I think Five did that as well, the licking thing. But he really didn't use his Sonic all that much... All in all I think running the sonic over it is a good move, before you lick it, at least you'll know if it's toxic or not. However in this case the new Sonic probably just wasn't ready yet.
the tenth doctor did say that the fifth was "his doctor" during "time crash" i pretty sure thats referring to the 5th doctor being the doctor David Tennant grew up with along with tom baker. maybe thats why he does it. a tip of the hat to his doctor. that and "the brainy specs" that he doesnt need but wears them because they make him look clever and the voice thing where his voice gets all high when he shouts. i guess tennant basically admits that he does a lot of the this davidson did. also thats his father in law.
Ani0227 Five didn't actually use the glasses that much, he only ever had them in his last season - I also liked him better with the longer hair, but I can see why he changed it. And I think David actually sometimes wears glasses of screen, so he does need them, just maybe not all the time. It's also in that little intro he wrote for one of the box sets (I think it was series 3). The voice "going squeaky" actually happens automatically when you get excited or speak a little louder, they don't shout all that much - I know it happens with me. Just look at the "Blood Control" bit in this clip - he isn't shouting, he's just excited to see something he hasn't encountered in a long time. The "you were my Doctor" line in Time Crash maybe from David's personal experience of watching DW as a kid, but it could also be because they are quite alike and Nine was a fair bit grumpier - not quite as much as One, but still... Ten certainly seemed to enjoy himself a lot more, with either of his companions than Nine had (understandably, as he'd just come out of the Time War), or at least he was able to show it better. And Ten's certainly dashing about a fair bit as well, not to mention the life saving cricket ball throw in the Family of Blood double. Of course the language is quite different, with Five being more formal - but both of them have some references to pop culture. I might have missed some in Five's run (I remember Alice in the Five Doctors), mainly because I'm not from the UK so I wouldn't get the more obscure ones, but Ten has them quite a lot whenever they fit the theme (Lion King, Back to the Future, Harry Potter). I'm consciously excluding Shakespeare lines/ quotes because a lot of them are so frequently used anyway that we don't take them as such anymore.
Yeah 5 did lick things(not as often as 10, probably because 5 liked to act more normal and mature and tried to lead as an example to his companions so he didn't have Adric or Tegan or Nyssa or Turlough or Peri, though I doubt Peri would, licking things)but as for the sonic...fivey lost his in 'the visitation'when the Teraleptil destroyed it when he was trying to hide it so he could escape but he was just a few seconds too late :( "I feel as though you have just killed an old friend..." -5th Doctor, 'The Visitation'
Teaghan Treherne Yeah, I know about Five's Sonic... but I suppose he could always have made a new one, or asked the TARDIS to do so - if he'd really missed it... I can't remember Ten's companions ever licking something, though...

