If they question you about hidden city ticketing, you can always tell them that you had a life threatening medical emergency during your layover and had to go to the emergency room which caused you to missed your next flight. They are not allowed to ask for and require any proof of the visit because doing so would be a violation of HIPAA.
If you pay $200 for a plane ticket and save $100, now I can afford a hotel for 1 night plus dinner and I have a small weekend trip that boosts the airlines profits. If im charged the full $300 then im staying home and watching movies and not using the airline at all.
CariagaXIII This is worthless news from any news source. The first segment is about unethical behavior; the latter not, but only worthy of a side note story when all other important issues have been presented, AND there is extra time to fill.
I think "unethical" may be a bit of a stretch. Unethical implies some sort of harm, of which there is none here. Considering airlines overbook all flights, knowing some people won't show up for their flight, I don't see any downside for the airline. (They keep the money and some poor soul actually gets where they're going on time.) And I don't see any harm to the consumer. (They save money and get to where they needed.)
Unethical? I don't think you know what that means. Also, CNN does report things that are important. Everything on a news station doesn't have to be important issues. Jeez.
I once needed a flight from Panama City, Panama to Houston tx. one way direct was about $800. I thought that was pretty crazy. I started checking other places to go on vacation. I checked Panama City to Miami. flight was about $300, but I realized there was an option that allowed for a layover in Houston (the place I really wanted to visit) it was the same flight that costs $800 (same airline, same date, same flight). I booked the flight to Miami with the layover in Houston, arrived in Houston, picked up my bags (it was an international flight, you have to pick up your bags before you go thru customs and recheck them) and never got on the flight to Miami. we are a family of 4 so we saved about $1000. The biggest risk was if there was any weather/delays and the airline had to find a different flight for us they would have flown us to Miami.
Happens here in Australia too. I had to go from Perth to Melbourne once and the fare to Canberra via Melbourne was cheaper. So in Melbourne I just 'missed' the flight to Canberra.
This was once called an "open jaw" flight in the 1970s and 1980s. Believe it or not IDs weren't checked back then and most tickets were fully refundable. In the example in the video, when you get off the plane in Los Angeles, you could go to the gate departing for San Diego and sell your Dan Diego leg ( for $100 for example) to someone San Diego bound walking up to the gate. You pocket the $100, they submitted their original ticket for a refund. Lots of people did it. When the chance to start checking IDs opened up the airlines were thrilled to pounce on it. Ended the practice that day.
I still think booking on Saturdays or Tuesdays and 10 months prior to trip is the best way to go. But I do appreciate any hacks to go along with this method.
It’s usually cheaper to fly into LAX sometimes its cheaper to fly into San Diego. Either place you fly into you can either fly into San Diego and pay a few dollars and take the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner to LA or fly in to LA and take the Amtrak to San Diego. Thats also a cost saving idea which Ive done many times.
Cheers for this, been searching for "how to find inexpensive flights" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Beyarper Peyameron Process - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.
When I was employed by TW this was referred to as the 'point beyond' or 'hidden point'. It was cheaper to fly from SDF to MKE than to either CHI airport, the ticket fare structure read SDF/MKE.
Hidden city traveling doesn’t work as well anymore. United a and Delta have started charging more money more money to connect as connecting passengers congest the airport in the middle and use the lounge.
The reason people to do this is of course save money, but I think there is also the annoyance that the airlines are not billing passengers on a basis of the cost of the flight, but rather the popularity of the destination, for whatever reason. Back in the 80s there was a flight from Dallas, to St Louis via Memphis. The fare to Memphis was about a hundred dollars more, even though it was the first stop on the flight.
In Australia you cannot buy a money order with a credit card, so this won't work. You also have to pay fee for every money order and having multiple credit cards hurts your credit rating.
a friend and I took a trip from B'ham to Houston & skipped the 2nd leg of the trip to New Orleans cause we just wanted to vacation in Houston. Strangely enough a big storm came into the area as we landed in Houston & the 2nd leg was cancelled by the airline. My friend was refunded a great deal of our tickets because of this resulting in us getting a very cheap flight to exactly where we wanted to go. Yay us!
Great! I hope it's as unpleasant for the airlines as they've made flying for customers. I've no sympathy their rip-off alorhythm's been compromised. Maybe losing their massive advantage over the consumer will push them to, in some way, make air-travel less horrible.
I always try to check myself in a suitcase and travel in the baggage compartment ! Or better still stow away in the Aeroplane Undercarriage with a parachute and wit for the landing to be deployed before I deploy like James Bond 007 into the far wayward paradise that I would like to visit!
