I’m so glad you found the last commercial, it’s probably the most famous of all of them. Interesting fact, it was an American that wrote the last commercial because they wanted more of a patriotic feel to it. My brother went to Australia for a year just after high school and my parents both asked him if he could live without hockey for a year and he said he could. 2 months later he’s asking them to send over his equipment… LOL BTW, Australian ice is soft, so it’s interesting to skate on. :)
I’ll add a bit more to KittK’s comment about that last famous commercial. It went viral here in Canada, and many good-natured takes/spoofs were done on it by variety shows, as well references to it appearing in political and world event cartoons in newspapers across the country. It’s still referenced here despite being over two decades old. If you hear a Canadian over 30 saying I am Canadian they’re probably channeling Joe Canadian from the commercial. Incidentally, it was directed by an American, but written by a Canadian. The actor is Jeff Douglas and shortly after that he moved to the US to work. That was used against the government of the time (your policies are so bad our young people are leaving to find work in other countries). Jeff returned to Canada later and for a few years was one of the hosts on the CBC radio show, As It Happens (probably one of the best radio shows around-highly recommend it for informative educational and sometimes quirky news). In 2019 Jeff moved to host Mainstreet, a Nova Scotia afternoon radio show. We miss him on As It Happens. In the shows opening where they listed some of the stories they had, he was given some awful puns and dad jokes that related to some of the stories coming up. Just the light-hearted stories though, not the ones examining serious issues, tragedies, and startling events from around the world.
@@chrisconnors7418, thank you so much for the correction and additional information. I remember hearing at the time that because Canadians were too humble to be loudly patriotic they had to get an American to write it… LOL. I’m glad you set the record right :)
@@kittkatt2255 I'd heard the same as you, and thought an American had written it too. I only accidentally found out otherwise when I googled Jeff Douglas to see when he'd left As It Happens. One of the links had director and writer of The Rant.
I you enjoyed The Rant, the last ad you played, check out the similar rant made by Willian Shatner, whom, a lot of people don’t know, another proud Canadian. Hey John... I have not seen an I Am Canadian commercial in some time. I can tell you that the last one you showed (My Name Is Joe...) was the first of them. It was so impactful that the first day it aired, people were talking about it at work (yes... I am that old). In general it is referred to as "The Rant" and is truly famous, here. On a slightly different note... yes, Canadian's often take the piss from their American cousins. All of us, though, recognize the kinship. There are certain things that puzzle us, but we recognize the friendship. BTW - I have worked overseas with Americans (and am married to one - to my great joy). The perspective gained from an outside view is amazing. As a Canadian, having worked for several years outside of North America myself, I realize 1) how small my world view has been and 2) how close the U.S. and Canada are in history, culture, and perspective. Don't let Canadian ribbing of our American friends disturb you. After all, brothers can fight incessantly between themselves... but NO ONE ELSE is allowed!! Final comment - there is a book called Behind the Embassy Door, written by James J. Blanchard, former Ambassador to Canada during the Clinton Administration... it's a wonderful, insightful read that discusses U.S. and Canadian politics at a particularly stressful time for Canada as a nation. My best wishes.
The I am Canadian series, and especially the last one was a great advertising series but I think it was in the late 90's I wish they would bring it back. Still loved!
EVERYONE remembers ‘I am Joe & I am Canadian’ .. we are EXTREMELY patriotic, we just don’t say it to non-Canadians .. wafer. It in our heart & soul. So Joe & his fabulous, eloquent rant … made everyone proud !! 👏🇨🇦❣️
You have to be advised that Canadian beer has a 5% alcohol content. The stuff sold in the USA, with the same name as what is sold in Canada has an alcohol content of only 2-1/2% alcohol content. There are many oil industry workers from Texas and Oklahoma who learned that lesson the hard way. I lived in Alberta for many years and it was always hilarious when these cowboys from the states would come to the bar and tried to make a show. Chug-a-lugging is not a good idea when the beer in your glass has twice the alcohol content you are use to drinking. It was truly a spectator sport watching these guys calling it a night at 10pm!😀🇨🇦
Reeally? I suppose I’m not surprised that the cowboy types would only know Budweiser or Coors, and if this was many years ago, that would make sense too. But now, craft beer has become huge in the 20 years here. We have so many local brewers brewing some really good quality beers of all types on top of the fact that the big companies have now gotten on board so that most of the beers we drink that aren’t the Budweiser types have 6 percent and up ABV. This is especially true of IPAs and double or Imperial IPAs (can be 9 or 10 %) which are really popular now. I had a Molson not that long ago that was 6%, which I got here in NY. I can’t remember the exact name, it wasn’t the standard Molson Canadian, it was maybe Molson Cold Shot or something like that. I also remember back in my college days in the early to mid 1990s they had a beer called Molson Ice that had a higher ABV than usual for back then, and we knew if we were getting that to be careful.
That last one is iconic !! Pretty well known, at least to most people I know. Glad you picked some lighter subject matter to end the week, we also have to laugh , the more the better !! Your channel seems to be doing well, great to see !! Thanks for the videos, I really like your no hype approach !

