It's pretty easy once you get an idea of how to do it. Basically, you have to move your jaw on the mouthpiece in order to change pitch of sound and slide your fingers slowly off the keys all at the same time as you are glissing upwards. btw, I play clarinet, but I can only gliss upwards though since trying to do it downwards can be difficult.
@@SuperWorldRailFanProductions lmao yeah if you can control on your embouchure, you can get an upward gliss down _easily_ I was able to do this cleanly in 9th grade and saw some other high schoolers (who weren't in other youth orchestras or had extensive private lessons) do this alright too. downward gliss tho yeah they are harder to get clean
Some incredible glissandos going on there!! I've been playing clarinet for around 28 years now and just can't get glissandos sounding smooth at all. So difficult.
This makes me sad that my school won't let clarinets into their jazz band, despite clarinet being a jazz instrument. It's still an amazing arrangement though. Maybe if I can get sheet music of this for my section to play I can convince them to let us in.
Clarinets aren't really jazz instruments anymore the don't add to the balance of any band. And they don't project well . You'll only see it for specific parts in jazz. Also this isn't a jazz piece
Sandra A Leon You are correct. This is not a jazz piece. However there are clearly jazz elements within it. Also, clarinets were originally a big part in jazz, just because you weren't there to see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. I mean is anything you said actually factual? What makes you think clarinets can't project? Do you see any microphones?! And to say that we don't add to the balance of any band is just stupid. We are only one of three mid-ranged pitched woodwind instruments in a classical band, and we make up for what we lack in VOLUME in that we add color and tone to the band. God! I hate people who just spew nonsense from there mouths without thought or any actual factual information.
@@sandraaleon2313 Damn that is so damn stupid thing to say. Clariney is a jazz instrument, if there is such a thing. I think that jazz is so wide consept, that you really can't say something isn't a jazz instrument. But if there is instruments that are jazz instruments, then clarinet is a jazz instrument. God damn it, the king of swing is a clarinetist.
Hi, my name is Sauro, i would like to make compliments to you all!! wonderful execution!!!! I play in an italian clarinet's quintet, and we would be pleased to play your composition. May you please send us the score and the editions?
+Alisha Guiden The song is. You think Gershwin made this for clarinet choir first? No he's asking for the arrangement of the rhapsody in blue for clarinet choir. Also, even if they were asking for an original, asking for a copy doesn't mean ur asking for "their copy that they made themselves" just the copy they had.
For some people there asking what reeds or clarinets they are using. In my perspective 2 Bb Clarinets, 1 A Clarinet or Eb Clarinet (I can't really see due there's something infront of the instrument, 1 Bass Clarinet and 1 Contrabass Clarinet. Thats what I see in my perspective.
Well I've got a video of Annie's Song on my flute, and I've self-taught clarinet, but to hell can I glissando! It's really difficult yet you made it perfect. the whole song is perfect in fact
I play clarinet and I'm a sophomore and this is amazing!! We played this in my class once and it was like this but it was a whole band. One thing that bothered me is their posture, if they sat straight and held their clarinets at a 45 degree angle they could play 10x as good as they are here
Said this to someone else. When you've developed muscles (embouchure and diaphragm) you can sit however you want and have the same tone. Obviously sitting up right helps but doesn't make a big difference. And you're supposed to move when you play, like with emotion. If you dont ur not feeling music and should quit. But anyway it doesn't make a difference that much. As shown by this video. Their sonority, precision, articulation, and tone was practically flawless. Idk what they could even do to make this 10x more flawless.
Hi, I'm a junior at Edina High School in Minnesota and I and some of my co-clarinetists really love this arrangement you guys did! We are wondering if you can tell us where you found this arrangement? And if you made it yourself, if we can somehow get a copy? We would love to perform it for our annual Pops Concert if possible. Thanks and looking forward to a response!
how do you make a glissando? i keep trying but it keeps failing. these guys art amazing btw. gershwin is my favorite but i also like benny goodman and woody allen
the guy in the very beginning it lookes like he is BARELY changing notes... but the note goes really high... what the junk? how does that work? as a clarinetist I MUST KNOW 0_0
I agree with you im practically crying inside I've been playing clarinet for 4 years now and this is really hard to watch i must say though they do sound nice
I have played the clarinet since 1957 and am humbled listening to these wonderful musicians.
@Larry I respect you for saying that.
I am so jealous of that glissando.
right?!!
me too

