Have you noticed that teams popularity depends A LOT on liveries? For example almost no one wanted to pick Sauber for their F1 2017 Career Mode but Sauber is one of the most popular teams in F1 2018
@@bfapple The logo is replicating oxygen, the 2 representing the number of oxygen atoms, not representing a multiplication factor. The 2 is in the wrong place for a factor anyway.

Nice history of Sauber. The Monisha Kaltenborn years were a disaster and almost put the lights out for good. Now with Alfa Romeo the Sauber team can come back to the midfield again. Speaking about midfield. Ligier/Prost will be a good idea for the next video. Then you have included all my midfield teams trip down memory lane.
Indeed, Sauber have a bright future for the time being. I do hope one day they will get an exclusive engine deal, kinda like what they originally had with Merc back in 93-94. I'd say I'll make two separate videos on those teams. And they won't be too far away that's for sure.

Hopefully they can do even better in 2019 and 2020 with Kimi! 2019 is atleast looking promising, considering they had Simone Resta joining them already in summer and next year's car has been in development since, yet despite that they managed to score big amount of points during 2nd half of 2018.

The 2015 Banco Brasil blue was awful. It looked like fibreglass gel coat! Some great liveries in their history though. I loved the 25th anniversary car. Thanks for the video!
2:22 the C12 was the first F1 car i saw in person on the Hungaroring when I was 14 years old. With the Ilmor engine it had a completely different sound from the field, absolutely insane, like a mix between an indy and a F1 engine. Its backfires was out of this earth, sounded like huuuge heavy steel pipes rolling off a truck in some industrial accident. imagine pipes for oil pipelines. Sometimes it even sounded like the engine is malfunctioning or something. A very heavy industrial like sound i never heard any similar since then and probably never will (qualy trim). It was very loud too. The car wasnt fast but the sound did make up for it.
Yeah that's true...It was an Ilmor engine instead of Mercedes who weren't ready...too many problems... AutoCAD had mention the engine as Ill- more...it was funny...

Switched to Illmor because of the FOCA laws and the fines...Then they had the complete package of Mercedes... Illmor had issues with the exhaust system... 3 or 4 times engine caught fire...
As of about one week ago, the team will no longer run as Alfa Romeo Sauber, instead as Alfa Romeo Racing, marking the end of the Sauber name's long and relatively great run in Formula One. I'm also sure the car won't be given a "C##" chassis designation either, so 2018 was truly the end of the story, as they say. the Ferrari B team returns!(remember BMS Italia/Dallara?)
What was ridiculous was that the FIA made them compete in 2009 as BMW Sauber despite BMW having left. I know they have rules against changing the name too close to the season start but surely they could have made an exception when the name included a car manufacturer who'd left the sport
Sauber should be a bombshell next season with kubica and raikonnen, they could really challenge for the the top the in the grid. Their relationship with Ferrari is probably for the best. Ferrari can use it as breeding ground for their new talent (le clerc) and send of some of their older drivers near the end of their career to it.

Broker sponsored Sauber with title partnership at the start of '94.They didn't pay their bills so from the French Grand Prix (race 7/16) they were removed from the car and Tissot first appeared on the engine cover in their place. Many other brands appeared with small stickers as that livery developed (including porn mag High Society!). There is a whole chapter here that hasn't even been touched upon!

Marcus effectively saved sauber, if it wasn't for ericsson, sauber would be no more, his sponsors indirectly own sauber now. and again, pascal in that sense was a paydriver back then. they did him a favour in letting him drive that season. in my oppinion, it's mercedes' fault that he's not on the f1 grid no more. but where monisha back then made a mistak, not to take the mercedes engine for one or two more years of pascal. charles would have found his way in to formula one anyways.

I really like the early 2000's Saber liveries with Red Bull and Petronas. The colours combined look really good in my opinion.
