This is probably the best video I’ve seen from a runner/content creator. I was definitely thinking that it was going to come off like cocky, “oh I know I’m the best”, etc. But this was mad honest and precise. I want this guy to win now.
Started running 6 months ago to get into some shape and ran a 5:25 1500 at my first meet. 3 months later, I've run 4:57, looking to get under 4:30 by the end of the season. Seriously an insane inspiration man, super down to earth, realistic videos as well.
Dawg. This is sick af. At the start of the year I was running decent (25 flat 8k), and then got injured. I had such high goals for the season and I wasn't even able to run at Regionals for my team cuz of my injuries. Appreciate this extra bit of motivation right here. Hoping I can sneak into the 14 lows this spring!
25 would be my dream. My PR is mid-28 for 5 miles. I am now 39 years old and am hunting for a PR again after 12 years off from running. It is all perspective.
I ran 4:27 last summer after missing states a month before because I wasn’t prepared. I’m set on winning a state chip in the mile and breaking 4:10, my coaches think I’m a little unrealistic but they’re helping me train towards it. I am doing whatever it takes to be the best at all cost. You must be all in if you want to be great at this sport.
You have splashed out great videos. Your work ethic, honesty, humbleness sold the bill. Congratulations on your accomplishments, all the best, especially the mental health well-being. Keep hammering on!
Your an inspiration man im a freshmen in high school running a 17:30 3 mile and a 5 flat mile with my main goal getting a xc scholarship and this helped me to realize I need to stay hungry to reach my goals and go all in Thank you Yaseen
just wanted to say that I like your attitude and I find you to be very inspirational. all throughout my running career I’ve been told that I set goals that are unreachable for me. but that’s the whole point. you’re never gonna be better if you don’t believe in yourself as better. you must have the mindset that you’re faster than everyone you race against, even if it’s not true. confidence is key in the running world
Ong this motivated me. I started running a month ago or so after a year long injury and ran a 5:30 a week ago(previous pr was like 5:45), wanted to break 5:00 this season but imma set my goal for like a sub 4:40 now! W motivation.
i got hurt in august after the best training i’ve ever had in my life. i went from not being able to make varsity sophomore year to having goals helping lead our team to a top 10 finish at the state meet, which our team has only made once in the last 15 years. couldn’t walk for about 2 weeks and once i could walk again i tried to run but i couldn’t make it any farther than a mile or 2. once i finally got healthy enough, i had lost everything that i had gained from the 50 mile weeks all summer. ended up at least making something out of the season pr’ing by a minute off of 5 total workouts from august 10th until october 29th running 5 days a week because if i ran any more than that my leg would be in so much pain that there was no amount of ibuprofen that could get it down to a pain level where i could at least sleep at night and stepping up at regionals, placing in the spot which our number 5 guy was supposed to get, but we just missed states. some people would be okay with dropping a minute from their time the year before, but not me. it takes a certain level of self confidence to believe that you can be great, some would describe it as cockiness but without it, i don’t know what why anyone would put their all into something.
Coming off an extended injury this past summer plus some nagging stuff here and there which seems to finally be resolved I find myself helplessly out of shape and no where near the shape I once was in. As I very slowly get back into things I can really relate to the thought of "Is this really worth it". I also love the quote "Things always go wrong before they go right". Thanks for the motivation, for me this video couldn't have come at a better time!
I started my freshman xc season coming out of middle school with a 10:40 2 mile and hopes of going sub 16. However during the summer I just didn’t give it my all and rather than training with my varsity I went with the freshman running 15 maybe 20 miles a week, once the season started I picked my mileage up and ran varsity but only to 25-30. After the season I ran 16:12 but it’s just not good enough. going into winter I’ve gone up to 45-50 mpw and I’m training my ass off. Bro u motivate me so much and I’m hoping for sub 4:30-4:20 freshman track season
I love this video so much, my friends call me crazy but whenever I run on the treadmill I listen to this on a loop😅. You inspired me to start taking running seriously, right now I am a freshman is hs and I run a 5:24 mile indoor.
Yo u are one of my favorite runners I ran 4:49 1600m 3 months ago and now I am running 4:35 at 13 years old and it is one of the top times in the nation for my grade/age u are a big inspiration!!!
I placed 30th at the Oregon 5A XC State Meet. I'm happy because of the effort I put forth. We can't control results, but we can control our effort. I will always be happy with a race as long as I give my best. I am hungry to improve and win nonetheless, but winning doesn't define my happiness. That's just how I think about it :)
Yaseen, bro your content so far is crazy inspirational to a young aspiring runner like myself.. I gotta ask tho bro , were you inspired get the idea to throw your medal in the river from Muhammed Ali throwing his Olympic gold in the river ? You are amazing bro
i posted a comment in here earlier about trying to stay healthy but again i got injured but this time my ankle. it seems like when everything is going well and im staying healthy something always happens. anytime i get a big pr or im going into the season good i get injured and it throws everything off. im doing everything i can to get healthy and start a 60+ miles on the bike + a swim schedule but it still feels like i dont control anything. every time it one step forwards and three steps backwards and i have no clue what to do about it. idk maybe im just putting this on a comment so i can get it off my chest but its just so hard to keep going when you cant actually gain momentum because everything comes crashing down first.
Hey yaseen, you probably won’t see this but I’m a first year sophomore with tryouts on Wednesday. One year ago I got cut and struggled to break 10 minutes in the mile, I’m hoping to break 6 at the tryout. Your videos have a been a huge help, would love if you saw this 🙏🏽
barely broke sub 20 and have no speed goin to junior year, very injury prone when running. im tryna do as much biking and swimming as i can so i can still get better while trying to stay healthy
I’m a multi athlete at a d3 school in wisconsin and saw your video on Instagram reels. I placed 8th at conference in the pentathlon my freshman year which I was happy with. now I’m a sophomore with a goal of going to nationals. I’m currently getting worse in the hurdles and shot as I learn to 3 step and the rotational technique, in the pursuit of getting better. The process is simple but sure as hell isnt easy. Thanks for this video, you’re fucking awesome
I really respect this video and love the message. However, bro.. you’re gonna wish you still had that medal to remember this time in your life when you’re 38,49,63 years old.
I like your channel a lot and I'm a fan, but this is also the dark side of sports too, in that you're always miserable. Athletes can be among the most depressed and stressed people even when they're doing excellent. I wish you great times but I also wish you great mental health and to appreciate how great you are. You shocked the world with a national champion in the DMR last year getting away from Yared Nugusse. You deserve tobe happy about that
I just found this account 10mins ago and this video is something that can not be anymore true, I was running a 15:50 freshman and 18:30 5k junior year cause of injury and I was so determined of beating everyone that said that I’ve fallen off that I constantly threw up and doubled constantly and a year later as a senior I’m trying to get a 4:10 mile and I can hit a 14:50 5k now but I still feel slow because I’m not #1 and am starting to double again because there are still points that I need to make into peoples heads. This video is too real
what are your thought on me being a freshman in highschool running a 18:14 5k I'm a young freshman btw like I should basically be in 8th grade rn Also I love all of ur vids keep up the great work
This is probably the best video I’ve seen from a runner/content creator. I was definitely thinking that it was going to come off like cocky, “oh I know I’m the best”, etc. But this was mad honest and precise. I want this guy to win now.

When people are more injury prone though usually they’ll get better faster so it’s a trade off
