Funny how airlines hate this when they pull all kinds of stuff.
“An extremely effective way to fight against piracy is to offer a service that is considerably better than anything consumers can access via illegal means”-Gabe Newell
I don’t see how the airlines can claim to be a victim, if someone gets off the plane they save on fuel costs. If I went to a seafood buffet but only ate a bowl of soup, I don’t believe the restaurant would be complaining.
Exactly
The airlines don't have a problem over-booking flights, or bumping paying customers out of their seats though.
Exactly they don’t give a crap about stranding you somewhere for hours. We are the customer
There's a security risk involved when a passenger has already checked in, they don't show up for the second leg of the flight, and their bags are still in the cargo hold of the second plane. The airline is also inconvenienced for having to locate the passenger at the connecting airport because they don't want the passenger to miss the second leg of the flight. Tickets are priced in order to attract passengers who want to legitimately travel a two-legged flight. A skiplagger who books that ticket deprives the legitimate traveler from that seat causing the traveler to look for tickets on a competing airline.
@@RaymondHngi agree about the security risk for sure. But that’s not what the airlines were going to court for; they sued because they said they were losing money.
Skiplagging is the exception to the rule. All the major airline carriers should be very afraid to the point that they had better get good lawyers. They had better be prepared for the THOUSANDS of lawsuits filed by disgruntled flyers.
Fun fact, skiplagged won the lawsuit
Seems that rate structure needs to change.
I'M GOING TO DO NOTHING BUT SKIPLAGGING!! They charge WAY too much!!
They’re allowed to charge you fee upon fee upon fee for every itty-bitty little service but you’re not allowed to find a way around saving money
Airlines oversell seats on every flight so skip lagging should be perfectly legal.
Skiplagging is legal, but banning you for skiplagging is also perfectly legal
What does it matter if your seat is empty after the layover.. technically you paid for it anyway
skiplagging is free speech.
Skiplagging is a violation of the contract of carriage between the passenger and the airline.
@@RaymondHngand "citizens united" was a breach of Rousseau's social contract, lib. But sure, keep licking the boots of capitalists.
Why didn’t you ask them why they oversell tickets? Because “My personal terms of service” state that people should not sell 175 seats to people when only 170 exist.
If it is legal in one country (Italy), it should be legal everywhere. The airlines just want to get as much money from you as possible and they don’t like it when you find a way to get around their process.
It is legal to skiplag, but it is also legal to band you for doing so
The airlines will ban passengers for life fir trying to save some money, but they'll allow some nutcase who can't behave and cooperate with the flight attendants on a two hour flight access to fly again.
2:36”…and prevent other travelers from booking seats when they have an urgent need to travel”.
Yeah, I’m sure AA and other airlines lose sleep knowing there’s a possibility that travelers can’t book seats when they have an urgent need to travel. Bottom-line is that it’s all about making the biggest profit you can, at the expense of travelers who are in a bind. When someone has an urgent need to travel, it’s often at the last minute--when flights are exorbitantly higher. So not only are these airlines delaying and cancelling flights, but they’re intent on squeezing the last Dr top of blood from that proverbial stone.
I don't understand, the airlines are still getting paid. The plane might have one less seat, but the seat has been paid for so..... What's the issue?
It's probably minimal risk if you don't belong to that airlines frequent flyer program. Obviously don't check in luggage or it will go where you're not going. No roundtrips either, because the airline will surely cancel the rest of reservation if you miss part.
I love shorts cause this lead me on a rabbit hole on "Skiklagging" didn't even know it was a thing til now. Thanks!! 😂😂
I’m curious to know how they found out that girl was planning to do skiplagging. Personally, that’s just too risky to attempt.
The traveler has probably skipped lag before and the airlines have a record of that incident.
Flying is so exhausting
Then don’t fly simple
@@ricastar2931 thanks for your stupid response. You must not get much done if that’s the attitude you take towards anything that’s exhausting in life
@@cjeff99 people in the world is so defensive. I’m just saying there’s more options than flying commercial. You just chose the wrong choice
I have a better idea.. I call it Skip legging... Instead of taking a flight from City A to City B... I walk.
See the airlines don’t like it, and I understand that. But what the airlines is doing is just as WRONG as well. If the plane is stopping at an airport on its way to its final destination. Then it should NOT cost MORE to get book that flight and get off at that stop, then to book the entire flight. It’s up to the airline to refill that seat. It should not be our responsibility to do so.
Skip lagging is our way of fighting back against the stupidity of the airlines. If they don’t like it start charging less, to get off at the stop.
So until airlines change their policies I fully support skiplagging!.
So do you ask for a refund for the 2 haft of the flight?
Nope. The mad thing is a flight with a layover to somewhere farther can be cheaper than a direct.
How about they do something about the price gouging and the skiplagging would be a non issue. 😡
Airlines used to have good service - this is what deregulation causes. Capitalists simply cannot be in charge of themselves, and stay fair. We need more regulations to bring the capitalists to heel. They serve a purpose, but cannot be left on their own. 😎
Welp not a secret anymore smh lol
In What fantasy land does a direct flight cost $250?? Is that for like a 11pm flight on a Tuesday? A flight this weekened from Milwaukee to New Orleans was $800 roundtrip, and that was with lengthy layovers!
Nyc to san diego or los angelesneith zero layover is between 100 and 400 if u do it 2 weeks away
why do they care?? this does not explain why. you paid. and it saves them money in weight.
unauthorized deceptive ticketing practice
Airline, please explain your fking stupid prices 🤌
