I got some Grandma’s Chili Powder and made the recipe on the back. When I got done it tasted just like Wendy’s Chili. I made it with 3 kinds of beans.

I have been making chili for over 50 years and usually don't try other recipes. Yours looks worth trying though, love the ingredients!
When I make chili for groups, I make two batches, one is close to your recipe (Not quite, but close), the other I add Jalapenos and Habaneros..
Thank you for sharing this video..... Two thumbs up
PS: if you live close to a Mexican market, buy their Chili Powder, it's so much better than any American brand.... It's the only way I will buy it anymore..

I didn’t have my normal Chili pack I get to season from my local grocery that I love but you helped! I did not have the chocolate power but added a little Worcestershire sauce and also cooked it on medium low in on the stove for over an hour. It’s pretty good! This got me out of a tight spot and chili night was still a success! Thanks from North Carolina!

    Very, very good!!!.
We use essentially the same receipe. Tweak a few things slightly different but very good ! And thank you for the "no wall paste no stucco approach" to your chili.
Chili actually originated as a poor man's food. Slightly watery, beans, all the basic ingredients you use and slow simmered once the wet and dry is mixed and not looking like spaghetti sauce.
    Thank you...excellent.

I like the idea of adding the coco, but if you add the spice blend into the meat the fat activates the chili powder and cumin better. I love the ingredient blend. This will come out the same every time. Outstanding!

So, just because I love it I have to make it myself.

Cheryl --- This is almost exactly how I make my home made chili. I learned it from my Grandmother who was an amazing cook. Something I do you should really try. Cook your hamburger in a little bacon grease. Drain off grease just before adding onions just as you did, add onions and 10 shakes of your favorite hot sauce. I use Texas Pete, for me it gives the best flavor. Finish cooking burger and onions, add to crock pot.
That bacon grease and hot sauce really bring some amazing flavor to the beef. You'll taste the difference, I guarantee..

Nothing's new in this world, here I am 4000 miles away and I've just made nearly the same recipe including the tedious job of chopping the mince beef in the pan then draining the fat and also used cocoa powder. A little tip, take the plastic container that the mince came in and put some cold water in, when you spoon the fat from the mince in it sets and you can pour the water down the drain and put the solid fat in the bin. Good video, thanks.

Just a tip for you. You can use a potato masher ( wire type ) to break up the ground beef. Doesn't harm the pan believe me. Been doing that for years. Messing around with a big old wooden spoon ain't going to do much.

Darn it, it's August and I live in Phoenix AZ where it's 110 degrees every day, but now thanks to you I have to make chili, otherwise I'm going to be craving it for a month. Looks so delicious! I always use those same beans when I make chili. I like them so much better than using kidney beans. I also love that you leave big chunks of beef. I do the same. Funny, but when I eat chili, the spoon never touches my lips. I always take a saltine cracker, put a spoonful of chili on it, a pinch of shredded cheddar, and then stuff the whole thing in my mouth. I always eat the entire bowl of chili like that; one chili cheese cracker Hors d'oeuvre bite at a time.

    • @CherylKCherylsHomeCookingshow

    • @jdiggitty
      @jdiggitty 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@pumpkinheadghoul Ryan, Chili freezes very well. If you skip the slow cooker and use a big stockpot to simmer a bunch, you can have chili whenever you want. Everyone has their own tricks, but I use a mix of ground beef and pork, add diced red peppers to the onions, a bottle of dark beer, and black beans. (I never liked pinto beans either) Roasted poblano peppers would be good. You live in an area where you could get high quality chili powder as well!

Looks great Cheryl, but I’d go with double your spice mix. Also you’d find it easier to break up the ground beef by hand as you’re adding it to the pan, rather than stabbing at a solid mass the whole time. Another way to add extra flavour (seeing as you’re cooking in a crockpot), brown the beef and onion seperate to get real colour. Especially helpful when using a tiny pan! Also try toasting your spices gently in your pan before you add to the crockpot 😋

Made this for my department 2018 Xmas party and it was a hit. One of my guys took home the leftovers about a bowl worth to share with his fiancé. The only thing I added was 8oz of mushrooms. Kept to the recipe and it was awesome. I was sweating bullets thinking my guys wouldn’t like because all the praise they were giving about their mom chili recipe. Now it’s a throw down with moms. Nice job lady.

Looks good but I not like hot chilli soup with much chilli power in it.
So I have never had the tomatoes with green chillies in it and I really not but chillies at all.
My husband and I loved home made chilli soup but never hot and to spicy, more milder.
But I have friends that get the hotest stuff they can like home made hot salsa.
It's so hot it burn my mouth for a long time.
As a kid my neighbor played a trick on me told me I could not eat a whole chili pepper.
Then she said eat tomatoes to stop it.
Oh was my mouth on fire.
So I hated hot stuff from them on.
Mom made our chilli mild but they put the hot sauce on the table in theirs laughs.
But I know people that can't do to hot but it's to each their own taste yeah.
But thank you for sharing your chilli and God bless you all.
