Always, always lifts my mood when a new video lands. A lifetime of experience right here, shared for free - so much skill and knowledge. Everything explained so well and Lou’s natural delivery is a joy - thank you for inviting us into your workshop. The very best TH-cam content, right here, fact…..
Thank you Lou for another episode. Amazing seeing that piece of oak straighten out when cut free of the main board. The covering board has a lot of sweep to it and it is not often you get a perfect piece with the curve so close to what you need. Take care and have a productive week.
As many other have said, I always love seeing "Tips" and/or "Bristol" has uploaded another video. There is just something about the way Lou presents his videos and knowledge that works for me. And of course his work speaks for itself. Thanks for another video, Lou. I appreciate it.
The amount of thought Lou puts into the use of his tools is so inspiring. You could learn a million ways to improve what you thought you already knew by hanging out with Lou.
You are the salt of the earth old mate, we appreciate you a lot over here in Western Australia, you remind me of a Canadian master boat builder I knew in South Africa, what a pleasure it is to watch you work, my kids love it
I am 67 now and if I could do it all again how I would have relished to serve a shipwright apprenticeship with you Louis. You are such a practical genius.
The thing about this boat......is that it is so beautiful and perfect and well built, that putting it in the water seems sacrilegious I know that is its purpose, but God, I just want to stare at it
Lou, these videos are so informative. I feel that I have met you in the past. I worked for small boatyards around the bay when I was younger. I come from Tiverton, RI and am 74 years old. Can't wait for the next video. ps. I do use your saw guide technic quite often, great tip!
I agree with you Louis much easier to keep a strait line with the blade deep in the material! I've used tall home made fence out of a thick piece of wood rounded down to a point that works well also. Love watching your knowledge of the whole process is so informative!
Thanks again Lou, and yet another bind your practical advice gets me out of. I recently bought a new 14" band saw with a 13" resaw capacity, and sure enough, was trying to resaw some 8/4 red oak and with the standard high fence she was fighting me most of the way. As usual, you are able to teach an old dog new tricks.
This is quite a superb site and the skill shown are inspiring. I have one question that is not relevant but which I have noticed on watching many American sites - why do Americans use adjectives as adverbs?
Lou, you're on to something: In 1925 the company Festool was founded by company partners Albert Fezer and Gottlieb Stoll. They initially concentrate on repairing wood processing machinery and making structural modifications to these machines by converting plain bearings to ball bearings.
l just bought some white epoxy (not paint your rolling on) primer/total boat in R.I. from paul. Will u paint epoxy paint over this white roll on primer Lou???
We usually have 2-3 projects ongoing, the primary project and what we call "The Moaning Chair Project" that is in the Concept/Design phase. We know that Louis is gathering his thoughts and materials while the V Bottom Skiff heads to the finish line.
Any chance you’re driving anywhere near East Tennessee in the next year or so, I’ll cut you a bunch of those white oak knees that you are welcome to for free, I just cut them up for firewood. Plenty of huge white oak on my land, can’t do patrion donations but you are more than welcome to the wood.
First of all I think I you're an exceptional craftsman but to say that you've pretty much invented point fence is just absurd. I'm a furniture maker and have had a Jet 14 in and now a Rikon 14 in bandsaw. Both came with fences that had a point fence attachment stock. Yours is really far from a new method.

Oh, yay! My week's made! Always such a pleasure to see you work and listen to you, Lou.

That skewed fence is genius! I will try it the next time such a cut is required.
I am 67 now and if I could do it all again how I would have relished to serve a shipwright apprenticeship with you Louis. You are such a practical genius.
Great work from a true craftsman!
Who else likes seeing all the old heavy duty Powermatic machinery in the background? No to mention the Boice Crane and Parks planers too.
One step closer!! Thanks for always sharing your tips and tricks! Fantastic work, Lou!
Missed you Louie
Lou, there are a bunch of us out here that really appreciate these videos. You are such an amazing shipwright. ✌️👍🇺🇸
Have you considered a feature-length video?! I could watch this content all day, every day. Thank you, Louis.
Fantastic Lou! Love the look!
The thing about this boat......is that it is so beautiful and perfect and well built, that putting it in the water seems sacrilegious

What a great boat, built with such experience and care.

I love these videos.
Always a pleasure to see your videos.
You are brilliant Lou. That table “stub”fence is incredible.
Nice work Lou! I love the fence idea. I tried to resaw some mahogany a couple weeks ago and my thicknesses were all wonky
Great looking build Louie

Great video thanks
I am always learning new tricks when I watch these inspiring videos.
Beautiful

Great video Lou! Those knees are going to look beautiful!! Stay safe.
Grizzly makes a bandsaw resaw fence with a drift bar. I think there are other versions available too.
appreciate your sharing so much.
This is quite a superb site and the skill shown are inspiring.

Keep an eye on the cable into the saw as it looks loose
So close now
Niouce 👍

Lou needs to put out a rap album performing as Medullary Ray.
Kerth?
KERF
@@ajabusamra3901 I know what he meant. I was asking if that's what he said.
l just bought some white epoxy (not paint your rolling on) primer/total boat in R.I. from paul.
Will u paint epoxy paint over this white roll on primer Lou???
Lou said he plans to use TotalBoat Wet Edge, it is a one part polyurethane topside coating.
Is this boat for sale?
10 months still waiting on orca updates, why start a project just to not bother returning to it????

хорошо
there are boat builders and there are boat builders and then Lou comes along, no more to say really.
Where’s the jaws boat?

Anyone else cut from lodging knees to primer?
Curious.
Man I want him to build me a guitar! Bet he could.
Why does he sound like a stonner here 2:14 lol
What happens to this boatr? Does some rich person buy it?
BINGO!

Sure wish it was going to my house.