Proof that the tenth was made to love her. The Doctor has some control over his regeneration and here we see that even with everything going on, the first thing he needed to sort out was whether or not Rose liked how he looked. He created a younger, more handsome, eager, and emotionally available version for her to love. While the Ninth Doctor was a pessimist, the Tenth Doctor was a optimist. And that was all because of his love for Rose.
Don’t forget how he got blasted in the Stolen Earth and used his chopped-off hand to regenerate himself into the same body, because Rose. The power she had over him was unreal.
Well, the new look was probably meant to impress her, he's not usually that pretty, at least not in such a straightforward way XD I bet he reeeeally concentrated.
Green Binder No, sorry, what I meant to say by that is not that Ten isn't pretty, but that he's one of the more 'conventionally' attractive incarnations. (So more or less the opposite) They all have their charme, but usually in a more 'raw diamond'-ish manner. He's notoriously bad at controlling he winds up looking compared to the other Time Lord's we've seen, but he might have some vague control at least.
@@KendrixTermina well, he does reference turning in to Capaldi's Doctor based on someone he wanted to remember and why he needed someone with him. Because Donna made him see that he is the last of the Time Lords and if he can still protect the timestream and do good, he should.
Tennant's line about how you can't hypnotise someone to death is even more hilarious knowing that he goes on to play Kilgrave, a character who can do exactly that.
*Am I funny?* Yes *Am I sarcastic?* At times *Sexy?* Hell yeah *Right handed?* Yes *Left handed?* No *A gambler?* You like taking chances we'll put it at that. *A fighter?* When needed. *A coward?* One of the bravest men I've ever met. *A traitor?* No *A liar?* Only when you say you'll be right back. *A nervous wreck?* Sometimes.
sycorax:who exactly are you? doctor:you see that's the question who am I I don't.... sycorax:I DEMAND TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE!? doctor:(mocking sycorax) I DONT KNOW!!!!!! LMAO best part of the episode
Domihork I want the ginger one to be a girl so it's just like *sees long flowing hair in front of eyes* "yes finally I'm ginger!" *notices voice* "I'm a girl?!" *episode ends*
Ok... I'm watching Doctor Who during this period for the first time. Yesterday was the turn for this. And I felt what makes this scene so great is the enthusiasm in David. He's like finally jumping on that stage and with such pure joy, as it's what he waited for since he was a child. He explodes with joy. And acts this like a Shakespeare monologue, making it great and amazing. And so precious.
One of the funniest scenes. My favorite parts are,"Am I Ginger? Man I wanted to be Ginger! Am I rude, rude and not ginger? I don't know! Am I sarcastic, funny, sexy?" David is so hilarious, love this show!
The Ninth Soctor said the primary monitor on the TARDIS Console is tuned into our broadcast communication channels he can watch all sorts of tele, including The Football.
This is the scene that sold David Tennant as the doctor for me first time I watched it. Mainly because at a young age being quite scared of the sycorax leader to have the doctor come out of the Tardis take his whip from his hand and shout at them has very reassuring and great to see
can we just take this moment 3:25 to realize that one of his past persona's watched the lion king? i think 9 would be the most likely, but the second i can see watching it too lol
Ann Carter he's gonna keep wishing, but i think it'll be funnier if it actually dont happen, well until he loses all hope aNd actually ends up being ginger lol
I love this scene for its significance to the overall structure of post-regeneration stories. The Doctor is still learning about himself, so to speak, and so is the audience. Usually the audience has a good grasp of the Doctor fairly quickly in any story. Tennant is so great in this scene keeping everyone on their toes, trying to figure out what he'll eventually do.
I love this scene. :D You can almost read Rose's thoughts, when the Doctor "sexy"-winked at her. Also, the pressure in the room when he asks whether he's ginger is unnaturally high...
To be fair Rose tyler fell in love with the 9th doctor and his personality not his looks, when he changed into the 10th Rose never knew about the regeneration process so she had to remember who he was inside not outside. Really glad in the end Rose got her doctor who will grow old and never regenerate so one life together and just maybe they had kids together. After all I'd the clone doctor is part human surely he could produce kids that could be part time Lord's???
I always thought that Tennant's personality changed throughout his three seasons. In the first, he was really random and strange and goofy, but by the last one, he was completely serious.
He did have some crazy stuff go down but that's pretty much every Doctor. Still, he did go through three different main companions and a few minor companions.
Ten was never the same after losing Rose at the end of series 2. He was quite silly, goofy and generally cheerful in series 2, as you said. From series 3 onward though, Ten was much more serious. Those old characteristics would pop up every now and then, but he was generally much more brooding and moody. I really enjoy Tennant in series 2, but he went to a whole other level after that. I far prefer the serious tenth Doctor of series 3 and 4 tbh. He became my favourite Doctor ever.
This was the start of the 21st century's GREATEST Doctor! David is awesome: film references, a tirade that makes you laugh each time and his attitude with the Sycorax when he screams "I DON'T KNOW!"I doubt that even the rough-edged Chris Ecclestone could match that!
Even though I haven't seen Matt Smith as the doctor yet (I just started watching the series recently and have just started the 3rd series/season of the revived series), I have to say that I think that David Tennant will always be my favorite doctor. While I can't be positively certain that that will always be true, I just have a feeling that I'm always going to be comparing the next doctors to him, no matter how hard I try not to.
EveNarasi I finally watched the first two episodes with Matt Smith and wasn't very impressed. However, I've heard many people say (including my sister) that it took them awhile to warm up to him. I think a lot of changes were made to show and that's why it was hard for people to accept him as the doctor. I'm sure people had the same reaction to Peter Davison (who just happens to be David Tennant's father-in-law) as the fifth doctor after Tom Baker left. Still, everybody has their favorite Doctor and I'm almost 100% positive that David Tennant will always be mine. I guess you could say he was kind of the Tom Baker of the revived series. He was, after all, one of only two actors to beat Tom Baker as the most popular doctor and the only one to beat him twice (according to Doctor Who Magazine). He's just that good.
