    Your solutions are absolutely perfect! I went through this before I saw your video. I had fallen out of my healthy habits, I was behind in my online courses, and my business was going backwards. I locked myself in my office and avoided seeing friends so they wouldn't find out I was a total mess. What helped me get out of the rut was just accomplishing one small thing. It started with writing in my diary. Then I moved onto doing my daily stretches, then my daily veg juice, and the rest is history

    After an incredible day I came home, opened my iPad and released I had left this video open and hadn't even made 3 in a half mins in. I left the house shortly after being seemingly compelled after watching this video. My day was wonderful and I was so productive. Powerful stuff these videos conjures. I notice it's 2016 and this video is 4 years old. Magic still springs from older stuff. I met so many new people, so many loves touched.

    People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.

    I just wanted to say thanks. I don't have any major problems, but I watched this and got a truly great nugget of knowledge--"Don't wait for motivation. Just get it done." Every time I look around and think about doing some project, that's what gets it DONE. No waiting.

    When I feel stuck, I tend to wallow in my own self pity so I feel significant. But I'm always happier when I just get busy on what I know I should be doing.

    The main thing I've learned when "stuck in a rut" is to not become a recluse. It really does make a difference to stay engaged in your relationships. There's support there. And sometimes a good distraction. Sometimes through conversation, you are able to put things in perspective. Sometimes a light bulb goes off... there's so many things that can come from engagement, that ultimately get you back on track.

    My biggest problem is to stick to anything. I get bored easily and I then stop doing it. It tends to happen with jobs. I keep leaving them. I don't know how to over come this and stick to a job.

      While you explore your passion, maybe only work contract jobs (with a definite end in sight). That way you'll know exactly when quitting time will be (because the contract ends eventually) and if it's something you don't like doing at least you'll be able to pay your bills and know that you won't have to be there for long.

    "No excuses" that is probably the best motivational thing ever. Whenever you don't want to do something that you should do just think of why you are not doing it and remember no excuses. Example- I don't wanna go running because I'm tired, NO EXCUSES! I dont wana study cuz I'd rather watch tv NO EXCUSES, apply it to everything in life.

      If he's been diagnosed by a qualified doctor with chronic depression, it's not just a lie. It's a very much real condition. You can't just get over it by telling yourself you have control over it. And trust me, I speak for all people diagnosed with mental illnesses when I say it'd be better if it was all about mindset.

    • @franciscoferraz6788
      @franciscoferraz6788 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I agree with the fact that a lot if not most doctors are very much interested in money over their patient. However what you're saying doesn't really add up either. You can't be suggesting that we ignore every single diagnosis made in the health industry? Just because it's money driven? Just one right diagnosis is perfectly enough to refute your argument.

      hmm I woke up age 3 and a half and clicked with God, I decided that what ever I faced I would keep my faith in God. 2 years after then I began to became up a victim of child abuse up till leaving home in my late teens and through it all God has comforted me by going out of his way to prove he exists in deeds, which I've never expected. that alone has kept me strong for a higher purpose and so I've never given up to date.

    I'm almost never motivated, but I never enjoy being still either. I have a supportive mother who pushes me to do things, and working out is one of them (i have your Cardio Dance Blast workout DVD and have been using it since 2005, i still deeply enjoy it). I almost never workout, but I started doing it last week and I'm enjoying it. Now I work out even if I don't feel like it, like last Saturday. I just do it, and before I know it, I'm having fun. The same thing with everything else. I fully trust you, Marie, you're like the friend I never had. Thank you for your videos!

    I AM IN A RUT :( Great tips, I might go buy your book because I like your videos so much. I moved to Toronto for a job and then 2 months in they let me go because of "budget cuts" right after they had me train their unpaid interns. So now I'm in a new city with no job and I am feeling an immense amount of pressure to find one ASAP. But I really don't want to resort to taking a job that won't benefit me in the long term. I've done a lot of waitressing and retail in the past, and was finally kick-starting my career with my past two jobs, and now I feel like I've taken a huge blow and can't get back up. I've had some interviews that I thought I had totally nailed, but then I don't hear anything back (and yes, I ALWAYS follow up). Hit me with some advice guys! (I'm actually going to a job fair right now, so hopefully good things will come).

    • @TheNissanr33
      @TheNissanr33 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will be fine. If you play the numbers game, eventually those numbers will come up, providing that you're not being too unrealistic about what is achievable in terms of your skill and/or qualification level. If you have exactly what interviewers are looking for on paper, which it sounds like you do as you'd not be considered for interviewing otherwise, then perhaps maybe it's a case of looking at other areas that are destroying you're chances. Do you come across well to the interviewer where you feel (personally) that there is some sort of rapport?...Are there others factors you can work on to provide the best possible interaction in the shortest time available, to create that all important first impression? I hope you have good luck as well in finding the job you want.

