I still have my alien attack ship. It was in my opinion the best out of the collection along with my screaming alien.

My sister was 14 and obsessed with this movie when it came out and for that Christmas my parents bought her all toys and one day my sister walked by the tree and the Supreme commander went off and my sister turned to my parents and yelled YOU BOUGHT ME THE SUPRMEM COMMANDER....Christmas ruined.
The best toy was the LA attack playset, it was pretty cool.

Well, to be fair Independence Day and it's god awful 2016 sequel were both really BAD, and the human figures are another example of terrible 90s action figure styling. The aliens are okay but I agree the human figures are a joke. No wonder the toys were peg warmers for years. I saw them at Toys R Us as late as 2004, a full 8 years after the first film was released and there was absolutely NO merchandise for the crappy sequel. Oh well, that's why there has been no third Indepdenance Day film.

I loved the aliens from the ID4 line. Trendmasters is notoriously bad with human characters: Independence Day, Godzilla 1998, Lost in Space, Battlestar Galactica, Battlefield Earth, you name it.
The game discs were actually ambitious at the time, considering how commonplace apps are for today's toys. BTW, Trendmasters actually made prototypes for Dr. Okun and everyone's favorite drunken crop duster Russel. When TM made a second series, they focused on the aliens and skipped the human characters.
I still say Trendmasters' Battlefield Earth is horrid enough to showcase, a series that suits the movie perfectly. There's even a figure set called "Johnny in the Learning Chair". No kid wants a bunch of alien Rob Zombie knock-offs and a hippy in a "learning chair"!

I think a lot of post 80's movie action figures stop looking like the actors in the movies because of royalties asked by actors for having their face on them.
After their managers found out how much money the Star Wars action figures made. That's why a lot of 90's and 2000's action figures ended up in the bargain bin.

    • @rorylumley4727
      @rorylumley4727 5 ปีที่แล้ว

It was also before face scanning. Nowadays the action figures look closer to the actors. Maybe actors nowadays accept more reasonable rolties as with the 90's they got nothing when compinies would make figures that don't look like them at all.

The floppy discs were a huge deal. Given how much PC games were selling for back then (59.99-75.99) to see any kind of computer software packed in with a 5.99 toy, you looked at it as a great value. The game itself was basic, but for a 9 year old I found it fun and enjoyable. I might still have one around somewhere. The aliens were extremely well detailed for a 1990's toyline and given the mechanics of that Surpreme Commander, really fun as well. The human characters sold less than the aliens and for good reason, you wanted the aliens to combat your other figures. I cannot tell you how many times the Megazord pounded some ID4 Alien butt, or how many times the Total Justice figures were called upon to neutralize that threat. With the humans pegwarming a proposed 2nd series was cancelled.

I had one of the alien toys when the movie came out. It was one of my favorite childhood movies! The tentacles were flexible and supposed to bend, they were rubber with wire inside like a pipe cleaner. Unfortunately, the wire in those things wears out and snaps, kind of cheap.

A year late, my older brother and I had so much fun playing with alien action figures more than the humans. Sadly we play so much in the mud, dirt, up on in the tree etc that we lose the tentacles often but always hot glue them back on. For the floppy disk, we didn't had a pc in house until years later early 2000s because we had lived in a low income housing and money was tight even doing yard work around the neighborhood for extra money. Overall had fun and there are many toys still in the ground in the old house 😄😄😄😄

Trendmasters were the NECA of their day. Their human figures were never very good but they made great aliens, monsters and robots. ID4, Mars Attacks, Godzilla, Lost In Space. All great lines for the creatures and vehicles.

As someone mentioned below, those tentacles came off too easily.I also remember the alien transferring paint to my fingers. These issues severely dented any play value and longevity. The head looked cool.

Guess I was really looking for something that Neca ended up producing years later. (Which I still need to get by the way.)
Anyway this is fun so keep em commin Junkman.

In my opinion, the play sets, vehicles and the electronic supreme commander and the best toys of the line to own. The supreme commander is really detailed and it’s awesome that’ll can open its head with the motion sensor on its chin. The Los Angeles playset is a fairly large size playset packed with a bunch of fun. With the included alien Attacker you can use the spring loaded missiles and shoot at the bases of the buildings, making it explode with surprise! And the vehicles, while they’re a bit too big to handle, they’re swishable to maneuver and the sounds that they emit from the buttons are really amusing.
Some of the smaller alien figures are good, you get an action feature to manually open its head and reveal the host, although like you said, the tentacles do and will wear out over time, especially the hard plastic ones that stand up the figure. They will warp and make the figure stand uneven. Also when you open the head, you’ll want the host to stay in. Nope! They fall out. Also they’re too big to fit in the head so you have to ball them up.
The human figures…. OH MY GOD!!! Don’t get me started on those toys. They are the worst, cheap looking figures ever! Will Smith’s character lols like Kanye West, Jeff Goldblum’s looks like Clark Kent, and Bill Pullman’s looks like a skinny John Goodman with straight hair.
Overall the toys in the line is fairly alright with some expectations. I think the giant supreme commander toy is the best one out of all the toys.

Ik demolition man is next but do you think you can do treadmasters Godzilla line based on the 1998 movie? The human and vehicle toys do actually kinda blend with kenners lost world figures from a year before, they also made a bank that was like a big moving diorama when you put the coins in.

I personally had the alien figures and I can agree the aliens were what I noticed first in stores. Yes, the aliens tentacles were notorious for falling out and had to be glued back in, and the wire in the small alien and tentacles would break when bent around too much.
