  • @mast1ff
    @mast1ff ปีที่แล้ว +585

    *Yes* , iPhone is at *80* *Hz* most of the time. This is because Apple intentionally limited the refresh rate to 80 Hz when your scroll reaches a specific speed. They think when your scroll is so fast, all that your eyes can catch is blur, so 120 Hz is unnecessary (which I doubt). I tested it with a slo-mo camera, and it's proven by Craig.

    • @twainrocks4771
      @twainrocks4771 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Your eyes can see well over 80hz.
      Your eyes see upwards of 560 megabits and you can see the difference between FPS upwards of 250 FPS.
      iPhone does go to 120hz but only when needed.
      When scrolling your homepage it is at 80hz and it goes up to 90 and beyond when you open different apps.
      Instagram goes to 120 Hz and so does TH-cam and TikTok. It plays most games at 90-100hz because it can't process Minecraft and other heavy games smoothly past that.
      It stops at 70fps on medium graphics for most games and goes to 60 FPS on max graphics.
      Good phone all around.
      Google pixel 6 is still better despite being 2 years old but iPhone is much more popular to the masses thanks to marketing

    Animations on iOS are generally longer which makes the phone feel less smooth. They're eye candy the first 100 times you look at them but after a while they start slowing you down. Too bad there's nothing that can be done apart from disabling animations altogether.

It is to avoid wasting battery life for performing at 120 hz. 90hz is solid enough for simple home screen viewing. 120 hz is probably reserved for more visually-focused activities like gaming, video-watching etc.
    Although I don't think there is an option to turn this off in the ios

    • @kadenbirch
      @kadenbirch 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It has more to do with android having much faster snappier animations where iPhones animations are slower. On a lower refresh rate like 60 this makes the iPhone feel smoother, but at 120hz it makes it feel slow and sluggish. You'd think that they would prioritize the 120hz for games, but it's actually the opposite, the best place to show off high refresh rate is when scrolling or on the home screen as it makes the whole phone feel snappy and these are relatively low performance scenarios, whereas in most game the phone isn't capable or optimized to run at 120hz since a game is a more performance demanding scenario

And because people like the guy in the Reel I stopped fanboying samsung. And actually don’t like samsung phones because of people like him. I use an iPhone and Sony Xperia for Android. . Samsung phones are great and look gorgeous but it’s their ads and fanbase that made me lose interest in their phones and laptops,even Tvs. LOL
      Just like the OP comment said just use what device you like to use. It’s you thats the one is gonna use the device not them. And not everyone likes what you like. Not everyone likes android just accept it fanboys. Hahaha

I use my iPhone for Photography, videography, mobile gaming and personal use and my Android for music watching shows and casting it on my Android TV. I use an iPhone. Samsung phones are great. And with their fake moonshots. I can Take a moonshot with an iPhone 11 pro and a Sony Xperia 1. Most of apple’s focus are the ones that just wants to use a phone or a computer with ease. Not to toy around with their phones. It’s great that you can replace or change home screen of your phone. More power to you. But people that are not techy. It’s frustrating to them to use android. I know because my family uses android and gets overwhelmed by the settings or why their devices slows after 6 months. So you’re antagonising apple users you’re like antagonising a parent. And there are Apple users that are way smarter and advance than you think. Doctors use apple devices and you don’t call them stupid. Musicians use MacBooks even developers. So stop the fanboying. I know because I was used to be a samsung fanboy too. Try using other brands once in a while. It’s great. If you hate apple so much try a Sony phone or any androids. Thank you for mentioning this. Coming from my Samsung S22 and scrolling through the settings menu of an iPhone 14 Pro Max this was the first thing I noticed. Scrolling felt choppy compared to my S22. After further research I figured that starting a screen recording on the iPhone would force 120Hz at all times and after starting one it felt as smooth as my Samsung. Without the screen recording it indeed must be running at 80-90Hz. I guess I'll be sticking to my much smoother S22 for now.
