Flew on a Qantas A380 from LAX to MEL in seat 80A. It was nice to have a window seat with no one in front of me. Made it convenient to get in and out without bothering my neighbors. And that economy section in the back has less passengers with that nice snack bar. Almost felt like premium economy.
I have this seat for syd to london next month. We’re you able to move out of the seat from in front of you to go to the bathroom etc?

When I flew to Sydney to watch my wife compete on one of the U.S. teams at the 2000 Sydney Games, my flight time on Qantas from Los Angeles was 16 hours on a 747. I suppose they can do it faster now. I recall being seated in economy....in a middle seat.....in the screaming baby section.
747 and A380 have similar cruise speed. 747 may be very slightly faster. Southbound from LAX is a little over 1 hour longer than northbound due to winds. Current Qantas schedule shows 13:45 northbound and 15:00 southbound.
They are probably going to fly the same speed nowadays because even though the planes are more fuel efficient now, the fuel price have increased substantially therefore they would fly slower to burn less fuel.
So cool that your wife is an Olympian !! 👍👍👍16hrs !!? Oh woah !! That,no can do !! Lol. My personal limit is 11hrs !! Anything behind ,I'll have to rest somewhere on my way for a couple of days ,then fly again maybe .Lol.😅💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞

@@spark_6710 The total travel time between leaving my home and arriving in the hotel room in Sydney was 36 hours. I first had to fly to Charlotte, North Carolina to change planes to a flight from Charlotte to Los Angeles and then change planes and terminals again before getting on the 16 hour Qantas flight segment to Sydney. The nice part was when I checked in at my home airport where the ticket agent commented that I had a very long day in store for me. When I replied that I was going to watch my wife compete in the Sydney Games he took my boarding pass back and tore it up. He then printed a new boarding pass and stamped First Class on it which got me a nice seat as far as Los Angeles and was very much appreciated

I did the QF11/12 trips back in 1992 and 1994. These were 747-400 queen of the skies. I also had to fly Melbourne to Sydney on the Queen, and change planes. No flights direct to the USA in those times from Melbourne. It's so long especially in economy.
lt's not long,but ultra long,but it's as simple as, for example,from Darwin in Australia to London in England,which the airline is called,according to a Brazilian aviation website here in Brazil.And still claims the airline Qantas Airways.
@@richardfelixgoncalves4233 I love Darwin and have flown from Melbourne which is four hours on a 737-800. I have not been back to England since 1983. When I came to Australia in 1970 it was on a Caledonian 707. Technical stops were Karachi and KUALA Lumpur. It was a long flight for a nine year old and sister 6. Mums eardrum was perforated and she was in pain. Long haul is for the young teens. I am over it now.
ive done the 18 hour london darwin on the 787. pretty much the same except longer and newer but no free drinks bar at the back!?!?! however will hopefully be doing this this xmas swiss to zurich then LA then that to sydney.
Very exciting so far,but just enjoy the places you want,that during the flight was very perfect,and it was one of the best l've ever seen.

I flew on VH-OQB on November 25 2019 SIN-MEL. Lower deck economy class just ahead of the wings. It was the quietest aircraft I've ever flown on. The tail camera was not working though. Let's enjoy these A380's while we can because they won't be around forever that is for sure.
Its a real shame that they intend to retire these wonderful aircraft, 2 of the best flights (economy) that I have ever had.
Just done syd Darwin London, Darwin leg to London 787 17 hrs middle row was brutal, coming back A380 via Singapore Window seat felt like first class.( not that I ever flown first lol)

Do Emirates A380s also fly this route? I don't think that Qantas is as luxurious as Emirates for some reason, or any of the middle eastern airlines.
It seems the "whale" gave you an incredible flight. Overall, your food and drink, were acceptable, per your comments. The A380 is a beautiful aircraft. Like the A340, B747 and the A380, these aircraft share the fact that 4 engines use more fuel, than 2 engines do. What a shame those beautiful aircraft, are going the way of the dodo bird.

If you took off from Sydney, it should have been damp because of the floods.. I didn’t see and extra water or damp- ness
Also Qantas is rated the best airline of the year, actually a couple of times.
not quite true sorry. they have been safest in the world a few times but skytrax never gave them best although they used to be top 10 often. dropped to top 20 now. they are still very good though

Partially. We were suppose to arrive at 7am but only arrived at 8:15. Plus customs took another 1hr30m so if your connecting out of LAX I highly recommend making sure you have plenty of time as you might need it

Yeah, but there was at least one close call. In one case there was a whole systems failure when a Qantas a380 engine exploded mid-flight. Captain barely made it to land.
Random question but how tall are you? Flying Heathrow to Singapore then on to Perth next month with family. Husband is 6’2 and I’m 5’11. Wondering if there will be enough leg room!

OMG it must have been hellish for you. I just don't know how people can fly anything other than first class. There are so many diseases back there in cattle class and the food and service must be horrible. Not that I would know of course. I always travel First Class - nothing less will do really.
😂 what a highly uneducated opinion…. The air plane shares the same air recirculating systems. So if economy class has diseases, then so does the entire plane…
@@Dyna-mite154 Oh - I am highly qualified I will have you know my good man. I have a BA from Harvard and a Masters from Cambridge. It is a scientific fact my boy that the air quality is far superior in First Class. Just one look at the rif raf that are in cattle class and one can see for themselves just how poor the air quality will be.

@@CUGS2009 Oh I one hundred percent agree, first class is the only way to fly. Cattle class is such a easy way to get ill. Imagine how frustrating it would be to not have constant service of high quality food and drinks.
