    Just about everything went into the spray booth over the weekend. The Tamiya Red sprayed great with the Mobius .3mm airbrush. Usually I struggle with red, but today it went down without a hitch. The black sprayed easily as did the flat aluminum for the diamond plate. I plan on doing black seats, black door panels, and a black floor. That should go well with the red metal parts of the interior.
    It will be getting a working bubble light and flashing headlights and taillights as well if I can get away with it sound. All run by an old tv remote.

    A few times I have used sheet plastic to cover an automatic transmission pan. Cut to shape and chamfer the edges and glue over the pan. This eliminates having to deal with a bad seam (and sanding, putty etc). It's not always an option but I've used it a now and then. 👍

    Hi, Mark! I look forward to hearing that speaker! Sounds (pun intended) like you've got it figured out!
    I have several of the Mobious 68-71 Ford F trucks. I plan to build models of the 69 F250 I had and the trailer I built from a 68 F100. I bought their 69 model specifically for the grille, which has a depression down the length of the center bar. Box art clearly showed a 69 grille. Got it home, opened it up, and... no depression down the center bar! 😡
    Same grille as the 68 kit! I think they like to interchange parts between kits and hope that no one notices because...... those are not 67 door panels. Those are the style used from 68-72. 67's have a lot of 1 year only features.
    They done hosed us both!

    • @grandpamarkshobbies
      @grandpamarkshobbies  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sure noticed that when I was looking for inspiration for this build. It's like they just did a grab bag of parts and hoped no one would notice. LOL So with that I decided to just do it like I wanted and make it look good.

    Leave the dash red, and just the instruments black. Maybe a unit identification on the glove box. Maybe find another 007 radio setup at Ollies! I don’t remember all that cleanup on mine.

    • @grandpamarkshobbies
      @grandpamarkshobbies  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is what I did. The dash is red, the instruments are black as well as the climate control and the radio. Then the knobs and trim is chrome. I think it came out really good. And the door panels did too. Red around the outside, and black panels with a chrome trim. It really looks nice. And a black seat and floor. It's going to look just like a squad.

      I use Tamiya's thin, and CA glue. I'll post a link to that at the end of the post. With the thin you can't have any paint but it's a very strong bond. With the CA glue i put a drop of glue in a water bottle cap or a plastic spoon. Then I use a toothpick to put the glue where I want it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000DD1QQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    All those colors are spot on Mark. The battery, control box came out nice. Gonna need some handles or latches on it, no? Whats your mix for your paint? That red came out great! I'm doing a '63 Impala SS in red. Geez I loved that car. I tried some spray can red and I had to stick it in the pond. Just didn't like the way it came out. I do get a kick out of your mixes to make colors your own. I'd love to know what and how much you thin your paints out. The lights and electronics are going to be so cool. You are so good with that stuff. It would make a great video. Thanks for the informative video. Done nice, all in frame. No brain farts either LOL.

    • @grandpamarkshobbies
      @grandpamarkshobbies  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. I did make hand grips for the tops of both side boxes and for the battery box. I may try and figure out how to put a hose reel up there too. That red is just Tamiya's X7 not mixed with any other color. I do thin it almost 1 to 1 with tamiya's thinner and 6 or 7 drops of Tamiya retarder. Just make it a little thicker than water and give it a try on a spoon. About 18 psi with a .3mm tip. Try it and if it's too thin you can add paint, or add thinner if it's too thick. Tamiya paints are very forgiving. That's why I use them. LOL Yes, this electronics is going to be a lit of fun. I pulled out the bubble light and will drill it out tomorrow to get things rolling. The video station sure is helping me with keeping things in frame. and I've been editing out the brain farts. LOL

      Thanks for the info about your paint mix. One more thing...are you 100% acrylic now? I still have some paints that are not. What a pain clean up is for them. I'm debating to use them or not. Thank you very much. I use the Arduino nano for the computer, the mp3 is just one that I found on amazon that the internet said will work. LOL It came with 3 of them so I can't even tell you what it was. As for the red. It is Tamiya X7. I painted 3 or 4 coats to get to this color. Remember though that the plastic is molded in a tan color so that darkened up the color just a bit. If I was spraying over white I might put a base coat of buff down first.
