    When Permanent Waves came out, my friend, a drummer, thought Rush was going in the wrong direction. More digital and commercial. I knew it was pure genius. So is Moving Pictures, Signals...

    This song is an homage to Toronto's Radio Station 102.1 a Rebellious Station who played anything and everything, no formatting, played Albums start to finish, and pushed New Canadian talent, unlike the Corporate Stations on every other station. The Stations catchphrase was "The Spirit of Radio"

    One of the most honest reactions I've seen in awhile... thank you for being one who puts in the effort and actually takes the time to listen and understand the lyrics...
    Try one of their storyline songs like The Trees or Farewell to Kings before diving into the huge commitment of 2112...

    There is an error in these lyrics, "For the words of the prophets... " Should be "For the words of the PROFITS... " That little sequence there is a call out to Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence."

    Honestly, another "F You" song by Rush as their label wants "Radio-friendly songs".
    "But glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity"
    They're Canadian, so this is as mean as they get. 😁

    "Yo, he's spitting phat..." That one phrase summed up the whole Professor's career. You won't find better lyrics anywhere. Subbed!

    • @RaymondBCrisp
      @RaymondBCrisp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      FYI, The Professor is Neil Peart (name pronounced with an 'ear' sound in the middle), the percussionist for the band. I don't call him just a drummer, because he was much more than that. He wrote approximately 95% of the band's lyrics, plus he played a host of non-standard rock band percussive instruments, such as temple blocks, vertical bells, wind chimes, Glockenspiel (supplanted by programmable Mallet Kat, which could sound like a Glockenspiel or whatever else he wanted), and even more. Want to see the most epic drum solo ever, well check this out: th-cam.com/video/LWRMOJQDiLU/w-d-xo.html
