  • So it’s now 2024. This also means a new year for Assassin’s Creed, but more specifically Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. Since the Ubisoft Forward Event last year, there’s not been much information about Codename Red. However, that’s not to say there’s none. So what I want to do in this video is go over everything we know so far about Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. From information released to the public, to every possible leak I could find, and even some details you might not even be aware of.

Assassin's Creed is an open-world, action-adventure, and stealth game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed video game series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Order of Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Knights Templar, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters intertwined with real-world historical events and historical figures. In most games, players control a historical Assassin while also playing as an Assassin Initiate or someone caught in the Assassin-Templar conflict in the present-day framing story. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed took inspiration from the novel Alamut by the Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.

This game cannot be lazy like Valhalla. I’m hoping the devs realize how long ppl have been waiting for an assassin’s creed set in Japan and with incredible games like Ghost of Tsushima, Ubisoft needs to knock this out of the park. If they do this right it could be the best AC since black flag.
Just so every knows, I actually enjoy Valhalla it just feels very bloated and mostly unnecessary. When I say it’s lazy I’m talking about its lack of focus and I hope AC Red is much tighter, more similar to Origins.

@jackpackage4278 you do realize that this game has been in development for years now. The reason we get a new one each year is because different studios do different games. I think the average time for an ac game being in development is 4 years.

@@goldenburger836so then that means that they need to take an extra 4 years to do Final touches and polishing so there doesn't need to do a day 1 patch and instead focus on maintenence patches and add free extra content with each update therefore increasing replay ability and enjoyment of the game until a new ac game comes out

I really don't know how I feel about Yasuke if the rumor of him being the protagonist is true. I feel like in any AC game, the country the game takes place in should be represented by people that most closely match the culture of the region. I'm totally down for a Black protagonist (Adewale got shafted) but I'd like to see that in an Assassin's creed game set in africa, showing the African brotherhood, or maybe a Saracen assassin. I feel a game set in Japan should feature two japanese protagonist, voiced and mocaped by japanese voice actors.
I'd definitely like to see Yasuke as like a side character or as one the people that aids us in our journey.

Tsushima in the cutscene, cinematic & story was exceptional.
Combat was good to but kinda gets old after awhile...compared to assassins creed that alone makes it look like a joke. Which Tsushima was inspired by Nioh .... without said inspiration the combat wouldn't even be good but mediocre at best & maybe even trash.😌
--Enter Rise of the ronin the same team responsible for the Nioh Series. Their game won't be like Ghost in the cinematic & Graphics sense...but their game is more combat focused.
Which is what separates it....Story will be significant but might not be like Ghost as you can't even Skip cutscenes in Ghost.
---Hopefully Red can be a well made product but off the bat the combat needs to be something new and fresh that we haven't seen from Ubisoft before.

Well, Unity and Syndicate was in about the same mentality. There are even videos about how good Unity still looks and how they accomplished that back then. The characters were heavy, they felt physically right. The facial animations, the weight... This one time I jumped down from a high building in Syndicate, the impact was too real that it got me startled for a moment there, it felt like it was me doing the jump and touching the ground.
If they somehow managed to merge that phyisically realistic & cinematic look and feel of the Initiate Duology and the sheer size and vastness of the Layla Hassan trilogy harmoniously, Codename Red could repair the company's image pretty well.

templars opens up a really interesting concept actually, if they bring them in. Japan had a practice of "fumi-ye" for a long time and didnt allow missionaries after a certain point in time. Christianity existed but in a sort of underworld. Assassins would likely know about this underworld and interact with it, where templars could be present. The Japanese also had long sticks or poles, with images of christ at the end to use for Fumi-ye, which would make a cool weapon in the game.

What is interesting is Nobunaga is one of japans 3 great unifiers. I had a japanese history class where I learned alot about them so being able to see them in a game is awesome, and it really is the perfect setting for getting an AC game started. The same way odyssey has sparta and athens fight, this one would have 3 warring factions across japan fight. That would be my assumption. iirc after Japan was unified, which was by Nobunaga I think, he was soon overturned, another Samurai betrayed him to reinstate the emperor, then a few years later betrayed t he emperor for his own military control. I may be getting the details wrong but I remember the vibe and it will definitely be really intersting

**Enter Rise of the ronin the same team responsible for the Nioh Series.

I can already kind of predict a plot to this game. Ok so there will be instead of one big leader of the Templars there would be 3. Obu Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Akechi Mitsuhide would kind of be like Maxwell Roth in the fact that he will help you greatly in taking down Obu Nobunaga but then take over Japan and then you would be helped by Toyotoma Hideyoshi to take back Japan but then it’s revealed that he is a member of the order. There would of course be other members of the Templars too but the game would end with you assassinating Akechi Mitsuhide and it would take place roughly from the 1570s to the 1590s. I don’t really think that it would just be Obu Nobunaga being the head of the Templars because then the game would be extremely short with the arrival of Yasuke in Japan in 1579 and the death of Obu Nobunaga in I think 1581 or 1582.

I think one thing that's often overlooked when comparing Ghost of Tsushima to AC Red is the Combat Variety.
GoT has one fighting Style, a single Katana.
AC Red will probably give you a choice between Katana, Double Katana, Odachi, Naginata, Axes, Kusarigamas etc.
There will be so much Combat Variety.
Will it be as satisfying as GoT?
Probably not, but if it's better than Valhalla & on par with Odyssey, no Problem.
Also having a Shinobi & a Samurai as Protagonists could make for some interesting moral Contrasts in Beliefs.
GoT has a beautiful Open World, but due to the Scenario it's a little empty.
All NPCs are at Hiding Spots or Camps & there are no big Cities to explore.
And that is something I'm very much looking forward to.

Yasukes real life story isn't test remarkable beyond being a black samurai in historical Japan. He apparently wasn't a great samurai. Feels like a ESG motivated inclusion.

i hope Yasuke Style is more like Afro samurai Like robes with a head band or something all though the Samurai armour could be cool i think it might like a bit chunky and slow so maybe silk robes instead

I want an AC that can have dynamic and varied encounters anywhere on the map. Odyssey was a step in the right direction with the bounty system where you could always attract threats so long as you rained chaos on civilians. They somehow didn't think it should be included in Valhalla - a game with raiding in it, but I hope they do for this one.
Imagine a system where instead of damage sponges sent for you, you get the occasional organized merc squad or team of trained assassins stalking you to take you out where you least expect it. There's no way to detect them like your typical enemy apart from the game warning you they are close, so you gotta rely on your own perception and constantly be on the lookout.
Things like that in general. I want reasons to go back to settlements or any area and interact with them in more ways than just "Go to random point and kill 5 guys". Let me go full-on GTA if I want to or give me immersive stuff to do in these bloated maps. Would go a long way towards making them feel fun to be in. Just parkour, stealth and stuff to kill is not enough to add value to your maps Ubisoft. Please... take some risks for once.
