I had never heard of Agnes Obel. She is intoxicating! I think I am headed towards a wonderful rabbit hole of discovery. Thank you for this reaction, Adam.
This isn’t almost like a composition. It IS a composition. And it’s brilliant! Cinematic and evocative. A meditation on the meaning of meaning. Thank you for sharing this with us 💜❤️🔥💜
I've read the name Agnes Obel here and there but never got to give it a listen until now. What a beautiful piece of art, great find. Again Adam, thanks for that and thanks to whoever recommended it to you.
Oh my gosh Adaaaammm... Where do you get all these great recommendations from??? Again a band I have never heard of before! I love that song and rhythms! It is such a great Vienna Waltz!!!
you can check out my playlist, where i have collected some nordic artists, who are not that well known in the rest of the world. you might find one or two delights

Agnes is perfect to listen to on rainy days! :) I'd love to see you check out Keep the Streets Empty for Me - Fever Ray, if you haven't heard it before!
Hi dude!!. I've never heard of this artist before.. Liked the strings!! Has a European feel!! Very classic!! Her voice..pure unique talent!! Wow wow!! Liked your reaction!!
Hey Adam, I know you know Eivør, I am just amazed there is no reaction to Trollabundin. My favorite is the live version in 2013, her singing and the clip of Norway is amazing, the combination makes me emotional every time I watch...
Heard about her, but never listened. Thanks for the introduction, will definately check out more from her 😊 Listened much to minimalistic classical music from the 70s and 80s (especially John Adams) so this was great.
You should check out it’s happening again, it’s not her most complex song but I find it so beautiful. Familiar is probably one of her most popular and it’s certainly good as well. She also has a whole bunch of lovely instrumentals and she just released a new album called Myopia, which is great!
First heard Agnes Obel when I followed up on AURORA's playlist recommendations. AO seems to be a master of haunting neo-impressionism. Three of her songs were featured in the German Sci-fi TV series DARK: Season 1: Familiar Season 2: It's happening again th-cam.com/video/nUpep2NDHEo/w-d-xo.html Season 3: Broken sleep "Broken Sleep" is one of my favorite AO pieces!
Im glad you came around to Agnes. There are a lot of good tracks both live and video's. Try the video Familiar, she does an impressive voice change. I thought it was another male singer, until i saw it live.
that "someone" you mentioned in the beginnig was me, haha, and yes, i've enjoyed your reaction. finally you did it, so thank you a lot! she has a lot of very beautiful songs and i guess you'll will listen at least to some other songs by her, too. it's headphones and wine - music.
My assumption was right, I thought this sounded "Scandinavian" in quality to me (could have been an Icelandic artist for that matter). I especially love that it seems there are still people out there willing to listen to songs (or compositions) longer than 2-3 min, which I find fabulous! With this, as you mentioned, a journey is still possible. Might I suggest an other artist for you to react (sorry to "intrude" with this, didn't know where else to place it): Gjon's Tears (that's the artist's name), the song I would choose first would be "Tout l'univers": th-cam.com/video/EuimHmJMEFA/w-d-xo.html
The name drew me in, I must have listened to some of hers a couple of years back. Much enjoyed, thanks Adam. Reminds me of Hania Rani 'Glass', worth checking if you've not heard it th-cam.com/video/l0yRNQj2_tc/w-d-xo.html
I've been a huge fan of Agnes Obel for a couple years now. Here's a few more of my favorite newish female artists Aurora, London Grammar, Aldous Harding, Katie Melua, Chelsea Wolfe, Dry Cleaning, and Brittany Howard.
Myopia - th-cam.com/video/G2bpm8bkVLo/w-d-xo.html is a little more rythmic, but still these haunting themes. Island of Doom - Here I would go with the official video: th-cam.com/video/R0-HVFEjOlE/w-d-xo.html In this does some experimenting with electronic voice manipulation - Its very Kate Bush'ish.
First again...not that it matters...kinda does. I'm sure this comment will be edited, gimme 5 mins...it'll happen. Also, could you, please Adam, react to Where Is The Love by Black Eyed Peas...yea its old, but still relavant.relevant. This was a brilliant song as well, love all the elements used. Moreover than Where Is The Love, you need to check out Lindsey Stirling "Elements" or "Crysyalized", same artist. She's amazing. BEST MONDAY EVER!!!
