      Marika Serasini, me too as a Italian I dislike Berlusconi but to be hones it's better Boris Johnson and the Uk government than that italian. In Uk the people is much more free than italian people thanks to Boris and Uk government's role played in preventing the Covid 19 spreading and coming back to a more normal life. In Italy it's the complete opposite because of government's hateful limitations of our freedom. It's better Boris than Berlusconi and fast all italian politicals.

    Wow Brighton seems like a nice place! I like how PM and his persona is a like a sort of metonym for all the policy and governance of the party in power. Also quite true in India.

  • @mariannereuter
    @mariannereuter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Oh, that's an interesting subject! I was in fact wondering what Brits think about their PM. For me as a German it's unthinkable that our political leaders would have a party while their people are in lockdown. And then the story about the booze in the suitcase ... 🤦I can see why people would want him to leave. To me he was unbearable from the start because of brexit. I never quite understood why anyone would leave the EU. We should focus on what unites us, not what divides us ...

    • @klimtkahlo
      @klimtkahlo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% agree with you! That is why Wales and Scotland should part ways from England so they can rejoin the E.U. I say on the merits of their lovely accent they just get immediate admission!

      Nothing unites us. And Germany is part of the few countries that really has an interest in staying in the EU.

    • @geemo4284
      @geemo4284 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He’s a nasty piece of work. He was the main momentum behind the decision to have a referendum on the EU and he lied, continuously to the British public about what Brexit meant. He’s not delivered on anything he promised, and the country is in a complete mess. As you probably realise, almost half of the country voted to stay in the EU, and if you counted all the young people who could vote now, but couldn’t back then, you would probably find that the majority didn’t want to leave. Many of us are still devastated.

    I think they should get rid of him, he is looking like a clown. Even I'm not fan of conservative side but I think Geoffrey Cox would be a good leader for UK because I think he has a charismatic appearance and also his rhetoric is good.

  • @islamadam8502

    Thanks for the video 👍 A question: Is "BoJo" the normal nickname of the PM or is it a negative one? I'm asking because it sounds to me like the word "Bozo".

    • @EasyEnglishVideos
      @EasyEnglishVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hahaha I think that’s just a coincidence… I’m not too sure who coined the phrase BoJo, but I remember it being used before he became prime minister, possibly in his mayor of London days? Either way, it’s used by his peers and colleagues and not meant negatively. There’s a Wikipedia page of PM nicknames - did you know Winston Churchill was known as ‘Winnie’?

    The lady in white hat speaks so interestingly, could you, please, explain some phrases/idioms she used? e.g. she says "I've got them all ... " in 1:54, she uses the "whether or not" phrase at the end of her sentence in 8:08 (I couldn't understand the meaning there), and she uses the word "fogeys" in 9:12, and finally she says "He had his days with me..." in 9:52. What do these phrases/words/idioms mean?

    • @EasyEnglishVideos
      @EasyEnglishVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Great questions!
      1. I’m not too sure what she meant. I feel she might mean; “I know what they’re all like”
      2. It’s short for “whether I agree/believe/think, or do not agree/believe/think”
      3. fogeys is a synonym for old fashioned or conservative person
      4. “Had his day” would mean “his time is over, in my opinion”