HOWWWWWWWWWWWW
Rhapsody in blue jeans.
zebra3stripes LOL that was funny
One of the best jokes I've heard all day.
Cool cologne
This is one of my favorite pieces ever!
Outstanding performance. I give you guys a superior rating.
WHY IS THIS TALENT NOT POURING OUT OF THE SCREEN AND ONTO ME THAT RIGHT THERE IS REAL TALENT
Glad I stayed until the very end. It is sublime.
That gliss is way too perfect to be real
Asians..
Bazanzibab
Damn workers that's all.
totally agreed
nick kissel worked on that gliss for so long, still isnt half as good as that
Kaitlyn Fedele I'm working on flight of the bumblebee, the chromatic gliss at the start is quite fun too.
Perfect, simply perfect and very pleasing to my humble Jewish ears.
Interesting way to describe your ears, but hey! Music is for everyone!
wow. i love how no one stood out in the group. very well blended. i loved it.
I was crying to this. Amazing job to you all (shout out to the alto clarinet player) us alto clarinets got to stick together man 😿💕😻🎶👌🏻
+Courtney Leonard what about us bass clarinetists as well? :D
well mean those are common unlike the alto
***** well mean those are common unlike the alto
Still... us clarinetists, must stick together, common or uncommon.
YES I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ALTO CLARINET PLAYER IN THE WORLD BUT YOU EXIST OMG I LOVE YOU
Such precision! Great arrangement.
It hits me right where it should, I love it. I just get chills, reminds me of a lot of things
Some incredible glissandos going on there!! I've been playing clarinet for around 28 years now and just can't get glissandos sounding smooth at all. So difficult.
so true
WillieWagglestick It's definitely something that takes a while to master.
I want to clone myself 4 times and be able to play this so badly that words cannot even express.
just no...
***** done
Guys! Let's do it. :D
Wait... if there's a big group of people needing clones then surely there'll be no need to clone, yes?
sam jones you broke science
Breath taking, actually made my eyes fill up!
Bravo! This was just wonderful. Thank you for your performance. It lifted me up and I loved every moment!
1:38 is just one of those things that makes me smile. :)
The bass clarinet?
+Joshua Hirtle Just that segment, always reminds me of the Fantasia subway cartoon.
From the first G, that CRAZY gliss, to the end...pure AMAZEMENT
This is a nice a sonority for clarinets. Also my friends high school did a marching shim that was called Music of Gershwin.
This makes me sad that my school won't let clarinets into their jazz band, despite clarinet being a jazz instrument. It's still an amazing arrangement though. Maybe if I can get sheet music of this for my section to play I can convince them to let us in.

I wanna learn this
Learn it by ear.
dont be a perfect pitch douchebag, troy.
You don't have to have perfect pitch to learn something by ear.
As A B flat and Bass clarinet player, I LOVE THIS!
Played this at Okaloosa Solo and Ensemble my senior year with my fellow clarinet players. Love the bass part.
Sheet music is where?!?!?!
Wow. Very beautiful
Man this is amazing I've been playing clairnet for 5 years and I wanna learn this

Simply outstanding!
These guys are breath taking
That glissando
They played so beautifully..................... oh my god.

Great fun! Thanks for sharing:)
Dear audience :
STOP COUGHING!
노래가 참 좋아요.
I wish I could play this good wow. How long did it take to learn the whole thing? I want to play for solo and ensemble!!!
Gorgeous!!!!!
Hi, my name is Sauro, i would like to make compliments to you all!! wonderful execution!!!! I play in an italian clarinet's quintet, and we would be pleased to play your composition. May you please send us the score and the editions?
They didn't come up with this, this arrangement is over 60 years old
+Alisha Guiden

you guys are amazing!!
phenomenal~
Outstanding performance! :D
I love this and I just joined a clarinet choir. How can I get a copy of your arrangement?
Whoa! AWESOME!
ILOVE THIS!!!!,!
Awesome! Feelings everywhere :)
Korean Glissandos ! Excellent playing.
Whoa. •_• wish I could play like that.
Well I've got a video of Annie's Song on my flute, and I've self-taught clarinet, but to hell can I glissando! It's really difficult yet you made it perfect. the whole song is perfect in fact