Molson commercials have always been hilarious. They were often aired during Hockey Night In Canada. As kids it was the only night we were allowed to stay up past our bedtime.
That really brought back some memories. Thanks. And I'm glad you enjoyed them. I wish they would bring them back. Greetings from Canada, keep up the good work.
Thanks again my American Cousin for a very entertaining time. I can also remember playing street hockey, pond hockey, and also home made rinks. Although I never played organized hockey, I did play shinney occasionally, and in my teen years working at a hockey rink driving a Zamboni. Keep up the good work Cuz.
Jeff Douglas is the actor in the my name is Joe commercial, and he worked in radio at CBC the same network I worked at for 36 years, and he is a very nice guy. I asked him once about that commercial, and he said I hope when my career is over that is not the only thing I am remembered for.

Ha, it was great. I only recently learned that a chesterfield is a couch so I got the joke on that part of the rant. Mt favorite was when he said, no he doesn’t know Sally or Jim from Canada in his rant, then paused to calmly say, “I’m sure they are very nice” 😂. It was a rant against stereotypes and in favor of Canadian norms while subtlety acknowledging the stereotype of Canadians being nice and polite. Very funny.

Funny one for you. Buddy and me where headed to the registration for a ice fishing competition. When we crested the hill from the parking area, for some reason everyone looked at us. My buddy yells out, I’m Joe and I’m drunk on Canadian, and rolls down the hill. Took awhile for everyone to gain composure, just to show the impact of these commercials back in the day.

Molson Canadian ads are definitely classic and part of our heritage. Because we've all been asked if we live in igloos or if we had a dog sled. Personally, I only take my dog sled to Toronto, roads are good dogs like it. Every guy loves if you've met a hockey player or dated one I don't know why. They weren't on the date with me?Thank you for appreciating our culture! Cheers ✌️♥️🇨🇦🥞🍺🍻
😂. Love the sense of humor.
😂 well there is always Aussie rules football
@@johnf-americanreacts1287 😆😆, Aussie rules is something else all together… LOL
Your take on Canadian culture and sense of humour, (spelled with the “u” as is colour) is refreshing. I’ve found that quite common in the northern part of New York State. I’m only an hour’s drive north of the border. Carry on with your mission. You’re doing a wonderful job! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
Yes! Do William Shatners take on this please!

