Sebastian talks about Sam all the time after you're married. like every town event he's like "I'm excited to see Sam again at the festival!" and stuff like that. Sebastian is the best.
My first playthrough I fished a Joja Cola from the river and accidentally gave it to Sam while he was practicing his kick flips and he liked it. He's been important to me ever since.

Thank you for clarifying! I never realized their name changed because I always chose noise rock, lol. I'd just figured the name Goblin Destroyers was a nod to their DnD campaign.
Another note about Sam stepping up more when you have kids is that taking care of kids is something he does know how to do since he was taking care of Vincent. That really confirms for me that he wasn't not doing chores because he's inconsiderate, he just never had to pay attention to them before. But once there is something that he can help with, he steps in.
1:07:09 i’ve always seen his usage of “sir/ma’am” as a product of him growing up in a military family. the military places such strong emphasis on ranks and treating different ranks with a certain amount of respect, and this is definitely carried into the home life as well. i was a military brat (that is what military kids are called in the usa. don’t ask me why) and still call people i view as “superior” sir or ma’am, even though i’ve been moved out for 7 years now
Oh god the egg scene actually really got me as someone who was raised by a mom similar to Jodi, dad not around much, and one of my worst memories is an *incident* that occurred over..,,,, spilled milk. The thing they literally say is not worth crying over. I’m so glad that Sams character is getting treated with such care and talking about that weird line between parentification and infantilization. I feel like people who grow up infantilized are often judged harshly and rarely receive empathy or understanding from people when it can be very scary and shameful growing up in an environment like that where you’re walking on eggshells and aren’t allowed to do things for yourself because if you mess up, the parent will lose it. But jodi is still pretty patient and understanding, honestly
i honestly think sam is so tired of being infantilized like this. which is why he steps up when it comes to taking care of vincent, because it’s about the only thing his mom will let him do
@@SongofStorms413i definitely think he’s tired of it, and I think he has the awareness to know that his mom acts the way she does out of stress and needing to be in control and wants to help alleviate her stress as well, that’s the weird thing about helicopter parents is that they themselves are emotionally volatile and kids can often pick up on that and do their best to manage their parents mood which is where the weird parentification/infantilization crossover episode comes in🤪
The minute you said his sexy dad I was in. Honestly even though Jodi can bit a bit much at times, this is one of the cutest families in Stardew, especially the dynamic between Vince and Sam.
Sam's eye colour is WHATEVER you want it to be. Some of his portraits, especially the "surprised" one, have bright blue, others have light to dark grey, and his sprite has green eyes. Yup, green. It's allllll over the place, just like our boy.
All of those are on the lacking melanin scale of eye colour I believe, yes even green. In fact, he probably just has grey-which notoriously looks blue or green under certain lighting.
Love this! Also wanted to mention how refreshing it is to have someone with a very stereotypical "cool guy" aesthetic be so genuinely kind and accepting of everyone. Like, given his interests, it would have been easy to make him stand-offish like Seb, but he's not like that at all. And I feel like if the worst thing someone could say about you is that you're a little bit childish, that's pretty good all things considered lol.
I have a 3 year old and I feel obligated to knock on the bathroom door first, asking him if he needs help or letting him know that I’m coming in to help. Privacy is extremely important.
