  • Thank you for tuning in. Today I am working on a briggs and stratton lawnmower but the information is applicable to any small engine. Most of the time when a small engine stops working it is the carburetor. Gasoline/petrol turn to gel as it ages. This gel then cloggs the small ports and veins in the carburetor preventing it from providing the correct fuel/air mixture the engine needs to run. Watch as I elaborate on the process of diagnosing and repairing a dirty carburetor.
If you would like to order a new carburetor, you need to find the model number of your engine and Google it plus carburetor and nine times out of ten it is available for cheap. If it is not an option, you can clean the carb after carefully removing all the seals, floats and needle. if you plan on reusing the seals, you can very gently separate the seal from the carburetor with a razor blade. when you reassemble the carburetor, you can put a little bearing grease on the seals so they seal properly.
It is usually better to get a replacement carburetor or a rebuild kit but if that is not an option you can do the "dirty rebuild" I explain in the video.
Thank you for watching and don't forget to SHUTUPANDDOITYOURSELF!