Hi Duchess, always a pleasure to have you here. Thank you! It would be hard for me to react to Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love as it's such a well known song and I already know it, so it would be less of a reaction really. However, I know very little of Lindsey Stirling and I haven't listened to her in years - this I will definitely check out! Hope you're keeping well!
here is something completely different, the blues-band "kaleo" from iceland. if you want to know how icelandic blues sounds, check it out. th-cam.com/video/Da5qQD_RpEQ/w-d-xo.html the song is in icelandic, but you can switch on english subtitles. i guess you've never heard this song before and i think no one ever did a reaction video on this song. they have sold an incredible amount of records here.
Reminds me of the 1980s Windham hills samplers.just mellow but no singing. Try Liz story and George Winston( my favorite pianist) . Sounds like Enya. Good chill music.
Adam, BEFORE you listen to the cover by Corvyx(sp) because I know you will- listen to original RagNBones and Pink " anywhere away from here" this must be heard prior. You will understand when you DO corvyx version. Thanks Adam
Believe me Margaret, I’ve listened to it a lot already. Rag’n’Bone Man and P!nk are two of my favourites, I listened instantly the moment it dropped. I’m super pumped for the Corvyx and Joey cover.
hey adam, i'm really interested in what you think about samaris. she has a very unique voice and the music is soothing electronic beats combined with classic clarinette. i'm sorry for you that the lyrics are in icelandic. if i find the time, i'll make a quick translation for you. the lyrics are from the 17th century, poems, turned into music. th-cam.com/video/iuzB6YNZM8c/w-d-xo.html what's your opinion? another chance to be the first one to react to this really unique young musicians. since they have started around 2012, especially the singer, jófríður ákadóttir has become an important part of the icelandic music scene with many solo-projects. Þú, haf! sem ber tímans og harmanna farg // you, sea! who carries the weight of the times and the sorrows þú hugraun mér vekur // you cause me mental distress í hjarta mér innst, þá þú brýzt um við bjarg // in the innermost part of my heart, you crash on the cliffs það bergmála tekur // it starts to echo Þinn niður er hryggur, þinn hljómur er sár // your ripple is sad, your sound is bitter, pú hrellir svo muna // you intimidate the mind so sem brimdropinn hver væri beiskasta tár // as if each drop of surf were a bitter tear hvert báruhljóð stuna // each sound of a wave were a sigh Og dimmur var ægir og dökk undir él // and dark was the ocean and dark, under the hail var dynhamra-borgin // was the thunderous cliffside og þá datt á náttmyrkrið þögult sem hel // and then the darkness of night fell, silent like death og þungt eins og sorgin // and heavy like grief Við hafið eg sat fram á sævarbergs stall // by the sea I sat on a sea rock ledge og sá út í drungann // and saw into the gloom þar brimaldan stríða við ströndina svall // where the great heavy wave surged by the shore og stundi svo þungan // and sighed so heavily as a nation of seafarer and with a husband being a fisherman, this songs goes deeply into my spine, it touches my roots in a way i've never expected.

Glad to see you found her - this is from her album "Aventine". Ms Obel writes, produces and plays multiple instruments on her albums...
YESSSSSSS OMG! So happy to see you covering queen Agnes from Denmark! Her best song to me is "Familiar", you should definitely take a look at it!
This isn’t almost like a composition. It IS a composition. And it’s brilliant! Cinematic and evocative. A meditation on the meaning of meaning. Thank you for sharing this with us 💜❤️🔥💜
Amazing. Love her music, Familiar and Fuel to Fire are literally 🔥

Again Adam, thanks for that and thanks to whoever recommended it to you.

Oooh I love this song. It is so good. Heard it on an episode of Wentworth a few years ago and was hooked immediately.
Oh, I love Agnes Obel! I've been really wishing channels would react to less known artists like this.
OMG that song is from the series DARK! I loved all of them but this one was my favorite!

Wow wow!!

May I ask, what does "European feel" mean?
I kept saying “how beautiful” and was in a state of almost confusion. Cool
I love Agnes Obel - I listen to her often.
I love the clean sort of contemporary classic quartet- ish ness. The sound is so pure and purring.
