The 2023 US Open main draw runs from August 28 - September 10 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek claimed the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another historic tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. Coco is so poised, calm and collected dealing with controversy. She is a teenager but showing more maturity in her answers than some ATP pros. I really hope she wins several slams in her career. She is doing it the right way.

The refs response to her opponent sitting is really egregious. Coco is exacyly right, if you can't manage a long game that's on your fitness. The ref was giving her an unfair advantage allowing that. That alone would have had me heated.

The umpire was awful, totally inconsistent. This is the first time I’ve watched Laura play and I was disgusted with her antics which were tolerated by the umpire. Congratulations Coco!

I don’t think the umpire was “terrible”… that’s an exaggeration. That said, I think in trying to cater to Laura’s slow pace, the timing issue became more and more unfair to Coco especially when it came time for Coco to serve and Laura literally had her back to her.

I think they mean so many her age are quite far from this level and even in the tennis world there def are many who can’t handle themselves this well. Many being men. It’s a tall feat to keep calm under this kind of pressure in front of that many people. Coco almost makes it look easy but it certainly is not.

No real tennis fans agrees with that and Coco herself tried to mitigate that. Get real. And that is not unique to this match. It’s common anytime there is a heel playing in a match against a crowd favorite.

Laura chose to act like an entitled Karen and paid the price. Probably she thought that she was playing against the old version of Coco; but she got a rude awakening. This is COCO GAUFF 2.0. She is going to show that those two title wins at Washington and Cincinnati were no flukes. This thrashing of Laura is just the calm before the storm. Trust me Iga's title defense maybe in jeopardy.

I did see Coco motion for the crowd to not cheer between her serves. Reminder, not everyone in a tennis crowd is aware of tennis decorum. Some just know their opponent just missed a shot and are happy for their favorite player.

Some ppl are given tickets by their company friends relative &don't know tennis etiquette diff than baseball, b- ball or soccer. They're just excited- doesn't make them purposely trying to be mean-. I still think the audience on Ashe gets too much in lynch mode, and is not the most knowledgeable crowd. But that's New York. I understand Coco's POV but also think Laura as a 35 year old deserved more respect, yes she was slow but she played a great game.
