Fun fact: Before 1948, Pyongyang was once known as the Jerusalem of the East and was once known for having many people who were christian there. Due to it being north korea it hasn't gotten that much recognition as a Christian city since then.

@@khust2993 Its is true though i think they were refering to the fact that Pyongyang has the most christian population during that time in East Asia only, (majority of east asians are either Confusians, follower of the Dao, Buddhist, or atheist) so its rare for Christians and catholics to be their, this is not counting South East Asia whom Philippines is an obvious answer.

In the soviet union in Moscow, they set up protestant churchs from other denominations,( particularly I'm talking about the baptist one because thats the ones I know the information about other than pentecostal churchs from USSR) the pastors there were all required to spy for the KGB, not allow children under 18 to go to church, no preaching on repantance, no feet washing, no alter calls, no laying of hands for healing of the sick, for pentecostals no praying in toungues. Only put preachers they liked. No doing humanitarian help among the people.
They would use these dead nominal churchs that were filled with KGB agents to show people grom the western countries as if USSR has freedom of religion, but in truth they kills, pursecuted, arrested, fined, beat, and abused the rest of the Christians, and would try to keep it a secret.
Which btw the ussr constitution also allowed for freedom of religion. They would prosecute Christians under the anti-revolutinary act and call them agents of the west because they had bibles that were printed in US or Europe.
Same thing here. This guys eyes are blinking so hard, he is afraid to tell the truth. Christians there are being abused worse than the soviet union.

There's nothing to be proud. Salvation is a free gift to keep you from becoming proud. You're supposed to be humble and not boast because you cannot boast as salvation is a free gift. Satan became proud and tried to exalt himself above God and therefore was thrown out while Jesus became humble to the point of dying naked on a cross and obeying God till the last moment and God exalted him in return. Do some fasting (which has been made mandatory by Jesus) in order to humble yourself so that God may exalt you in due time

Something touched on but not really expanded on in this interview is the demographics of Christians in North Korea. They're mostly old people because Christian Churches in North Korea exist explicitly to accommodate Christians and their families who practiced before the war. Young people are discouraged from observing any belief system other than the Juche Idea but elderly churchgoers aren't a threat to the regime.

I can't tell if this is scripted or not. im pretty doubtful the Kim regime would allow establishments like these to operate.
if this is genuine im pretty sure only the most privileged of certain selected North Koreans can practice freely

No, North Korea is far more free than you realise. It's the US that is the great propaganda machine which has killed millions of koreans and burnt its cities to the ground.

Anyone who believes this interview or church to be real: you’ve got major problems and need to do a helluhva lot more research. Look up Yeonmi Park on TH-cam. Watch her most recent video about the NK orchestra conductor.

    • @Jaclyn_Zen
      @Jaclyn_Zen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@jxhensley she earns her living honestly by speaking, writing, doing interviews and spreading awareness. Her freedom and success should be celebrated, not envied or shamed. And there are plenty of others (not just her), who have fled NK and speak out about the shit going on over there. You obviously have no idea about NK, or you’re seriously delusional - if you think it’s all some sort of elaborate conspiracy theory. I suggest you do a bit more research.

I think you should know some of this:
Tbc, I’m not one of ^these^^ cult of personality worshipping NK denialists roleplaying as a communist. NK’s a hellscape. *I’m about as big an anti-authoritarian* as they come…*and even I know* that Yeonmi Park is full of shit. I used to trust her too.
You honestly believe “waaaah faculty asked our pronouns for the student info system at the start of the NYU semester - literally worse than North Korea.”? She said that shit so??? Wya?
I am *begging* you to use your critical thinking skills on this; and also follow the money.
She’s saying all manner of transparent or stupid shit, ruining the credibility of ALL defectors and whistleblowers, not just dubious ones.
I gave her the benefit of the doubt over and over; I finally looked into who funds her and how her statements have changed depending on who was bankrolling her at the time.
She’s said so many things that can’t possibly be true bc they either conflict or are *patently* absurd. Is NK a land of imperial cult control, torture, misery, poverty, and brainwashing the likes of which we’ve never seen where even the concept of love is so foreign it does not have a word and dying kids are not understood as a sad thing?
…Or is it about as bad as white-knuckling through some superficial college SJW lip-service for a few years in your 20’s? (That you can walk out of at any time.) It can’t be both.
(Furthermore, how I feel is who does she think she is dutifully scapegoating her boss’s targets whom she’s got nothing. to do with?)

Adding my voice to the chorus, even though by now I'm sure you've come to know this. Park is a known paid liar. There's a reason why so many defector testimonies highlighted by our media turn out to be false, while the defectors trying to get back because they realize they've been lied to are given no air time.

Yeonmi Park was caught lying/exaggerating/making contradictory statements from time to time
