    pumped, can wait for the new season ! and not hard to tell your dealing with Toyota USA, theres no way Toyota Canada would modify a truck ! they gave me such a hard time about my 3'' lift on my Tacoma, I had to take it off.

    • @Maritimer
      @Maritimer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I had a Vibration, and they said it was from the lift..... and wouldn't look at it until it was off, not sure if you're in Canada or not but Toyota Canada is Nothing like Toyota USA, they don't even like bigger than stock tires..... it's insane...

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the build on the T4R! Can I ask what not a Premium with sunroof and leather? I am thinking of ditching Tacomas and getting a 4runner first qtr next year and I don't really need leather, and figured i'd cover the seats anyways with covers. Your thoughts?
    Keep up the good work, I met you guys at Expo East, Awesome group of gents!
    PS: How do you like the iPad mount there in the T4R? Think it's a RAM unit that bolts to a seat rail bolt correct?

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tacoma's will always have more space including the bed, but the T4R comfort level is a step above. To each their own I suppose. We like both platforms. Thanks, we hope to see you at Expo again. We haven't settled on a perfect solution for the iPad in the T4R yet.

    What recover point is that do yall have a link to it?? Love yalls vids keep up the good work!!!

    • @msoverland

      It's an ARB recovery point. You can contact ARB USA for details.

  • @Nathans_Margarita_Salt
    @Nathans_Margarita_Salt 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    what kinda of Old Man Emu shocks did I see you guys put on the rear end? I have a 14' T4R and am planning on going with OME myself, those didnt look like the typical Nutrocharger shocks?

  • @luigavino631
    @luigavino631 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jason, what made you switch to AT for the tacoma? I know the MT is "fun" to drive and keeps things intersting. But does AT have the edge in terms off road use because of the additional features?

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You nailed it. Off road capability and nimbleness was big piece of it but honestly it was drivability for the rest of the family that was the biggest piece. Add that all to get with passing cups of Cheerios and bottles of water to a toddle and it all made sense.

  • @Gnaw85

  • @thomasleonardini2098
    @thomasleonardini2098 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That red recovery point you installed on the 4runner, what brand is that and will it fit on the tacoma? if not what do you suggest for a recovery point on a second gen tacoma? I have an ARB Deluxe Bar like yours and and unsure about rated recovery points on the front of my truck.

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't have the ARB recovery point, the factory point is your only option depending on the bumper you have. They do have a recovery point for a Hilux and I'm farily certain it'll fit a Tacoma. You'll need to verify that with a quick call to ARB USA. Thanks Tommy!

    I have a 2016 Trial Premium with KDSS in Richmond, so I'm excited to see the New England adventures and hope to catch up with you on a future trip - thanks for the video!
    Questions - are you guys using the BP-51 setup for a FJ on the 4R? or is it a pre-production model? What about KDSS? You guys mention spacers for the stabilizers, but not sure if you needed a work-around for KDSS...

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those BPs were the first 4Runner install with ARB. They do have a KDSS option. I think they are very similar to the FJ kit if not the same. Contact ARB directly to be sure.

      Thanks for the info - I also would like to understand more about the mods to the Bull Bar that's only made for the 2010-13 models - ARB makes some great equipment but for some reason has left out the latest 4runner from the good stuff - also love the new season & excited to see where you guys go next...

    Excellent work guys! You have some nice rigs! I've watched all of the seasons, and have just finished the second round of Season 3. As an amateur radio operator, I'm interested in details on your antenna setup... What did you use for antennas on the 4runner's front bumper?
    Also, I noticed the bumper sticker on the back of Boomer the Camper Van... Cool to see another ham (Spencer) in the northeast really interested and involved in overlanding!

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the MSO trucks run CB and GMRS antennas. The camper van runs CB, GMRS and Ham antennas. Our primary radio of use was a Midland MXT100 Micromobile GMRS radio. That radio is a game changer for the price point and audio is either clear or OFF. Best reception during the trip was 4 miles.

  • @marlonpdot

    I'm torn between getting a Tacoma and 4Runner Trail edition. Which truck do you guys like better? I'm leaning towards the Tacoma because of the truck bed space since it'll be my DD, family car and off-road vehicle. But I do like the interior space, head room and looks of the 4Runner over the Taco. Really tough choice.

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If space is your objective, you'll get more from a Tacoma with a cap over the bed. Both vehicles are dreamy; with the 4Runner leading the way on creature comforts.

    did you run spacers to fit 285/70/17s on the 4runner oem wheels? i have volk racing TE37X 18x9s with 285/65/18s and it fits but I'm curious about what to do with my 17s since the stock tires aren't so great. are the spacers needed? what did you run?

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are running spacers, but they aren't necessary to fit. The spacers actually resulted in more rubbing.

      $15K should get you close. The tent or sleeping solution can usually cost you the biggest chunk. This 4Runner may go for sale if you're interested - email gsaliba13@gmail.com for details

    I hate to ask but how (much worse) is the gas mileage on the 'Runner with the 488 gears (and of course the weight of the upgrades)

    • @msoverland
      @msoverland  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gears went on our Tacoma. Gas mileage did drop a bit but the gears are set where they need to be now. Before the powerless was a major concern pulling trailers in the woods.

      Oh, okay - my mistake. I guess the gears were for the towing needs, and you're not going to tow with the T4R...

    • @rogue109

      I'm confused about the number of people lately who want to go GMRS. You need a specific license for GMRS that is not included with the whole HAM tech. license, its a separate deal. Additionally, a HAM tech license will give you far more capabilities, options and way more power (range). GMRS radios are 5 watts, 2m mobile are 15 to 100 watts (selectable) and far better range. If you are going to get licensed, why not go HAM? My overlanding group (NorthWestOverland) uses 2m...it's super clear and not at all difficult to get licensed for.

    • @ChrisLyons
      @ChrisLyons 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +rogue109 yes, but there is also no test, no groups to join, no conversations about signal flow and wave propagation patterns to suffer through, no pressure whatsoever. I can order the license online just as easy as shopping at Amazon. It is convenient in a way that HAM will never be.

    • @ChrisLyons
      @ChrisLyons 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the GRMS license covers your entire family, kids, spouses, brothers and sisters, parents ... And they don't have to do anything.

    • @rogue109
      @rogue109 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** HAM has no groups to join, no pressure...whatever you are talking about. I did not know about the license covering multiple family members, so that's good info that I'd need to look into. However you are still limited to 5 watts on a few channels whereas the HAM license (which is also easy to get unless you are some kinda special stupid) gives you far more capabilities.

      +rogue109 Wrong. www.nihill.net/rigmrs/need2know.htm
      Output to 50Watts, repeater accessible, and how many channels do you need to be changing to while your driving.
