    Great video!! I change the motor oil in my 2015 Jetta TDI with an electric pump which sucks the oil out of the dipstick hole. Could the same method be used of sucking the oil out of the transmission through the filter housing hole and then just replace whatever amount was sucked out of it through the same hole from the top? It would avoid having to put the car up on stands and draining / filling from the bottom.

      WolfganG - If you choose to fill from the top, then you have to measure the amount that you drain and then put the same amount back in. Once you put everything back together and start the engine and warm the transmission up, then there's no way to add more fluid if you need to unless you fill from the bottom. Yes, you can overfill from the top and then drain from the bottom if you choose, but once you have everything back together, then there's no way to add more fluid if you need to unless you fill from the bottom. I am confused with the amount of oil replaced...You said that if 4.5 oil comes out a 4.5 oil should be the correct amount to be replaced but I saw in your video that you let drained the new oil almost a quarter of oil. Why? don't the vehicle is short for that amount of oil?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nabor Luciano - With this method, you overfill it and then the correct level is determined by the tube inside the transmission. This is why I drained the fluid with the engine running to determine the correct level. I hope that you watched the video the whole way through to understand it.
      Some people choose to just put the same amount back in that was drained, but you are assuming that the correct amount was in there in the first place. It's all personal preference.

      Roy Saenz - Yes, you can do that, but you have to measure the amount that you drain out and then put the same amount back in. You're also assuming that the amount of fluid that's in the transmission is the correct amount. This is the reason why I don't like to do it that way. The hose and funnel isn't that much money anyways and it's still cheaper than paying someone else to do it.

      Well, there are 2 ways of doing this. The top fill method, which is when you fill from the filter location. With that method you have to measure how much you drain so that you can put the same amount back in.