His website... essentially amounts to Free Speech... you cannot sue someone for informing people of a loophole. Or rather... you *_can_* sue them... but it damn well better be dismissed at the outset.
If you buy a ticket to a city you skip out on, how do you fly round trip? Do you book a separate return ticket from the city you actually intended to go to? Or do you try to hop on in the middle of a journey, the same way you hopped off? I feel like TSA wouldn't allow that...
Big thing he fails to mention in hidden city ticketing...if something happens to a flight, the airline will reroute you to your final destination via a different city....then what do you do? ex. buy a hidden city ticket to NYC but adding a leg to Bermuda...then the flight from NYC to Bermuda cancels and you find yourself going to MIA to Bermuda.
Ok the New York to Los Angeles animation is TOTALLY backwards. I know that this is not on a map but still they are on the wrong sides. LA should be on the left, NY on the right and the plane should be traveling from right to left.
faizan joyia airlines incentivise travellers to book round trip tickets.....so they make one ways way more expensive. I recommend you utilize a travel agent as they can sometimes get better one way rates through wholesaler providers that public can't
Book the round trip and just don't fly the return. As long as you don't do it too often, you could even get a partial refund (or credit with the airline) for the unused portion, if you cancel a few days in advance of your scheduled return flight.
I wonder if it's any cheaper to fly out of and into an airport near the major city you're going to. For instance instead of flying out of Chicago O'Hare fly out of the Chicago/Gary airport instead.
I blame all these websites apps for why flying sucks so much today. The airlines have to follow the lowest possible prices to the cent with the competitors or else nobody will fly their airline. They are all forced to charge for everything to make money. From what I can see flying hasn't gotten any cheeper and it just sucks more and they charge for everything now.
Also check nearby cities to one you plan to travel to. This is example it's cheaper and odlly makes more sense then other flights from South bend to new York instead of flying into new York fly into Newark new jersey and drive or ride into New York
This is great, but how do I know what airport to do my loop with? I'll be entering airport codes for hours in the computer to find my final arrival destination
+ Omar T - How did you even see that?!? I was doing fine before I saw that, now I'm all curious & concerned. 🤔 Maybe a disability or deformity. I hope she's okay.
None of it is worth it with the TSA harassing people. If its a destination in North America I just drive. Only time I need a flight is when going overseas but I don't do that a lot.
But why do hidden cities exist? I don't understand the economics behind it. Is it tax driving it? Localized competition? What is driving this counter-intuitive pricing?
Lol most flight staff have raspier voices because of damage to their vocal cords from over exposure of ionizing radiation during flights. Radiation exposure can reach 33 mRem for each hour above 10,000 feet from cosmic exposure. Fumes from jet fuel are also factored in too.
...this destroyed the air travel industry in Venezuela in 2012. To put it briefly, the government got wind of it, and didn't like it It got better... before it got worse
Checked skip lagged and hopper both approx 30%, £60 to £80 more expensive (Uk to India) than googling a standard comparison price checking site. "Taking the risk and gamble out of the airline pricing game?" Maybe not!
how can i fly from the philippines to new york cheap need to see my father in a nursing home but i dont have a budget to go there he is 91 and miss him so much
But it can only work for your final destination. It can't work for round-trip. I tried to pull this stunt by stopping in San Francisco and not finish my last flight to San Diego, and United Airlines told me if I did that, they would cancel my return fight.
God his voice is like someone taking a cheese grater to my ear drums! I tried to watch the segment but I couldn't even get a full minute into it before I couldn't take it anymore! His job is literally presentation, how can someone with a voice like THAT get a job presenting information??? The information should be the main focus, not the presenter!!
Can't they just price it fairly. If they did that wouldn't they're not be away two game the system. And shouldn't they be giving the customer the best deal they can anyway.
Wouldn’t your bags be taken to say example San Diego as that’s where journey ends, that’s where the ticket is booked for? You can’t just get off Los Angeles can you?
no. that was used for a terrorist's bombing in the 80's the airlines have to remove your baggage if your not on the flight. just tell the flight attendant you feel unwell and want to go to a doctor. these days you could just show a positive covid test and say your not feeling well enough to travel onwards and want to rest
If they question you about hidden city ticketing, you can always tell them that you had a life threatening medical emergency during your layover and had to go to the emergency room which caused you to missed your next flight. They are not allowed to ask for and require any proof of the visit because doing so would be a violation of HIPAA.

