A very simple way is to keep an eye on Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, Dexterity Every time you change an item just watch those numbers. If they go up then better, I'd they go down then it's not better. Also put the comparison help on in the menu. When comparing items if it is better in areas it will highlighted Green. If worse in areas it will be highlighted in Red. You don't really need to do the maths - just use what see giving the best using the Primary Stats and Green and Red indications.
Great explanations. I wish the in-game tooltips and menus gave more information about these (yes, I know it's a tough choice from UI perspective, especially when catering to mobile devices). Also, is it just me or some of the damage and/or defence multipliers randomly (dis)appear from the stats menu when we switch gear, reassign skill points etc.? Edit: What do you guys think of separate [Mats] and [Stats] buttons next to each other instead of the combined one? I swear that thing always opens the exact opposite menu of the one I want to look at.

Can you explain dominant stat priorities for different classes, builds and why they're dominant? Like should I run crit on a sorc? And when or why should I for what reason? Like I just started, and I want to figure out what stats I should use on my sorcerer. I've found all sorts of cool items. And one other thing, I found a cool dagger, but its a dagger and not a wand, is that good for my sorc?
Im range rogue i have a question Did i get the stat from my weapon dagger whn i m using my bow? Let say my dagger + dex 10 + crit dmg 10 Did i get this when im using bow or only get it when im using dagger? Any one having same question or it just me?

Far too many damage types for my liking, if they simplified much of these it wouldn’t impact the game and wold also make damage more stable/predictable. I reckon anyway.

If you want new players and grow your player base the last thing you want to do is say oh here is 4 stats and oh btw they dont do same thing based on what character you have and if the moon is out and slightly to the right in the sky.

Just fyi.. you only get ability points for levels 1-49. Level 50 does NOT give you an ability point, but gives you a paragon point instead.

I came from the Destiny community. Drybear has the ability to breakdown stats like Datto, but is actually pleasant to watch and interact with.
Lots of destiny players moved to Diablo. Me too...

I have all stats at 84 on my pulverize Druid, 2 handed staff. I want core skill damage but would be losing 330+ stats total. What should I do?

@@Sinn0100 don't try to equip minion skills through the skill tree. Instead click skills button when you are on main screen.

You want Strength to increase damage for all characters even casters?
So, instant dislike and never recommend due to the pathetic little curse at the start