I know for sure now that no one else will ever be as good as the tenth for me. I have finally started to like Matt Smith, but it took me seven episodes into the fifth season for me to do so. However, I did like the scene in 'The Eleventh Hour' where he kept trying different foods and throwing them out after finding he didn't like them (fish fingers and custard, yuck!). The rest of the episode just wasn't that funny. I think it had to do with the fact that not only was it a completely new doctor, but also Steven Moffat had just taken over as showrunner. In a way, it kind of reminded me of what happens with a new show. It takes a while to get into a rhythm, to find out what the fans like, and to find out what works and what doesn't. This time, it just happened to be a show that had been on for four seasons and already had a lot of fans from the current version and the previous version. Still, I don't think fans should have given up on Matt Smith as the doctor so quickly. If they were true fans of the show, they wouldn't have given up on him so easily. But, he had the same task that Peter Davison had when he became the doctor in classic who. They both had to follow a doctor who was really popular with the fans. I don't know about Peter Davison's popularity with the fans, but Matt Smith seems to have become pretty popular, despite having to follow one of the most popular doctors of all time.
Holly Shue I'm actually glad I'm not the only one who feels about Smith that way. I was worried I was turning into one of those bad fangirls who are forever stuck on one character and can't let go (which, admittedly, I am.. *sigh*). But despite the fact that Tennant is forever going to be *my* doctor, I'm really looking forward to Capaldi now, I heard he's going to be darker and more manipulative, which sounds just like my kind of thing... are you through with all series yet? I have to say the last few episodes of series 7 were quite good, though I hated the last one.
***** firstly, I can't tell you girls how happy I am that it's possible to discuss this here with you... especially in a civil tone ;) You are right, some parts of Matt weren't that bad, and he was certainly good for a few laughs. As for Amy, "not overly attached" is an understatement. I positively hated her for several reasons. Oh, she's so in love with Rory? I could see that when she tried to snog the Doctor on the night before her wedding. Or in that episode when she was trapped on that planet in a faster timeline? Why was she complaining like that, she *knew* it wasn't even a day for the other two and they needed some time to think of something! Also, she never seemed to get anything done by herself, always screaming for the Doctor (remember the time when she had to reanimate Rory - love of her life, right? - and only managed that because the Doctor told her to go on?). So, no, I didn't like her. But Clara's quite promising, I hope to see a lot of her still.
this whole scene just feeds into the idea that the doctor regenerated into a younger, more traditionally handsome body bc he wanted to be more compatible with rose him saying "first things first, be honest, how do i look?" and paying very close attention to her answer and reaction so when she says different he immediately goes "good different, bad different?" like a puppy so eager to please oh doctor, as if the face is what made love you and not your personality
After all this time of being used to Ten, you sort of forget how jarring it was to have him be all hyper and fanboying about everything in front of him after being used to Nine XD Still, this dude... The Doctor and his priorities. Always the hair. Remember when he interrupted that epic farewell phonecall with Clara to have a vanity related freakout...? Personally, I think the hair color gods just got fed up with his complaining...
He is always gonna be my favorite doctor since the first episode he had some amazing moments and the way he cared about rose and emotional he got at the end it's amazing how david nailed it
"A great big threatening button that should never ever be pressed under any circumstances, am I right?" xD All the other Doctors took some warming up to, but this singular scene was all I needed to fall in love with Ten.
"That's rude!" I finally get it... I always thought he was saying that Rose was being rude cause she "gave up" on The Doctor but he was talking about himself, noting that what he just said about Rose was rude to say.
Tamara Morrison He has saved your lives so many times and you've never even known he was there...he never stops...he never stays...and I can't remember the rest of that speech but still.
yumthegreat Next lines- "He never asks to be thanked. But I've seen him, I know him... I love him... and I know what he can do." I don't know after that.
This was my absolute favorite debut of any of the Doctors. His questions to the people around him are questions that I can believe the actor himself asks the audience about his take on the Doctor. The fight scene that follows, his wit and everything about him made him one of my favorite doctors~
These scene is probably one of my favourite from Ten x') (wich is fun cause he's the Tenth, and he's named TENnant), for this : - how he wants so badly to be ginger ! :D and the "is that who I am then ? Rude ? Rude and not ginger ? - the "I DON'T KNOOOW" is so hilarious xD - the "sexy ?" With the blinking eye... Definitely too sexy - the big button speech :p - when he goes for a long speech and then "wait... That's the Lion King" I was literally dead at this moment xD This is awesome, love doctor who, love the doctor ten, and eleven, they are awesome
"You can hypnotize someone to walk like a chicken or sing like Elvis, you can’t hypnotize them to death. Survival instinct’s too strong." Said Kilgrave...
This is just more proof of why Tennant was my favorite Doctor, not only was he my introduction into the series but he was wild, eccentric, calm, collected, kind or a full blown monster. The 10th doctor had so many facets to him that we never really knew what we were going to get, he was wild, unpredicatable and borderline psychotic and the best damn doctor i've known
ever since the first epidsode of the second season David Tennant has put a lot of humor in all the seasons I saw with him in it well iv'e only seen 4 seasons with him but David Tennant is the best doctor who by far hes awesome
He's the Doctor that made me laugh AND cry the most :P The eps w/ Matt Smith that I thought were emotional were due to Amy and Rory mostly. Loved the 9th Doctor, too. He got me hooked onto this show.
I love how the Sicarax just take a back seat while 10 is talking to Rose Mickey and Harriet until “if I might interrupt” 😂 Leader who has taken them hostage essentially on his command ship threatened them and they’re just having a catch up after 10 told him to shut it 😂

