I enjoyed your sharing the Knitting for Tommy book and the mention of Hamilton, Ontario citizens knitting for the war effort in the Great War. Hamilton is my hometown and my Dad was a schoolboy at that time. He told of he and his classmates knitting socks for the soldiers in school.
Oh, that color combo is fantastic! In Venezuela, Spain and other Latin countries, February 2nd is the feast of Our Lady of Candelaria (I guess that's the connection to Candlemass). The tradition is that you have a sweet bread to share on The Epiphany day and one lucky person will get the token hidden inside the bread. This person then has to host a party on The Candelaria's day!

Love your Malabrigo yarn. Gorgeous colors. I think you gave a great explanation of Ephiphany. I agree with you on using the old calendar. I don't like to shift our holy days to accommodate the modern world. For that matter, I don't like that here in the US, we've moved a lot of holidays to the nearest Monday so that most working people get a 3 day weekend. I guess I'm a bit of a crank in that regard. :-)
