Don't any of the Game Boy movie games such as Shrek have very low Pixley Graphics though cuz I have to agree with angry video game nerd on the fact that you don't want to watch Shrek on a tiny Game Boy screen where it has low graphics.
I remember how much of a treat it was to being able to watch a few select films ANYWHERE. It was so big to me. And videogames was like this own amazing world. I cherish my childhood.
I’m so glad I got to experience life like this, a lot of people my age definitely got right into smart phones, which is fine but something about the Gameboy made it so much more authentic and real. It was everyone’s first glance into the future and it ages very well. Love your content, ordering a GBA from y’all soon!
I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother owned Shrek 1 and 2 on DVD and I would use the GBA versions to watch on the go. However, the other movie they made on GBA, Shark Tale, I only owned on GBA. That might be why I didn’t think the animation was that bad as a kid.
Brother, back in the days this was miracle to watch a whole movie on GBA. Looks like your childhood was fortnite 240fps EPIC settings... you have no idea :D
I remember having the Strawberry Shortcake one. I also remember plopping it in expecting a game only to be super disappointed when it started playing an episode of the show.
I remember I had a ton of the CN specials with Johnny Bravo, Ed, Edd, N Eddy, I am weasel, cow n chicken, codename kids next door. Also had Shrek 2, SpongeBob, and the first two episodes to Dragon ball GT. I remember I'd replay the hell out of that intro on car rides.
I constantly watched SpongeBob on the gameboy and I just vividly remember SpongeBob screaming “BACKING UP” the entire time and me just staring at the gameboy the entire time
I do. went camping with my dad as a kid and we watched the literal SpongeBob cartridge you were just watching on my SP lol. the exact episode too. mermaid and barnacle boy. he thought the "STOP SHOUTING IM NAPPING" part was really funny.
Ah yeah. I remember that back in 2007/2008 era as teenager. That was awesome how I found Sonic X video cartridge to allow me watch Sonic anime on the go on my GBA sp white. Man, that's was awesome how we able watch SpongeBob, Sonic and other classics cartoon show on the go before we had phone in 2000s. Man, the 2000s was something else back than. Imagined that alternate universe of 2000s would be amazing if GBA video continue and got Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Doug and 90s and including Kim Possible as well
I doooo!!!! I remember having almost every single movie for the Gameboy advance SP it gave me so much time to do stuff when I was doing the Canada's Wonderland road trip
I remember when I was in first grade and on Mayday (May 1st) we were all allowed to bring our games to class for that day only and we had the chance to exchange games or devices during the free class. Even the teacher brought her kids GameCube and Xbox for those who couldn’t bring anything. The main devices kids in the class had were the latest 2 Gameboys and the first Nintendo DS. I had the DS and my mom only allowed me to bring one game, so I brought my new Robots game. I was a big Sonic fan and I saw that one of my classmates had the Sonic X show for his Gameboy. I was never able to watch Sonic X at home because I never knew what channel it was on (I was like 5 or 6) and my parents didn’t exactly know what I was talking about (cause they were parents lol). Out of his entire collection of games he brought to class, I chose the Sonic X one, traded my new DS with him, and spent the entire class watching the first two episodes of the series. Probably was a waste of time for watching and replaying a show during a rare occasion in school, but I was still the happiest girl in class to be able to watch one of my then favorite shows.
OMG!!! I remember when my Gameboy Advance SP was still working properly, I would watch “Shrek 2” all the time. It’s strange to me how much time has already passed.
@@DKOldies Yeah, it had little disc's that played black and white versions of Nickelodeon shows. There was a color version but I never had one. The quality was awful but I still loved it.
This was the COOLEST THING back in the day. Shrek 2 was definitely in heavy rotation on the gbaSP. Imagine if they never added a backlight and imagine us only having the original Gba to watch these on 😂😂😂😂
I absolutely adore Hotel Dusk and the Ace Attorney games, fantastic games all around. I would totally recommend playing Apollo Justice because even though some of the cases are pretty lackluster and it doesn’t come near the quality of the originals or TGAA, it’s still super fun and wacky and has some great characters
I never had any of these movie cartridges, just games. But I remember my cousin letting me watch one of the shrek movies on my gameboy with his cartridge.
I was in the car with my older brother he was born in 1999 and my mom gave him a Gameboy and I saw him on his Gameboy advance SP watching SpongeBob so I looked and I said that's cool that you can watch movies on the Gameboy and he said yeah so he gave the Gameboy to me
Fun Fact. Some of the cartridges have anti recoding on them. That meant you can not hook it up to the gameboy player on Gamecube so you would not record it
I think I was like 5-6 thinking one of these cartoon cartridges was a game… needless to say I lost my patience thinking it was the longest game intro ever so I remember trading it to a friend for both Pokémon fire red and the nightmare before Christmas video game. A hustler was born that day.
Man i didnt know this abt gameboy...but i remeber the sega gamegear had a tv antenna and you could watch live tv on the gamegare...it blew my 6 year old mind at the time
bruh i already commented but this was what made the GBA SO Legit. i feel like these were the future. and the "Video Now" company should've went into business with Nintendo around the time of the GameCube's lifecycle to make them compatible cuz their disks were THE SAME SIZE. the Gamecube couldn't play DVD's so it would've been SOMETHING to atleast push the envelope. SUCH a missed opportunity 🤦♂️
I remember playing the Cartoon Network racing game for the DS and actually got to watch some episodes of the different shows that was in the game. The sad thing was I never unlocked any of the other ones so I just had the one episode of Dexter's Laboratory which was the only episode unlockable by default.
I actually never used these even tho I had my SP. Dad was a hell of a mechanic and fixed someone’s car for a psp right at release with a ton of games and movies for so that was my childhood right there
I remember watching courage the cowardly dog the pond episode under my blanket with the volume down at my grandma's trailer in my room staying up while it rained ☔
I watched movies on my psp or I would play on my ds I miss all the old consoles but also funny how the basket when red riding hood runs away fades in and out of existence
They didn't. You had to purchase a separate attachment that had a headphone jack in it (now we know where Apple got that idea lol). I haven't seen an SP up close since mine got stolen 15 years ago, but I'll never forget this annoying little detail.

I remember these one it was golden day when we didn’t have cell phone and didn’t know much about the internet
My friend will always asked me what I’m playing I would be saying I’m not playing I’m watching
There were portable DVD players during that time as well as other cartridge-based devices.
I remember having a 3 episode family guy UMD disc that came with my psp and i swear i wore those 3 episodes out.
it is now officially called a MovieBoy

Shrek 2 on the GameBoy Advance. How it was truly meant to be enjoyed

I don't know why, but watching videos on low resolution screens like GBA and DS just feels so satisfying compared to high quality screens.
Não sei se é a nostalgia. Mas a qualidade dos jogos ficam muito surpreendente nesses videogames.

the GBA movies worked on DS lites? fascinating
