I play this emulated on Steam Deck. I finally beat it today with a time of 3:32. Second place on the default leaderboard. I didn't beat the extra course though. The game is one of the greatest.

You can change the resolution at the top, but you can also download the m2 configurator and this allows you to set even higher resolutions and also use widescreen as well.
The PS2 version is the same, you have to play with the controller if you do not have a compatible wheel - it’s difficult to get used to as well, but with practice you can still get pretty fast. It is an option. If you hold the Start and View buttons as you select the car it changes the HUD (including removing the rear view mirror), and instead gives you a time comparison of the best time in the bottom right corner of the screen.

The graphics are truly an testament to how far ahead Sega was with thier arcade games. It still looks so damn good 30 years later

This game was so fun , the force feed back was brutal, i have it on PS2 and still play abit
It is a bit harder to play with the PS2 controller, but still glad it arrived on a home console at least once.

It is impossible to do this precise driving on a joystick. Maybe you can play SEGA Touring Car (Model 2) too because it seems unplayable on pad too.
