Man I wish I was stationed again in San Diego with my old 4runner. Wrecked it In July and it’s been miserable. Hoping to graduate from college soon and buy my baby back again. This is so inspiring to not only build your rig up but search for a remote job
There's nothing I'd rather drive than my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn for off roading, especially beach/dune wheelin, trails and just cruising around in the warmer months. Doors and top in the garage where they belong. But if I'm going to be taking the family on a long trip, there's nothing better than a 4Runner. Both vehicles last forever, well at least the 4.0L I6 engine does, can't say the same about everything else on a Jeep. Everything else seems to just f n break! The TJ is a fun toy while the 4Runner is the real deal.
I replaced the OEM roof rack on my 2007 FJ Cruiser, with a a Bajaj Utility Rack and an Autohome Maggiolina Roof Top Tent. The hard outer shell of the tent, is almost indestructible and the aerodynamics area superb. Take down and set up oft the tent is so quick and convenient. Been all over the country camping in it and it is worth every penny. Not once has there been a leak or any other problems. You will appreciate the design and construction quality even more with time. Your video was very helpful and informative as I transition over to a 4Runner for overlanding.
I love how you mention the road conditions in San Diego. My Audi a5 got beat to shit because of the roads around here. I decided to buy a beefier car and got a 2018 4runner this weekend. Thanks for sharing your build, its amazing. I'll be working towards something similar so i appreciate the info.
really nice build, i'm working with my 2016 trail with KDSS for overland excusions, not quite to the extream you,ve gone due to a low garage roof, but she's my daily driver and overland vehcle, proberly the best vehcle i've ever owned. keep up the good work, she looks great.
Thanks Brian! The fit is great but doesn't really retract right now. Ideally I'd love to build some kind of retracting spool in there but for now I pop open the tray and kind of pull the wires back in haha.
Awesome build! I’m currently in the process of building my 2021 TRD ORP. I went with the Sherpa roof rack, there was a 9 month wait for the GOBI and I agave an EcoFlow Delta Max as my power unit. Having a wife and son the build is going a little bit slower than I’d like, but still working to get together. I like your RTT, but I’ll need more room and thinking of going with the Roof Nest. Again, awesome build!
Setup looks awesome! Slowly trying to build my Taco and my GF's 4Runner, twice the expense! LOL! I'm definitely stealing some of your awesome ideas, she's definitely in the same camp of thinking in regards to making it tough but keeping it clean and luxurious. Appreciate you doing the video!
Doood! Your ride is ridiculous!! I mean that in the most complimentary ways. I too live in San Diego and you've given me something to aspire to do for my 2017 4Runner. Kind of dangerous though because of how much money you can spend. Thanks for the great video.
Nice! I sport a very similar build without the S-pod or Super charger. For the ARB on board air I found the Mountain Off Road solution fits very nicely in the left rear of the engine bay. M.O.R.E out of Colorado
Wow. Amazing build. But also looks great. Some of these overland buiIds, I would not drive on the street. love the Land Cruiser heritage in black and love your wheel/tire choice.
Sweet Rig. Live in SD as well...own a 1st Gen 4rnr w/ 3.4L Swap and SC’d fully built and a Overland Built 2nd Gen. Thinking about adding a 5th Gen in the Garage. Hope to see you on the trails one Day.

Hate water crossings and mud in an off the grid ultimate 4runner? That’s when the real fun happens. This truck can take as much mud you throw at it. Just clean it whenever your adventure is done and it’s all good
I've had my share of mud and deep water crossings, but I don't seek it out anymore. I like when everything works correctly with minimal squeaks and other noises.
Great video. You have a very decent build. It would be great if you could do a cost video as well. Whenever thinking to do mods on my Subaru, I just feel overwhelmed with the amount of cash it might take.

First off, I love the setup! I think I have watched this video about 20 times. I have a question for you if you're willing. My wife and I are looking at getting a National Luna Fridge and the Yeti 1500. We also have a 5th gen 4Runner and we were wondering if we could run the fridge from the plug in the 4runner and charge the yeti while we're driving? I heard in the video you can charge the yeti "ridiculously fast" while driving but I wasn't sure if you had your fridge plugged in to the 4runner as well.
Cool video. Why did you choose amber lights instead of white? Do you have any ideas for snorkels for the 4th gen? Also, what do you do professionally that brings you off grid? I fly a desk, that’s why I’m curious.
Amber helps in dusty conditions and I had heard excellent things about the Squadrons in amber for the fogs. No regrets. I run my own consulting venture so it just requires phone and internet.
I need to get some flat out footage for sure. Of course it's tough to offer a true comparison of supercharged vs not when there's so much added weight.
Pretty mellow build. What do you do when the weather is bad I was hoping you had some sort of setup in your car. I guess you don't worry about that as you're down in so cal. Your kitchen setup seems super small. I don't know exactly what you could cook with that. You should get that stuff bolted down in the back. If you get in a crash you're gunna be wishing you did. I don't want to see a fridge flying at the back of my head.
Minimally viable where I wanted to be. I have the skottle out of frame but between that and the MSR you can cook anything. I mention in the video the plans for the back they just went in last week.
Sweet build, where you go for the film protection install? i am in SD as well, I wish someone should of told me about the cons of a black beauty, so hard to keep it clean and scratch free 😣
Hey bud, nice job with the build and the video. I’m working on similar right now and love the goal zero vs a dual battery install. Is the product you chose for running charging the “yeti link car charging kit”? It seems to be temporarily discontinued unfortunately?
First great looking truck. QQ on your headlights. They use the INJ 10A fuse location (per installation guide), however that is also the location for the S/C coolant pump (I have one as well). What fuse location did you have to leverage for the DRLs?
I was wondering if the supercharger changed your fuel mileage one way or the other? Did you off-road it much before adding it? Did it change much both on and off road?
I mention it in the video at the beginning of that segment. You answer questions that Magnuson has on a form, they send you the modified tune files. You upload it to the tool included in the kit via OBDII port
Thanks for posting your build. 1) Did you use the SPOD Touch Screen mount that comes with the SPOD to mount it to your center console? Did you screw the mount into the bottom of that useless little compartment or the top? Are you still happy with this mounting location? 2) How are the AlphaRex Nova LED headlights holding up? Why did you go with the Nova over the LUXX? Looks or performance considerations? Thanks again.
Used the screen mount that came with it with a custom L bracket. What I did was take off the whole piece, then drilled down through the top of that compartment then affixed it from there. Still happy with it but larger cups in that holder will turn the screen on but no issues. NOVAs just were the premium choice and I loved the pattern and look of them. I'm sure the LUXX are great too but no qualms about going NOVA they are bad. ass.
We are getting ready to install the Toytec Aluma 2.5 on our 4Runner as well I'm glad to see an honest opinion on them. We are going with the SPC UCA's. So I'm curious about the tire size? They look larger than 33's sweet build though
Awesome set up. Subscribed. Would you buy that Coleman table again? I think you have the Lepow monitor, I have 2 of those - been great. Not sure I could get them both on that Coleman though. I have a 4Runner arriving from east coast to SoCal in 1-2 weeks, stoked. You blew my mind on the idea of going out and finding spots to work.
For the price I'd definitely get it again, but someone mentioned a similar setup table that's more of a rectangle and adjustable height I may get down the road. For now I'm pretty happy. No experience with the Jackery but I've used Goal Zero products for quite a few years now and love them.

the 4runner is already thirsty as it is. Just imagine what's the fuel economy like with a supercharger and all those gear in it. 1mpg?
