Water Level indicator using IC rb.gy/1u8xnt
We generally worry about the wastage of water, when we switch ON the motor and forget to turn it off. The Water Level Indicator employs a simple mechanism to detect and indicate the water level in an overhead tank or any other water container. We have posted already a Water Level Indicator and Controller using IC ULN2003. In this article, we are presenting a very useful, cheap and simple Water Level Indicator circuit using transistors (bc547) for beginners. This circuit indicates the level of water in the water tank using LEDs with transistors. you can use this project as a college project.
Circuit Components
4 - BC547 transistors
3 - 220-ohm resistors
3 - LEDs
1 - Buzzer
5 - 9v battery + battery clip/power supply
some pieces of wire
The connections arrangements are shown in the circuit diagram shown above. The +9V power supply or battery is used. In this circuit, we have used all the transistors as a switch. The water touches the wires’ contact with base of each transistor, a small current flows through the base and turns on the transistor as the transistor turns on, the LED connected to it glows. LEDs will be turned on depending upon the level of water. We have used a buzzer with the last transistor as water touches the base of the last transistor collector the collector and emitter connected and buzzer rings. The relay can be connected instead of the buzzer to auto control the water level in the tank.

In my previous video i have made a water level indicator with in UNA2003 IC. Today I am presenting a very useful, very cheap and very simple circuit using transistors for beginners in the field of electronics. This simple circuit can indicate the level of water in your tank using LEDs as well it will alarm as tank will be full.

I'm definitely going to build one like this and use a button to cut the power so any time I want a reading I just apply power and read the lights! I love it! simple and accurate!

In this application such an alarm would be own all the time. What is needed is a circuit break switch to trigger an alarm.

Hello. Good project. Two questións: How long the sensor cables must be to get the device functioning properly? Could it be 10 meters (30 feet), for example? . (Note: when I say "sensor" I mean the cables which are in contact with the water). By the way, I suggest to add a switch on/off to turn off the circuit when it is not working. This way the battery would last a lot more. Thanks, friend, and keep on projecting.

Will it work in reverse if I use a pnp transistor tnx and best regards ( buzzer sounds when waters tank empty)
I think a circuit break switch such as a float switch would be more suitable to trigger an alarm when a tank in nearly empty.
@@dtriniboss most likely or a separate circuit, with a pulley with a floater in one end andna metal piece on the other end that touches another metal when the floeater reaches a certain depth and that completes the circuit that triggers the alarm

All is ok, but you need to add a swich to turn off the alarm, if not, when it be full the noise will continue making sound for hours until the water level be reduced.

This is simple and easier to make, but my Question is, can this component will suitable for higher voltage, say, 6 Vol. DC ? If not, please. suggest for 5 or 6 Vol. power supply.

your man (evelated) tank will be full then reserve water will come in other tank thorough over flow pap
and cut off relay should be connected with reserver tank

yes off course we can put a capacitor that will turn off buzzer after 30 to 50 seconds automatically

I really dont know why.
Because when i measure water is has resitance of 1megaohm so it could not really flow some current to drive the leds but it still works. Can someone explain this?

can we connect positive terminal of supply directly to the anode of LED?
i think Anode should be connected to one end of 220 ohm resistor and another end of resistor should be connected to Anode of LED.
cathode of LED will go to collector of Transistor.
in short i wanna ask,are the positions of 220 ohm and LED are correct or they should be interchanged?
Yes you can but then you will give supply 6v maximum

Though the the circuit works perfectly O.K.But there would be deposition of copper oxide at later stage on each terminal of sensor point touching the water at different levels which in turn effects sensors, so I suggest to connect the copper wires of sensors at joints to steel nails/any good steel sharp material to act as sensor points and M-seal/MRI Tape can be applied at joints to avoid oxidation at joints. Further I suggest that the Positive terminal (which is connecting positive sides of all LEDs ) can be drawn up to tank bottom level through a separate wire with steel nail point at joint and immersed at bottom most point of tank, so that the whenever each sensor comes in touch with water, the concerned LED at that level start glowing(more bright) because transistor act a switch and gets direct contact with positive terminal nearby .Here also oxidation is too much and needs protection as suggested. (usually all sensors of water level indicators are steel point because to avoid oxidation .

How much can be the maximum lenghth of sensor wire. Distance between My water tank to room where i want to place the indicator is about 25 mtr. Is this will work at this distance.. can u pls suggest how can i implement this in this constraints..?