Sam saying "I play guitar when I feel lonely" and then him playing guitar every day is the exact vibes that Skullgirls has when Umbrella is like "I eat Icecream when I'm sad" and her sister replies "But you eat icecream everyday?" LMAO
i am actually sam dude literally every single aspect of his character relates to mine, i can't wait to listen to a two and a half hours analysis of essentially just me
38:40 Something to consider about Sebastian: like you touched on, his relationship with Sam might be deeper than it looks on the outside. If they’ve been friends for a long time, they can likely read each other better than you’d think, even when Seb doesn’t respond. It’s possible Sam could take Seb’s silence as, “Ah, guess he doesn’t feel up for it today. That’s fine. I’ll find something else to do.” Long-winded example: I’m an intro/extrovert, and I have ADHD. My hubby is a severe introvert and has difficulty connecting to others. We work great together. He’s the calm, collected one, while I’m the kooky one with all the antics. But I’m also often a homebody, too. I give him someone to talk to and just exist with, without the pressure of having to socially “perform” for me, if that makes sense. Sometimes I’m annoyed when he’s quiet or he doesn’t act as excited as I am about certain things, and I get very irritated when he doesn’t answer my text messages. But, I’ve learned to not be offended or think he doesn’t care when his interests don’t align with mine, and that he often doesn’t answer texts because he literally can’t think of what to say. Expressing himself in words or writing is really difficult for him (always has been), and coming up with an answer to my text can feel a bit like writing an essay for him. I can’t say I relate, but I respect that difficulty. I’m not perfect at reading him when he gets quiet, but I’m getting better and learning to respect that sometimes, for no particular reason, he’s just quiet. And that’s okay. Conversely, I have social anxiety as well, and sometimes I’m just not up to hanging out with someone. I’ve gotten better at explaining to my friends, “Hey, I’m having a day. I’d like to hang out, but my nerves are getting the better of me and I think I need to stay home.” The good friends understand and respect this (they often feel the same way, turns out), and when we do eventually hang out it’s like no time has passed at all. Because they GET it. Maybe Sam just gets it when Seb doesn’t answer. I don’t feel like they’d be very good friends if Sam was offended when Seb doesn’t answer, because not answering DMs sounds very in line with Seb. TL;DR: Shy people come off as boring, distant, disinterested, or just rude sometimes. But it’s the whole “crack the shell” analogy-once you take time to get to know them, they can be awesome! Okay, bye! Love your vids!
I honestly don't fault Sam for kinda regressing when he gets to live with you. For most of his life he had to play father figure to his little brother and walk around on eggshells with his mom. It's a very real thing that happens to young adults when they get away from a household that put them into an adult role before they were ready, they end up regressing if there's enough of their basic needs met in their new living environment, kind of catching up on the years of childhood they lost. I'm dealing with a similar thing after I moved in with my partner. I felt so ashamed when it started and I still kinda do, but my therapist says I need to let it run its course so my body can heal from the trauma I had as a kid. We're taking baby steps. I have to learn how to parent myself now instead of everyone around me. It's crazy. I feel for Sam so much.
Sam switching on as soon as he becomes a dad is a super ADHD thing!!! He puts himself down at first, calling himself lazy, when he doesn't do chores around the house. He feels bad about it. He thinks he should and he might want to, but he's stuck when it's just you around because he knows you aren't asking him to do things for you, you're a capable person on your own. But as soon as a baby comes into his life, it gives him this immediate, highly rewarding goal of helping someone he cares about who truly needs him. It's always been really hard for me to be motivated to do boring stuff when it's just for me but as soon as I am given a task for someone who can't do it on their own I am THERE I am washing the walls I am cooking the food I am picking up the dog poop. Having people you love depend on you just bypasses all that executive dysfunction.
he also already kind of knows how to take care of children through his little brother! it's more familiar to him to do things for a child than another adult/himself
Because there is a lot of song mentions in this video- samson is also the guy that the song hallelujah talks about "she broke your throne and cut your hair"
For 1:09:05, I think it is "just" war PTSD. He's been so accustomed to fighting and ambushes and never entirely letting his guard down, that even now he can't leave that mindset behind. He still sees enemies behind every tree, we know he still startles easily at loud noises too.