    I can do to contribute like just doing the house work, staying active, enjoying the time I have with the kids...instead i was wallowing in my misery..rather than realizing i have a golden opportunity to get on track with this extra time... Well I am back in school and I have to say i am nervous because this is my last shot for financial aid to cover it. never give up and be honest to yourself and go for it. I just don't want to go through life and look back and say "what if i gave it my all".

    I recently attended my bffs wedding, and met up with some old schoolmates. and they were really lovely and encouraging girls! they were like oh are you doing anything? and they were like thats ok, do you do anything like a hobby, and they were all like "you should do this". just try it! you never know!" and I felt so motivated and encouraged and really well received. I love being around those type of people! I should send them a heart emoji thing once in awhile. but I dont want to be a nuisance

    This is really good advice. I've been there, and to the people in the comments saying that Chronic Depression is holding them back, it's not. I understand how incredibly hard it can be but there are actions you can take to get things moving. The first thing is really taking your mental illness seriously, but never playing the victim. Depression is something nobody else can overcome for you; you have to do it. Go to therapy and take it REALLY seriously; don't second guess everything your therapist tells you. Go to your doctor and get a prescription for an antidepressant if you don't already have one and take it every single day. I can tell you from experience those two steps (if taken seriously enough) will help tremendously and get you moving in the right direction.

    Action gets rid of fear... sometimes it's plain old fear of failure that holds you back... loved the part on Do something even if it's totally not relevant to your larger plans. Yes it takes effort to get out of bed and stop ordering takeout :p (going through this phase right. Now.) but learning to hanging on the feeling of accomplishing even small tasks. And to celebrate the small victories. So important to do that. Small moments of feeling good about yourself all add up. Love and hugs!

    Yes I do feel stuck in a rut and do hide and feel embarrassed sometimes. But I get out and take my ass to the gym.,it instantly puts me into a positive mind frame..and then I stop beating myself up..I start opening up to myself, getting shit done (momentum!) and telling the truth, and that helps me deal with fear. I tell only those people I trust completely of my "situation" or tough time.

    Just do ANYTHING when you are in a rut. Rome wasn't built in a day. I find when I lose my focus on doing just one thing, I get more done chipping away at multiple projects. Before you know it, you'll have 3 nearly completed projects opposed to a kick ass beginning of just one, whilst pulling your hair out and struggling.

    My problem is I have too many talents and seem to jump from one thing to the next and rarely complete one thing. I have half completed jewelry, graphics, photography, 3D designs, sewing, drawing, painting............And yes, I'm broke! and frustrated. I get organized then someone says "hey, can you help me with this?" and there I go and don't return to what I was doing, sometimes for months! It just takes so little to become distracted or depressed.....sometimes both.

    well, i am in that position right now. my dad passed away couple months ago, and i know it still affects me in certain way. i'm not really close to my brother and sister, i live alone. and i quit my job because i feel disoriented, like lost control over myself. it's been month but i feel better about myself, i am sure there is no overnight solution, but actually it'll get better

    You said right. It's painful.
    I see there is no solution for that at that time so I actually LOVE going to different places, traveling with hubby and meeting friends...but yeah, next time I will implement the "telling the truth factor" :)

    I like the, get something done idea! I tend to avoid social situations when I have been feeling low in the past... maybe try getting around more folks in future! Thanks!

    love your hair and the fact that you were straight-forward and not just making sounds. I also like the typography to visualize what you're saying instead of just talking.
    I'm a huge believer in things that happen for a reason, so you never know! go out and try something!

    I have been having the problem where I take advice and it either takes over my head or goes over my head. Like the being honest, I was constantly just complaining and complaining all the time to my friends. While they were supportive at first, they grew to dislike me because I seemed so negative all the time. I was playing victim like nobody's business. I became the toxic friend to my best friend and she dropped me. I have been so depressed and just miserable since and it shows. I am filled with guilt and shame of my past actions and I know that the consequences of my actions aren't going to leave my shoulders anytime soon. I have moved to a new place, I am unemployed, and completely lost on what my goals are anymore. I'm picking up little by little though. I am only 18 as well and I am really trying to steer my shit train onto some tracks to completely reinvent myself and to become who I am again.

    I agree with everything she had to say. I'm sorta of in a rut or i should say I'm playing the waiting game. I am happily married with four wonderful kids. I am 37 and pursuing a career in applied science respiratory therapist. I am currently sitting on 28 credits short of 36 credits to graduated. I took a year off cuz I was failing miserably. I couldn't seem to concentrate for some reason. My wife works and I am a stay at home dad atm...The role reversal is the big thing cont...

    I love this video - it's an energetic mish-mash of AWESOME! It perfectly sums up how I've been feeling recently and I realise that trying to get motivated just isn't necessarily the right way... "Just get sh*t done" is exactly right!

    Thanks! I feel much better. I'm a teenager nearing adulthood and I'm just not motivated to get things done because I'm lazy and scared of growing up but thanks to you, I feel much better :) xoxo
