Hugh is a nice guy. He seems at ease here bantering with the host. Nice to see that instead of tense and ugly questions. This was relaxed and refreshing.
I rate Hugh's performance in English Scandal as one of his very best alongside Music and Lyrics and Cloud Atlas in which he was truly superb. He lives next door to a mate of mine and when I go to my mate's place I was always hoping to bump into Hugh to have a little chat. It hasn't happened so far.
Mr Grant could change that!! There's a vacancy as leader of Conservative Party, aka PM of the UK, in 2019, would be a pleasant change of scenery for the Brits....
Well said, Yvonne. I'm the mug of milk that was already off BEFORE it was put in the Sun, and has now become an alien. Mr. Grant, however, is most definitely a fine vintage, from a gene pool that just gets more dashing and handsome with time. One small note, however...what is the dealeeo with his shirt? It looks like he spilled something on his own shirt and had to borrow one from a staffer. Is it just me, or does that shirt not look like it doesn't fit properly? . Very un-Hugh like. Still...very easy on the eyes.
4:46, he calls politicians "freaks, weirdos, show business for the ugly" and this Guinness I'm sipping almost comes out my nose. Sir Hugh out here making grown men spill malt beverages with his deadpan humor again.
But that is a quip that has been around for DECADES. Politics is show biz for the ugly. That's like being given credit for the alphabet. AND he really needs a shirt a size OR TWO bigger
president camacho this is hilarious . Sport played with feet should be called handball , one played by hands "Football" . Lost in translation Volleyball .
I hate this argument with every fiber of my being. It's old and tired and just plain idiotic. The US (and not even just the US) has a different word for a sport....a sport. A sport that will be played the exact same way no matter what you call it and whose difference in name has absolutely no bearing on anyone's life. Why can't people seem to live with that?? We also have different spelling and words for what we call flashlights, parking lots, elevators, etc. Being a cliche, obnoxious snob who screams "it's football, not soccer!" just shows a complete lack of cultural awareness.
The person Thorpe was supposedly involved with was called Scott. I remember the quiz of the day was "What has Thorpe and Captain Kirk got in common?" Answer: "They've both beamed up Scotty".

No he's not, go and re-watch his earlier films to remind yourself of how very handsome he was, now he looks like he is, a middle-aged man. Elizabeth Hurley on the other hand has definitely improved with age.
There was a comment 2 days ago on Colbert show that he/she wanted Hugh to visit Seth because they resembled each other. Hope you are happy now that your wish is granted. Lol

It seems Mr Grant is so much more comfortable in his own skin these days and it's very sexy to hear him speaking about important issues. Perhaps he will be actual PM one day, not just pretend to be one in a movie :-)
Watch him in Maurice. Its his first ever lead role. Beautiful film and brilliantly acted by Grant and James Wilby. You watch it once and it will never leave you.
I thought A Very English Scandal was the best UK produced drama I had seen this year until I saw The Bodyguard with Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes. Excellent performances from Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw though. It will be an interesting battle come awards time.
@@ivanabratos2893 Ok, just thought about your comment about old telephones and got it. I'm over 60 and no longer imagine a landline when someone says "telephone." 📞
Great interview & Seth is so cute thinking he resembles Hugh ... lol Unfortunately Hugh's description of politics & politicians is where we are now in 2020 !!
Both of them -- those side-by-side pics were drool-worthy. And Grant has been crush-worthy ever since I saw him in "Maurice." Too bad his character in that movie didn't get to go all the way with the James Willoughby character.
It is a shame that English team was very close to making it this year. I supported them although I am not English. I honestly didn't expect them to win over France but making it to the finale would have been great enough.
Politicians.... "... not paid very much...". Hhm, well UK Members of Parliament start on around £85,000 + expenses. Add on a significant chunk to that if you're a Minister. Have to say..... £85,000 a year sounds quite good to me.
A few years ago there was a tragic case of two little girls that went missing in the UK in the Liverpool area. After a huge investigation and police searching every inch of the ground and water in the area the worst fears were beginning to be the most likely outcome, until there was a glimpse of hope when there was some activity on the phone of one of the girls, the families were desperately holding on to the possibility that they were still alive.... In the end a man was arrested and the bodies of the girls recovered it was heartbreaking. During the investigation the police discovered that the girls were already dead when the phone was activated, the evidence lead them to a private investigator who had hacked the phone on behalf of a scandal Sunday paper " the news of the world" owned by the Australian Murdoch group. The same family that owns sky sports and several news agencies and TV and radio stations around the world. The high court forced the paper to close and caused a lot of tension and demands for tougher laws and penalties for breaching journalistic ethics.... lots of celebrities and even the royal family were victims of telephone hacking
I think Hugh meant two telephone booths. Booths in England are/or were, red. There are referred to as red phone boxes. I think he said it , because Seth was wearing a red jacket. I just don't know why Hugh would say it about himself, since he was wearing a tux.

Younger Hugh I didn't really care for... well except in Maurice and Bridget Jones's, But I much like this Hugh 😍 Hugh is brilliant in A Very English Scandal. Him and Ben Wishaw were both brilliant. Brilliant interview by Seth and he and his team did their research well.
1:134 England could have taken full advantage of Germany's early exit, plus the Netherlands' and Italy's total absence and Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Argentina being knocked out to go on and win the trophy. Instead, they gave an absolutely pathetic performance losing the semi-final to Croatia (Croatia!). Then they even lost the 3rd place play-off.