Love the new mic! The stickers on the clip on mic were so cute… but the OG microphone had a cozy, chatty feel to it. This is the best of both worlds! EDIT: And it sounds lovely! Thanks for another great video & congrats on hitting 20k :)
ok after video thoughts jodi is definitely a classic “boy mom” + a stay at home mom vibe. i think part of sam’s immaturity can come from being infantilized and constantly monitored by his mom. it creates this idea of sam not having total confidence in his identity bc she just either assumes he cant do anything and she does it for him, or she wants to “preserve his youth” by creating this idea that he will grow up too fast. but shes damaging him. and while she has this vague idea of awareness, she does nothing about it, no reflection past the thought (at least from what we see). she will always think of him as a kid, which is why he battles with this “immaturity” not to his fault. hes being both a father and a kid at the same time. i think fatherhood wheb you’re married gives sam an identity because he took that role growing up, both for vincent and to fill that role for his father. its an “identity” for him. its easy to fall into that role because its certain. its predictable. not like music, where he is unsure and needs prompting and guidance. i feel sad that kent doesnt get more development, i feel like there was a lot of potential to show healing in his relationship with his family and especially sam. it feels like this void that hasnt been filled and sam will always miss it. but i suppose that might be the reality for so many families of veterans. thats what i think hehe. i loved this analysis so much!!! you always make me like all the characters so much more
Sam has such a special place in my heart because he was the first bachelor I married when the game was released. I remember playing this game when I was in high school. I didn’t touch Stardew until my 2nd or 3rd year in college. And that’s when I met my now husband. And I didn’t put the pieces together that I married my own “Sam!” My husband has high functioning ADHD and a veteran father. And my husband is also a musician and yaps the way Sam does. The only real difference is that my husband is a drummer. It’s so funny how people don’t like Sam because he’s so “simple.” But I relate to your commentary about Sam, how he’s so sweet, optimistic, and a golden retriever puppy. It’s so funny when I look back when we were first dating, my boyfriend (now husband) at the time had a twin bed. And I would watch him play video games on his switch. I really love all the marriage candidates in the game, but Sam will always be special to me because I manifested my musical blonde Himbo in real life. :) ❤️
I’m sorry the Sebastian voice made me absolutely WHEEZE. Reminds me of NinoKito’s yandere Sebastian Batman voice 💀 one of the first things I added to my SDV mod was going into Sam’s heart event file and replacing the entire god damn egg scene with “null” lmaooooo get that out of my game immediately
They way I interpreted Sam acting like that after giving him the bouquet as him not getting the hint. I myself didn't realize I was dating the person who is now my partner for like... two months?
I love Sam, hes my favourite character in stardew, Ive never been able to make sense of my thoughts on him despite trying for years, and Its so nice to see an actual analysis of Sam and not have him be brushed off as boring or immature Im also happy Im not the only one losing their mind over the "I only play guitar when Im lonely" line paired with the fact that he plays guitar everyday
I always thought of his hair as like the 2000s older brother version of a wolf cut / overgrown liberty spikes! and just ties back the back bits when he goes to the beach lol
This may be my favourite and most personally important video in this series yet. As a fellow ADHD brain who's been infantilised while simultaneously being told to grow up, it was a challenge to not cry through a lot of this and ilmy newfound respect for Sam has also brought up a newfound respect for myself. Thank you for starting this series and seeing it through, I'm proud of you and all the Sams are too ^-^
Fiona, I literally started playing Stardew because of you. as a result, I hear your voice for every character you've done a deep dive on so far 😂 it's so funny.
Clicked so so fast. I love this series - it makes me feel like I’m immersed in stardew again from a fresh perspective 💛 I’m living in their world again like it’s the first time
1:52:07 Shane’s blushing portrait is fucking precious. Sebastian’s blushing portrait, however, makes *me* blush. I can’t cope with it. That little half smile??? STOP IT I will literally vaporize
sebastians blushing portrait makes me giggle and kick my feet but the one that really gets me is the one where his eyebrows knit together and he looks up slightly i really gotta pause and hold my head in my hands every time he hits me with it its so fucking cute

im so glad these videos got so much traction, your research and scripts are so well done and i love reading all the comments excited to watch the videos!
jodi actually has some dialogue where she talks about regretting having her kids, something along the lines of “if I could go back, I don’t know if I’d choose to have children. Don’t get me wrong, I love Sam and Vincent, but I didn’t see my life turning out like this”. If someone else can confirm that they’ve also seen this dialogue, that would be awesome. I just remember her saying it a lot when I watched Gab Smolders play Stardew Valley. It makes me very sad for her because I think it’s a sentiment a lot of women probably feel but don’t end up voicing because they feel guilty.
Yay Sam video!! Less than two minutes in and the mic is sounding smooooooth imo Editing to add that I love when you reference someone and then bring up their printed-out portrait, I think it’s very funny and good
Thank you for doing Sam justice, he is such a good character and my favorite bachelor. To answer your thoughts about the bass quote in the eight heart event- you can use an octave pedal on an electric guitar to play lower, that is how the White Stripes did the bass line in Seven Nation Army. So Sam could be playing both parts. And I‘m with you, I blush during the 10 heart scene. Every. Time.
