He seems like a lovely chap. It was so frustrating listening to his story on A Very British Scandal podcast to see how the establishment was against him the whole way through. I am glad he got to tell the truth finally.
Who was it who "gave" him this place he's lived in for 35 years? And why? Even if it was ruined, where did he get the money to make it habitable? It wasn't as if he was capable of earning a good salary even at the best of times.

Furthermore, Thorpe married as an expedient because rumours were circling that he was homosexual (in the language of the time) and he had to present himself as 'normal', particularly as there was a strong suggestion that he would be the next Leader of the Liberal Party. And who, really, were these people 'higher up' who would go to the lengths of bumping off Scott? That's merely conspiracy theorising. Indeed, Thorpe's downfall would have been met with glee by the other political parties.
