    I decided today 3/24/16 That I will be a Board Certified Art Therapist. My goal is to help others and my target will be Handicapped and Mentally Handicapped Individual. I cant wait. I start college in May. I'm 31 but hey better late than never. Now I have a dream bigger than me. I cant wait to work with clients that cannot speak. I want to know their thought and I will provide them that outlet! Hey world.. Here I come!

    Thank you for this video! I am 12 years old and live in the United Kingdom. I am doing a career day at school tomorrow and I love to do art as well as helping people. With this, I looked for a career combining these aspects and came across art therapy.
    I am now hopeful to get a job at a prison, hospital etc to assess mental or emotional disorders with art, as an art therapist! Again, thank you so much!!!!!

      How did it go?

    • @Czadzikable

      Your comment is from 6 years ago, so you should be about 18 now - are you still planning to work towards becoming an art therapist, or are you taking a different path?

    • @Czadzikable
      @Czadzikable 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@irenedavo3768 I am also curious as to whether they are still wanting to become an art therapist or not. Obviously, considering that if they were 12 six years ago, they would be turning 18 this year, they wouldn't be an art therapist yet and would still have a long way ahead of the to becoming one... In the UK, to become an Art Therapist, first at 18 you would go to university for a 3-4 year undergraduate course (BA) - most commonly (for an Art Therapist) in Art - apart from art, common ones for Art Therapists to have done may be Psychology, Nursing, Teaching, Social Work... though could be anything else. Then, they would need to get a few years experience working "in the real world", with at least one full year's worth of experience of working with vulnerable people. And then they can apply for a 2-3 year Art Therapy MA course at one of the 10 or so Universities in the UK that offer it.
      ...so yeah, if they are still pursuing it, they have a long way ahead of them - I hope it goes well.

    Thank you for this video it has inspired me, I am South Sudanese by nationality living in South Sudan where there is very many venerable street children who need the art therapy program to change they life style. I have the greatest love for people who were down in their luck, but now are coping and learning about life, and loving it. Art can do that, education can too. I was down in my luck for many years and turned to Christianity, and remember my friends less fortunate than me who died young and old. I love Art and it is a legacy in our family, you have inspired me with Art again. I just wanted to share this with you all.

    I love this! I'm in DBT but I'm trying to surround myself with healthy alternatives in addition to art/music. These are the two things I love the most. I also now have a spiritual life coach free through my church. I'm balanced at work with work goals. :)

      Hi JensChoice. My daughter has just got funding from our Local Independent Council and Church to teach art. Art is therapy. No qualifications necessary. However, the Church can pay for training. I am going to do the training, as my daughter just wants to concentrate on the art.
      Our Church does not push religion. They care more about helping our community, children and families as a whole. We are very lucky.

    Hello, I am going to graduate soon with a bachelor degree of applied psychology and I am planning to sign up for another bachelor specializing in art therapy. They are asking me to show three pieces made out of paint, oils or pastels and 3D and show just how much I want this bachelor and explain to them the process of me making the piece. Now, I have always been an artist at heart and I`ve always sat down, cleared my mind and just painted and always got interesting finished products but there are a few things that I need help with.
    1. How do I explain my process if my process is just sitting down with a blank canvas and a blank mind and letting myself run with it and
    2. How do I show my interest in being an art therapist to actual licensed art therapists if I don`t know what they are looking for?
    I really don`t know what to do or what/how to show to them but I just really want to get into the school. Do you have any advise for me? I would love to hear from you.

    So many kids don't get real opportunity to both create something and then be validated for their expression. I think the "therapy" is in this exchange, where they get an opportunity to relate to their own thoughts and feelings and be validated for the manifestation of what was actually inside of them. Therapy is nothing more than love for another person packaged in a way to foster healing and well being. I am not an art therapist. I am an artist, with a real heart for wounded people who need restoration and new hope.
    Jesus is my hope and my only confidence in this world where pain and suffering are expected and good and evil are being turned upside down.