***** im better than both of you sooooo
that was a justified reaction considering it is the truth

+Justin Phillips
Let's hear it then
i like this music
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!
Took me 5 1/2 minutes to realize they didn't have a conductor :P
Cool! You rock!
So I tried emailing and got no reply, does anyone else happen to have this arrangement as is willing to share...?
대박이네요!!
Love it
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
やば、上手すぎっ!!!!!
That glissando was amazing.
Why doesn't this have more views?
Bravissimi!
Squidward would be proud
Squidward is a disgrace to all clarinets, I hate being called squidward, and I'm sure they do too.
+Joshua Hirtle literally the bane of ever clarinetist's existance
+HankusTheTankus333 yes, he makes everyone think that every clarinet player is bad, but we're not all terrible like he is
+Joshua Hirtle shh don't tell squidward that
he's a very "good" clarinetist
+Gene Cruz I feel like the show purposely made him awful to stereotype the clarinet
middle clarinet player's shoulders are my pet peeve
Very Good.
where can I get the sheets for this ?? beautiful !!
Reminds me of 'Tom and Jerry' !!! So pretty!
Doing this in my school, but as a quartet. No bass clrainet, all regular standard clarinets. It's really hard to learn!
no. actually theres three bflats an alto and a bass clarinet. the contrabass is larger and deeper.
This is wonderful. Is there any way that you would give or sell a copy of the sheet music?
Way to play Rhapsody in Blue guys. That's the best ever I've ever heard it. Those 16 who don't like it obviously have a drug problem.
Is it possible for me to get the score to this?
Thanks!
Where can I get the clarinet sheet music for this quintet?
Just learn all the parts by ear
Don't be that guy. Not everyone has the time or skill to learn a solo by ear.
You go james
Don't be annoying Troy.
Hi,
I'm a junior at Edina High School in Minnesota and I and some of my co-clarinetists really love this arrangement you guys did! We are wondering if you can tell us where you found this arrangement? And if you made it yourself, if we can somehow get a copy? We would love to perform it for our annual Pops Concert if possible.
Thanks and looking forward to a response!
send your question to clarie228@gmail.com
+Joan De Winne I did. But I did not receive a response.
That cough at 0:40 was timed perfectly.
Is there anyway I can get a hold of the music? this specific arrangement? We would like to perform this for out city wide and state wide contest.
I really want the sheets to his. I have no problem paying for it!
how do you make a glissando? i keep trying but it keeps failing. these guys art amazing btw. gershwin is my favorite but i also like benny goodman and woody allen
Nice job guys!! where can I find this arrangement? thanks!
どの楽譜を使っているのか教えてください。
Please could i have the sheet music for this?
this is amazing!! is there anyway to get this arrangement??
wow very cool :)
the guy in the very beginning it lookes like he is BARELY changing notes... but the note goes really high... what the junk? how does that work? as a clarinetist I MUST KNOW 0_0
+Nathaniel Pully Alternate Fingerings! For example, all fingers down with the C# key is High F.
Dude I gotta learn how to do that and transition like a trombone shortening the slide, but going up like that
This is also true. thanks Anni! Yeah it is quite difficult but fun!
Not sure if you found the answer but I'm pretty sure its a glissando and very difficult.
Certainly!
is there any way to get an arrangement of this?
Sheet music! PLEASE!!
으악! 간단히 놀라운
the first clarinets posture is making me cringe though =l
I agree with you im practically crying inside I've been playing clarinet for 4 years now and this is really hard to watch i must say though they do sound nice
Robert Hermesmeyer seems to work pretty well for him.
Ur like the tenth millionth person to say that omg. When ur good enough posture doesn't affect you.
Oh my god same
Sheet Music please
Will pay good money for the arrangement
혹시 악보좀 구매할 수 있을까요??
Wait wait, it's both!! Contra was the 4th one, Bass was the 5th!
Contra is HUGE. No way you can confuse an Alto and Contra Clarinet.
