  • Annie Sloan demonstrates just how easy it is to gild your painted furniture using her Gilding Wax, using two colours to build up an authentic look.
    Annie Sloan developed her unique and versatile decorative paint, Chalk Paint®, in 1990. She wanted to create one paint that could achieve several different techniques and finishes - from creating a textured chippy look to achieving a smooth modern finish, or even creating a wash. Annie's paint is non toxic, low VOC, and very easy to work with. There's no need to prime or sand before starting - you can just get stuck straight in to the fun bit!

    I really love this and have a very similar table that is older. I have painted in two of your blues, but it needs something more, perhaps I will do this now. I love the admission that you have painted it many times.

      Absolutely! That will look fabulous! Be sure to apply the gold prior to waxing, as a gold paint containing acrylic or latex wont bond to the wax. -Jen at ASI

    Hi, can I apply the gliding wax first then seal my furniture with clear top coat?

    • @AnnieSloanHome
      @AnnieSloanHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Gilding Wax will need to go on top of the clear topcoat. It should be the last thing you apply.

    I'm looking to paint a gold accent on a piece I painted one solid color. Am I better off using a gold paint or this metallic wax? If I use the wax, should I wait to wax my entire piece until after I've done the metallic wax (my piece is already painted a solid color, I still need to acquire the metallic wax), or can I put it over an already waxed piece? Lastly, would I need to put the clear wax over the metallic wax? Thank you!

    • @AnnieSloanHome
      @AnnieSloanHome  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Emily, gold paint or metallic wax is totally a style choice. Gilding wax is the final step in the process. You can apply it over the wax and there is no need to put Clear Wax over the top.

      Yes, definitely finish with Clear Wax to protect. If you find the Gilding Wax comes off a little, you can always reapply over the Clear Wax!

      As the wax is oil-based, I would advise using a Wax over the top rather than a varnish.
