A sadly underrated songwriting genius. CJH has been a favourite since back in the late 1970's, and now he's developed into a master of his craft, at the height of his powers. Thank God for talent like this!
I drove my Escape down a farm-infested part of the county whisked by. I was taking my 10 year old daughter to her riding classes. She's new, so it's a rush to see her improvements. The sun shone and the weather was warm and it was perfect. The man is a good songwriter. The Best? I don't think so, but it's still entertaining, and his voice is so unusual. It merits special mention.
I saw him in Portland last year at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland---front row, right in front of him. His show was mezmerizing to say the least. Amazing songs, amazing guitar work, great vocals and he's funny as hell. He's coming back in September and I will be there again.
I've been listening to this amongst others every night while i sleep, one of the best songs i know, besides the marie part, since that's my sisters name :S
same with me, the scrubs soundtrack really dragged me into this whole new style of music - i went from heavy metal lover, to chilled acoustic maggie is definatly his best song...the guitar work involved aswell as his amazing original vocals make him a truly underrated, and, as stated earlie, ananomous guitarist...they should e-release his albums and tracks into the charts, nearly everyone should reach number one!
I love this song! I enjoy the fact that Colin Hay writes songs that are on the surface, rather simplistic in composition. As you listen to it though, there is a much greater depth to it. Wonderful and highly underrated musician. Scrubs definitely knows a good songwriter to promote on their show.