And later Cassandra confirms it
Tennant's line about how you can't hypnotise someone to death is even more hilarious knowing that he goes on to play Kilgrave, a character who can do exactly that.

A great big threatening button. It suddenly sounds so appealing
Honestly, I just love the way Tennant says it.

30 seconds in and I instantly liked him, the way he talks is hilarious
This is why he will always be the greatest doctor
In this exact scene I realised David would be amazing as the Doctor.
This is the scene that sold David Tennant as the doctor for me first time I watched it. Mainly because at a young age being quite scared of the sycorax leader to have the doctor come out of the Tardis take his whip from his hand and shout at them has very reassuring and great to see
Silence will fall when the question is asked.... Am I ginger?

I can't wait to see the Doctor's reaction when he finally becomes a ginger. I'm quite happy to wait since I'm loving the 12th doctor's portrayal.
Wait is it confirmed that he's finally going to be ginger?

Ann Carter he's gonna keep wishing, but i think it'll be funnier if it actually dont happen, well until he loses all hope aNd actually ends up being ginger lol
Dahabo Omar I think the last portrayal of the Doctor will be ginger.
Proof Barty Crouch jr wanted to be a aweasley all along! :-P

You can almost read Rose's thoughts, when the Doctor "sexy"-winked at her. Also, the pressure in the room when he asks whether he's ginger is unnaturally high...
Well the gingerness is quite important lol

+Jeff H Aguirre Ohh, c'mon, she already was in love with him, have you seen those looks she and Nine exchanged?
well, Clara fell in love of Eleventh ... what can we say about her and Twelfth now? :p
***** To soon =( ....

I hope the opposite doesn't happen with Capaldi. So far I'm liking the dark serious side of the doctor.
@@sya8109 I've got some bad news..... That's EXACTLY what ended up happening to Capaldi's Doctor. 😂
MrAzmatMahmood You’re 4 years too late mate. XD
I really love the tenth Doctor. This was such a good intro, like the end of the first episode just nailed it :D (And Matt at the end is hilarious)
This was the start of the 21st century's GREATEST Doctor! David is awesome: film references, a tirade that makes you laugh each time and his attitude with the Sycorax when he screams "I DON'T KNOW!"I doubt that even the rough-edged Chris Ecclestone could match that!
“I’m him, I’m literally him.” He knew of a meme years before it came out, I’d expect nothing less from a Time Lord.

EveNarasi
I finally watched the first two episodes with Matt Smith and wasn't very impressed.
Holly Shue I never really warmed to Matt Smith's Doctor either. I loved Nine and adored Ten, but Eleven just didn't get to fascinate me in that way.
***** firstly, I can't tell you girls how happy I am that it's possible to discuss this here with you... especially in a civil tone ;)
You are right, some parts of Matt weren't that bad, and he was certainly good for a few laughs. But Clara's quite promising, I hope to see a lot of her still.
this whole scene just feeds into the idea that the doctor regenerated into a younger, more traditionally handsome body bc he wanted to be more compatible with rose
him saying "first things first, be honest, how do i look?" and paying very close attention to her answer and reaction so when she says different he immediately goes "good different, bad different?" like a puppy so eager to please
oh doctor, as if the face is what made love you and not your personality
Oh pul-eaze. This is "Doctor Who," not "Twighlight."
After all this time of being used to Ten, you sort of forget how jarring it was to have him be all hyper and fanboying about everything in front of him after being used to Nine XD
Still, this dude...

Best New Doctor introduction actually. It fits like a glove since day one.
