I'm not a fan of horror movies but my favourite is The Thing (1982), it's about a group living in the American research station in Antarctica who discover a shapeless alien that multiplies by killing other forms of life and imitating them, thus everyone becomes uncertain about who is earthling and who is alien. The tension is so high and I think that what makes it excellent.
If I may suggest: Could you make an episode about British proverbs? I started to know some recently and they are really interesting.

The Omen. The Shinning. Anything to do with supernatural is very scary to me but great too! Love the genre! Not too gory, just thrilling! Oh and any movies with rats and mice are utterly terrifying!!! I recall watching Dracula at the movies and jumping at a scene with rats and the man next to me commenting that he found it odd I didn’t jump at anything else but that scene!!! All the Dracula movies are awesome as well!!! Hereditary was very disturbing, I thought… and yes I guess that made it very scary! 😬🙈

I'm not really into scary movies but I liked watching "Get Out" with Daniel Kaluuya is an American psychological horror movie, moving away from films of the genre "denouncing racism by a phylosophical argument through a poignant and moving work.

Getting old, I'm no longer fond of watching scary movies... my nerves are too weak LOL But from the ones I've watched when I was young I'd pick up Psycho. And there are two films that are very scary to me: "Hush ... Hush, Sweet Charlotte" and "A Taste Of Fear" from the early sixties. And here in Germany there was the "Dr. Mabuse" film series. I was 12 years when I saw one of them... not a single drop of blood but a very creepy atmosphere. I was scary for weeks!

There is one more movie that didn't scare me much, and i didn't realy liked it, but the writer has made a fabula in engenious way to make you nervous.... i can't remember the title... It is a movie serial.... everything is in "follow the signs" manner... follow the signs to cheat death.... Death is angry becouse a group of young people had cheated it. and wants it's revanche. they are recognizing and following signs, but that was the most irritating thing.... they see pigeons and run ttowards them waving and screaming " go away of pigeons". a boy joins the show. He thinks they call him to have a fun with pigeons and he waves and runs to them, something falls on him, or on someone from the group who tries to save him, i can't remember. ... and later, ... a shadow of a man with a hook is a sign. a girl enters the lift. a man with artificial hand is in there. she sees that, and get scared to death, and starts to fight. a man with artificial hand is suprised, he had no any intention to kill or hurt her, so he gets frightened. Her hair tangles arround his artificial hand and there is a real bloody mess.... Follow the signs to cheat death, but all signes lead to death.... It was hell irritating... I was just angry after watching that movie. I felt tricked. It's like a storryteller intrigate your mind throughout the whole story, but there is nothing at the end. Empty story. A spactator is just outplayed. He lost his evening for nothing

I saw The Omen in a movie theatre when it first came out. I was quite young and it was quite scary but I watched the whole thing. I'm not too keen on scary shows though. I remember seeing some of Orfeu Negro on a black and white screen when I was a kid and the carnaval scenes with the skeleton are burned into my brain. Fascinating but as that little girl said in the video, I remember thinking someone might grab me on my way to bed.

    1:02 - _"...by Stephen Kubrick..."_
I could almost see Stephen King's wry expression if he could've heard that, given his not exactly positive opinion about Kubrick's adaptation of his novel... 😁
In my case, it would also definitely be Kubrick's _"The shining"_ , with _"Splice"_ a somewhat close second place, though I must say I'm not so much into the horror genre nowadays, plenty of cheap, uninspired and repetitive stuff around. Not to mention I've had the misfortune of watching some absolutely horrific real things like cartel execution videos (if you care about your sanity at all, _never, ever_ watch that crap...), and that makes all these "horror" films seem even more lame and silly to me than they used to before.
But I can still appreciate the good horror stuff, of course. When I was a child I found it very strange that some people could be so willing to be scared by a movie, novel, etc, until one day I came across these words (in the prologue of a horror stories anthology, no less! 😏) which made it seem actually quite logical: _"Fear, also in animals, is an alarm that helps us avoid, or tries to make us avoid, dangerous situations. An ancestral alarm for the benefit of our survival. Psychiatrists say that fear is healthy, but fear, keep in mind, that remains in our control. And so it is, paradoxal as it may sound, to face up to fear."_
I haven't watched _"Hereditary"_ yet, might be a good idea to give it a try. Cheers, Mitch, mate! 😎
