  • In this video I show the diagnostic process to eliminate throwing parts at the issue that won't ever fix the problem. This particular vehicle was 2014 Honda Civic, but the testing to verify the system operation is across the board.

Ha! That kind of work from another shop can turn you upside down and make you scratch your head! Just shows you can never assume.
Nice video Sadel! Teaches techs to be thorough in diagnosing. Thanks for sharing!

Geez, that’s some body shop repair! Such a stupid error. I worked on a Civic of that generation (same instrument panel) where it had all of the same errors. Noticed the brake fluid very low, ended up being a slow leak on passenger front caliper piston seal.
    Great video, Sadel!

That's crazy, hadn't seen that yet, but good to know!

Love your videos. I thought that it was a VR sensor, because it only had two wires. If it had been a VR sensor, then the polarity would not have mattered. But at the end of the video it can be seen that the signal is a low voltage square wave. It must be a Hall effect sensor, or an advanced VR sensor, that are grounded to the wheel strut.

Either Hall Effect or Magneto Resistive (MR).

Sometimes I don't understand why some techs do those simple mistakes. Great info as always. Regards.

Could of been color blind, One of my mechanic friends was color blind, and I did all the wiring jobs for him.

That definitely a possibility we thought of afterwards

My money is on a lack of care and or system understanding. Previous mechanic probably never heard of active wheel speed sensors.

I will guess that they changed the sensor with an AM Part, was not sure if it was wired the same, swapped wires to test, failed, left it as is and called you without telling you the story and not knowing that without telling the story, that the repair price is double now for messing it up in the first place so go to the guy who screwed you over to get your money back or if that was yourself, dont do that again or tell the full story next time. All maintenance needs receipts with explanations or tell what you screwed up yourself to save real money.

Why would I idiotically cut the harness and swap the wires around??? I guess you missed the part of when this was in an accident and it was fixed this way then brought to be checked after the sensors did not fix it.

I did not say that YOU did it, I said THEY, I have too much respect for you for that. In the context of the story, yourself means the owner, not you, if they are the one to work on their own car, cheers.@@DTEAuto
