and a more responsive high revving motor.

They really dropped the ball with this gen WRX.
They really didn't though
@@mistamaog Sure they did. It's objectively uglier from every angle. Not to mention CVT only for the highest trim? What's that garbage? Belongs nowhere near a sports car. They're turning it into a gutless family car.
@@BRZguy CVT only for the GT model, you're right, terrible idea, plus it costs too much. Even the limited trim is a bit much.
Looks are subjective, to me it looks better in person, except for the rear bumper. The fenders I already got used to, and now even Porsche is adding them to their off road 911.
I wouldn't say they dropped the ball though because there's really no other AWD 4 door sedan for under $40k with a manual.
@@mistamaog I've seen em in person too and I just can't get over all the cheap plastic trim they have everywhere. Reminds me of an early 00's econobox.
And the proportions of the last gen were just better. On this one, the grille is too big, the headlights are too far apart, rear bumper plastic takes up too much vertical space. They dropped the ball relative to the previous gen.
Used to have a VA before getting a Supra - you hit the nail on the head, as did the other guy. Every generation it inches closer towards full on Corolla family car.
Ben: WRX or GR Corolla?
It's weird I guess because both are speedy cars. I guess it depends on practicality?
The BRZ won't do you much good in 6 inches of snow.
yea but which is faster in a straight line?
Stock for stock, WRX with an adequate launch should be quicker than the BRZ. Though, im sure the BRZ is quicker off a roll
@@BDA0531 Wrong. 2022+ BRZ/GR86 is actually quicker than the 2022+ WRX both from a dead stop and from a roll.
@@moldyrefrigerator Pls link me the vid that shows a BRZ beating a VB WRX from a launch stock for stock. Because if youre going by 0-60 numbers the VB WRX requires a 3rd shift to hit 60 so its abit inaccurate

Yes, bigger blip and or let the clutch out faster once you hit the throttle before the rpm’s drop. 3rd to 2nd is hardest for me to get smooth too.
This is the weirdest comparison I've seen all day.
LOL
And your conclusion that you were shocked about????
So basically if your a loser you like the brz, and other way around for the wrx
Yeah you really didn't drive anywhere the only thing that was kind of annoying about this is you literally went in 1 circle didn't have time to elaborate on both cars. And the Fa24 revs better in the WRX because it is using a different Tune then in the BRZ which has rev delay
That WRX is a 2022.
There is no difference
@@steve8803 The only reported difference to date is the price increase of $1,025.00. The fact that the reviewer can’t properly identify the car he is reviewing is the major concern, I’m pointing out.

I would be so pissed if someone working for the dealer broke the break in period shit from the manual. Literally one of the best parts of buying new is knowing it was broken in just for some idiot to break that in the first 10 miles