You are so lovely and kind, absolutely an honorary Canadian!
Thank you 💕😊 for the funny commercials . l have never drank Molson Canadian . But I am Canadian .
I remember a lot of these. The attack beaver was and still is my personal favorite. 😂😂
That last one is iconic !! Pretty well known, at least to most people I know. Glad you picked some lighter subject matter to end the week, we also have to laugh , the more the better !! Your channel seems to be doing well, great to see !! Thanks for the videos, I really like your no hype approach !
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. It helps a lot.
Check out the Molson Canadian Beer fridges that were sprinkled around the world, that only open with a Canadian Passport...True story.
Stephen Harper addressed Parliament when he was PM to ask Canadians to show their patriotism and said it was ok to cheer 😂 2010 for the Olympics, If you haven't seen footage of Canadians after the golden goal it's worth a look, Fans all over Canada especially Toronto met in the Streets and celebrated
Back in the 90’s I was part of a research group for some summer road trip commercials. Watched different commercials, commented on what it meant, the music…. Got a couple beers, some slices and a $100 for 2 hours time. Great work for a student on a Friday night.
My dear friend John, I am true born and breaded blue eyed proud Canadian that will say the name of the great Wayne Gretzky #99. Edmonton Oilers will win the Stanley Cup this year in 2022-2023 season. Lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
I am NOT athletic. I am definitely a geeky girl, and even I played street hockey. Cannot be Canadian without it. Got all 3 kids street hockey kits and 2 boys and a girl were out in the cul de sac regularly. Fun! Grew up on these ads and the rant is a legendary anthem for most Canadians.
I always find it funny being Canadian. Americans always say ice skating where here in Canada we assume it's on ice
From Cape Breton Island, good on you John F we do need to smile and laugh, especially now a days : )
You’re the man, John! Love seeing one of our southern neighbours take such in interest in our history and culture. I’ll pop a top for you, you pop one for me. Cheers 🍻
Absolutely my friend. Cheers! 🍻
As a proud Canadian, it warms me when I see Americans taking interest and time to learn about the greatest country on Earth. It is a shame that in America they do not teach about Canada to the American students. Keep up the interest and growing with knowledge.
That last one is the quintessential commercial. =)
Molson commercials have always been hilarious. They were often aired during Hockey Night In Canada. As kids it was the only night we were allowed to stay up past our bedtime.
Actress Pam Anderson got her start as a model for Labbatts Blue beer advertising posters. Labbatts is another Canadian beer
That really brought back some memories. Thanks. And I'm glad you enjoyed them. I wish they would bring them back. Greetings from Canada, keep up the good work.
Thank you for your service, sir!
In 2004, Coors Beer became the owner of Molson Canadian. I don't think I've seen many of these commercials since.
I'm Canadian but I hadn't seen the ad with the attack beaver or the one with the Proclaimer's song 500 miles (I love that song)!
Love your channel. I say you get honourary citizenship. Come on up and have a Molsons.
thanks for reminded me about those commercials and from a american view i really appreciated that
They haven't made a good I am canadian commercial in a while. I have forgotten how patriotic they make you feel.
If I recall correctly, William Shatner did a spoof of that last one at the Winter Olympics, it was great.
Even though its not a beer commercial I feel that William Shatner's I am Canadian should have been added to your Playlist
Nice commercials. Even better if I could hear them over your laughter.
You should react to VE Day | Canadian Veterans Celebrated in The Netherlands and
The One-eyed Scout who Liberated a Whole Town by Himself
The last one is the greatest commercial of all time. OF ALL TIME!!!
Lagunitas IPA...very nice, the craft beer game is strong in both Canada and the US, I'm glad you picked a good one!
Thanks again my American Cousin for a very entertaining time. I can also remember playing street hockey, pond hockey, and also home made rinks. You mentioned the Islanders, I go back further than that, I remember going to Maple Leaf Gardens, in Toronto, and watching the Leafs play some of the original 6. Although I never played organized hockey, I did play shinney occasionally, and in my teen years working at a hockey rink driving a Zamboni. Keep up the good work Cuz.
Funny! I’d forgotten some of those ads. (-:
You missed the Bubba commercial with Grapes. That's a good one.
That was fun John, but I think your correct about being a bit vintage. Regardless, they were a fun blast from the past! Thank you.
John you really should move to Canada, you seem to really love us.
We Canadians love your video's on Canada ty we watch your video's all the time ty ❤
Thanks so much. 😊
Thank you for another GREAT video my American cousin ♥️🍁🍁🍁🇨🇦
I haven't seen half of these. Hilarious. We are more alike than we are different.
I’m from Saskatchewan. A handful of our boys played for the Islanders during their dynasty.
Jeff Douglas is the actor in the my name is Joe commercial, and he worked in radio at CBC the same network I worked at for 36 years, and he is a very nice guy. I asked him once about that commercial, and he said I hope when my career is over that is not the only thing I am remembered for.
These are old, as much as I know!!! I remember the last one, with Joe, the Canadian!!
I'm not sure if you've watched any, but your duct tape comment reminded me of the Red Green show. You should watch it if you haven't already.
@8:10, you almost blasted that beer laughing, LOL That was priceless !! Unlike most Canadian kids, I never got into playing hockey. I've never seen some of these commercials, they are pretty good !!
I’m glad you included the Joe Canada ad at the end.
You finished the video on a Canadian classic. "My name is Joe and I am Canadian."
The beaver one has always been my favourite.
I have the T-shirt, "If you're Canadian, show me your beaver".
That last one was classic. I was honestly hoping you'd show that one.
Very funny.
Joe Canadian has always been my favourite!
Those commercials bring back great memories. Bossy, Potivn, Butch, amazing team.
You seem to be about the same age as me, so I think there is something you will REALLY enjoy. At a "Just For Laughs" festival, William Shatner did a version of the "I Am Canadian" thing that Joe does... it cracks me up every time.
Thanks for the tip. And I did know he is Canadian. Scotty from Star Trek too - James Doohan
Ive seen a lot of people react to these and youre the first one to get the hockey jersey pull
You got a bit of Canada in ya.
Hey, John! I Am Canadian!….but I hate beer…sorry, I’d rather have a C.C and coke, but I do LOVE those Canadian beer commercials, thanks for the chuckles 😂
The "I Am Joe" commercial is a classic! That was the original "I am Canadian" ad, if I'm not mistaken, from at least 20 years ago, I think.
I saw the Maple Leaf win the Stanley Cup, your not old John
You should really watch “Strange Brew” if you want to take beer up a notch. Lol
I'd love for you to watch the famous "house hippo" commercial.
I love these. Best commercials ever! Thanks for the laughs!
Grew up on those beer commercials.. but the last 10 years i haven't seen any commercials for any beer. they don't even do promo in the beer boxes anymore. like the shirts and hats.
Too funny I was just flipped a coin beer or Pepsi.🇨🇦
Funny one for you. Buddy and me where headed to the registration for a ice fishing competition. When we crested the hill from the parking area, for some reason everyone looked at us. My buddy yells out, I’m Joe and I’m drunk on Canadian, and rolls down the hill. Took awhile for everyone to gain composure, just to show the impact of these commercials back in the day.
Hi there, just discovered your channel today, love the content so far that I've seen, think I've watched 2-3 videos so far. Love the Molson Canadian commercials, those are some older ones, however I still love watching them, brings back some fond memories. The one with the pet beaver was one of my favs, that and the last one.
Yep!!! 😂 Have been asked if I had running water, heat and a bathroom in my home.
I'm going to choose to believe that Americans were secretly in on the joke and taking the piss out of us as well!! Well.... maybe!!! 😂😂