If this man can make a living as a reporter with that voice. You can do anything
MrSplendid tru
true! I had to quit watching after about 5 seconds!

I love Richard quest he is a very nice person to be interviewed with or listen to ...💯👍👍👍👍💗
Man this guys voice is amazing. Its powerful, angry(in a good way), dominant and very masculine.
Zeph I like his voice.
Thank you Zeph. People are criticising him but this is what makes us glued to his videos
A lot of companies don't allow that. If you are going one way you can go with no problem but if you need to return, they don't allow you to fly back
nothing is more dangerous then an educated consumer
Only issue could be when the overhead bins are full and the airline makes you check your bag at the gate.
The reason people to do this is of course save money, but I think there is also the annoyance that the airlines are not billing passengers on a basis of the cost of the flight, but rather the popularity of the destination, for whatever reason. Fixes the overbooking problem for Delta 🤣🤣

"New yoooowk, to los Angelees"
Great info to save money on flights. Awesome app too!

I thought Louie Armstrong came back to life for a second
C is for cookie, good enough for me
Booya cookie cookie cookie start with c. Lol
question- don't they cancel the return trip if you miss your connection?
Big thing he fails to mention in hidden city ticketing...if something happens to a flight, the airline will reroute you to your final destination via a different city....then what do you do? ex. buy a hidden city ticket to NYC but adding a leg to Bermuda...then the flight from NYC to Bermuda cancels and you find yourself going to MIA to Bermuda.

Wendover productions has a vid explaining it
but you'll never see CNN talking about corporate loopholes

this guy's throat must be burning red.
This is the same dude that was found sleeping in Central park with bunch of meth vibrator and rope around his penis
Airlines have known this for years and can charge you if you don't complete the whole travel, tried it once in accident
Also check nearby cities to one you plan to travel to. This is example it's cheaper and odlly makes more sense then other flights from South bend to new York instead of flying into new York fly into Newark new jersey and drive or ride into New York

Sebastian Mikosz is the now CEO of Kenya Airways
This is great, but how do I know what airport to do my loop with? I'll be entering airport codes for hours in the computer to find my final arrival destination
He should start singing Louis Armstrong songs.
What is wrong with that girl's arm at the end?
See this answer on quora... Why are women's forearm more twisted as compared to men?
+ Omar T - How did you even see that?!? I was doing fine before I saw that, now I'm all curious & concerned. 🤔 Maybe a disability or deformity. I hope she's okay.
NY to LA is a westbound flight, not sure why it is illustrated going eastbound
But if u check in the bag it will turn in your last location so ur pissed
So, guy is a Brit. That's how originally English supposed to be spoken.
Guess the airlines found out. I see no loopholes anymore.
None of it is worth it with the TSA harassing people. If its a destination in North America I just drive. Only time I need a flight is when going overseas but I don't do that a lot.
If you get of in LA ... Can u depart from LA as well?? Or do u have to drive all the way to San deigo
I like Richard Quest. He is one of the best on TV 👌🏾
Well if they didnt have such expensive AF prices we wouldnt need loopholes
I wouldn't try this on a round trip. A lot of times if you don't show up for a leg of your flight, the airlines will cancel your entire itinerary.
For everyone who is having problems with his voice what makes you think your voice so perfect?
But why do hidden cities exist? I don't understand the economics behind it. Is it tax driving it? Localized competition? What is driving this counter-intuitive pricing?
TC IronBear Supply and demand
If I were only listening to the guy's voice (and not actually watching the video), I would think he was a WWF wrestler.

Hopper only works for coach fares though.
Well if you fly on a plane that only stops to let passanger in without changing planes, you are screwed, they wont let you out the plane
I guess we live in such a perfect world, you guys should just re-tune your ears!
how can i fly from the philippines to new york cheap need to see my father in a nursing home but i dont have a budget to go there he is 91 and miss him so much
Airlines do the same to customers but when they get backfired from customers suddenly they shout hey what are ur doing?
this only works if you dont have any checked luggage
I would only use this for domestic flights.
But it can only work for your final destination. It can't work for round-trip.
I tried to pull this stunt by stopping in San Francisco and not finish my last flight to San Diego, and United Airlines told me if I did that, they would cancel my return fight.
This guy has Tyson Fury voice.
there is very few flights where those actually works
fantastic, but how does one get home again? Airlines will not allow you on in the middle hop of a flight. Get on at San Diego or don't get on at all.
how do you get back to NY, you cant board the plane in LA
How does this guy get on television?
Hi voice sounds like Tony Robbins' voice!
Th ask for the suggestion.
You're assuming our time isn't valuable.
what if i whant to fly round trip?

Site is not working.
K A I think it already went under
McKenzie McMillan believe it was shutdown by the airlines

Gersten Karlheinz I absolutely hate it. It sounds disgusting
It sounds like discount Russian (the accent, not the language).
