Our lithium iron phosphate batteries by SOK Batteries for this DIY wooden sailboat need a safe, strong home in the stern section of the boat alongside the marine refrigerator compressor and Victron DC power inverter. This week, Adin builds those, and we also see a lot of sanding, sanding sanding, cleaning, sanding and some sanding. But we don't subject you to as much of it as got done!
We're always looking for volunteers, and these days we're hoping to get a large crew together to make our boat launch celebration on June 17 and 18 a huge success. Sign up for our newsletter (link below) or sign up specifically to be on launch crew here: forms.gle/pkc44so2oB84knNP9

Acorn to Arabella is a wooden boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur wooden boat builder building a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond-sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that classic wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY boatbuilding project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva.

It is just so rejuvenating, in these days where people seem completely self absorbed, to see really nice folks take the initiative, effort and time just to help you out. That was a big load of valuable timber driven a considerable distance. Hats off to them and others who continue to take such a kind and generous path in life.

Good morning all you Acorn to Arabella fans and crew! I can not tell you just how exciting it was to actually be in the boathouse last week. We drove over seven hours with a four year old! It was worth every painful mile to see Steve pop his head out of the boat to say hello. It was amazing to smell the wood and touch parts of the boat. I hope you have your bung hole pegs made. That's a ton of holes to fill. Aaron will be a busy boy for sure. I wish Steve had had a moment to talk but I understand his need to keep cracking on with the build. Akiva even did a great job of welcoming us/ warning you that there were groupies on the lot. I'm still floating on air. What a fantastic trip even if it was only for the weekend.

I've always wondered whether it would be possible to steam and stretch a board, if only a little bit. You can steam bend, and any bend requires the outside to get longer, so I think it should be possible.
Another classic is the "aluminum magnet", which is theoretically possible considering that aluminum is paramagnetic, meaning that it is in fact weakly attracted to sufficiently strong magnets.

To Cindy, thanks for your volunteering on site and for your charity work over the years. Both of my parents are fighting their own cancer battles right now. They divorced when I was 18 (I'm 52 now) and as you know, these battles put a financial hardship on the individuals and their families, regardless of insurance. Charities that support those individuals and research do so much to help, so a super big hug and thanks to you for your part in helping.
