Another great video!!🤩 I was able to follow along seamlessly!! I did notice that I don't have the "SIOX" check box in my version of Inkscape. I'm using version 1.2 is it under another name? Did they remove it? my trace bitmap side panel looks a bit different! Hope you see this and can help me. I really want to try that feature!
Thanks! I actually have a more recent tutorial all about Trace Bitmap here: th-cam.com/video/Z39-QaDRHoI/w-d-xo.html During the first half, I go into a lot of detail about how to use Trace Bitmap, like in this video. The SIOX feature is now called "User-assisted trace," but it still works the same way.
Very good but what do you do about removing the background with trace bitmap when your main image has white? I've had a devil of a time trying to do a cartoon panda. It removed the white parts of the panda. Is there a way to change the color it sees as background? Heidi
Unfortunately it seems that it does always choose the whitest part as the "background" to remove. Have you tried using the SIOX (called "user-assisted trace" in 1.2) option shown at the end of the video? Instead of checking "Remove background," you can enter the group and delete the extra white path that it creates as the background.
@@SweaterCatDesigns No I have not downloaded 1.2 yet. Still a newbie learning how to even use it. I only downloaded it for the first time about 3-4 months ago and don't have loads of free time to devote to learning it so... *grin* Thanks so much for the tip. I put it in my reasons to download the new version side of the list. :D - Heidi
@@BlackCat_2 Actually you can also do it in 1.1, which is what I was using when I made this video. I was just mentioning that in case you were using 1.2, they changed the name from "SIOX" to "User-assisted trace." It works the exact same way though.
Thank you. Best explanation I have found.🙏
Thank you! Very useful!

@@SweaterCatDesigns Cool!! I will try that out soon as I am up working early before the temperature gets over 100F today. :)
What about an image that is highly detailed ? vectorize it without losing the quality of colors.