I am going to be completely honest to everyone in this chat (because I feel comfortable enough with you all and my anonymity behind the screen), I must confess: I am the biggest Sam stan now because of the copious amounts of Sam-centered fanfics I have very recently read. Phew that feels good to say out loud, thanks everyone
There’s a mod that gives him what I think is a much more attractive proper mullet. It’s called “Sam with a mullet” or something like that lol on nexus mods. There’s also a really good marriage dialogue expansion for him hehehe it’s kinda spicyyyyy
I’m so excited, right before work I see this beauty of a video.. 2 & half hours about the most underrated character in stardew valley. ITS WHAT HE DESERVES!!!! I can’t wait to watch it fully. Thank you!
A new video! I wanna say, because of you I gave Stardew Valley a second chance and have been really enjoying myself. Thank you! Hope to sit down and watch this one this evening :)
Omfg you actually mention RSD being part of ADHD. I am so glad more people are becoming aware of it because there's so many people that struggle and don't know or understand why. My RSD due to my CPTSD has caused me to have psychotic breaks a few times because the feeling of rejection is so overwhelming. I describe it being kind of like a tsunami, when the water pulls away from the beach before the titanic wave comes crashing down to drown everything, but it's inside me. Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this!!!❤
In my most recent stardew game I started taking him a bit more seriously (i barely interacted with him in previous games, due to the hair oops) and realized what a cool guy he is! Excited to watch this and learn even more!
I remember in my first playthrough I did all of Sam's heart events (8 hearts, no bouquet bc im indecisive) and the first thought I had afterwards was "He's fine" and then I romanced Elliot instead. Like damn. Sam has bestie vibes, sorry bro.
The way I did the opposite 😭 I ended up feeling like Elliot was too…well…foppish for me 😂 I read about Sam’s heart events and it made me look at him differently…and so I totally switched to Sam. His 10 heart event made me 😳
I took so much psychic damage watching this video. I actually had to pause a few times just because it hit a little too hard in ways I was never expecting. This has completely changed my perspective on Sam, and you did it all by rigorously examining the text in front of you. Truly incredible work.
The skateboard scene where Sam calls Lewis sir didn't give me the "switching to a child persona" kind of vibe, I thought he'd call him sir because he might be used to it growing up with a military parent and all. I've seen fathers do that - as in making their children call them sir. I dunno, I feel like that could have something to do with it. Edit: I just got to the Jodi dinner scene in my current save (where you bring her a fresh fish for a casserole) and when Sam is called he says "yes ma'am" which supports my theory
Been looking for new Sam content for AGES. so stoked to watch this!! Love my sunshine boy. ❤ I love how open he is up front; he's the only bachelor I would date in real life. Just found you, and you make me laugh!! Subscribed.
I so like to see you light up more and more every video every time you are more and more relaxed and exited and less reserved, it so show how you actually passionate about you chanel. It energises me a lot, love your videos
Literally obsessed with this series!! Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before
i dont think Sam has any kind of internalized homophobia, he's just not as good at.. well, friend-girls. one of his help board requests says "I would like a cute girl to bring me [item]. (^_-)" and from most male player's testimonies (my own included,) he will say "I need [item] for a project I'm working on" instead. he says you and Sebastian are his only friends, so he's probably so used to talking dudebro stuff with Sebby, and Abigail hardly counts as a girl. as for Penny, Sebastian says after marriage that he could see Sam settling down with Penny. like you said, lots of the marriage candidates don't acknowledge that you're dating after a bouquet, so I think the female dialogue is meant to be an awkward attempt at being nice or maybe flirting while the male option is a lot more relaxed because he knows just what to say. also, on the topic of his unrealistic kissing animation, I have bad joint and back pain and always bend my knees inward to lean. perhaps it's just more comfortable.
I think in a way, Sam saying that not learning about change can ruin someone's adulthood because he didn't get to change because of his mom and dad. He was infantilized for a long time and knows he's lacking in some ways now that he's an adult. If the player didn't come along and give him the acknowledgement and room to change himself, he would have lived forever under his parents house as a ruined man-child. That's the impression I get from that comment anyway, and he hopes that he can impart some of that onto Vincent. PS: Sam's sprites are so inconsistent with his eyes hahaha! At ease in the portrait, they're grey, when he's surprised in the portrait they're blue, and his overworld sprite they're green. xD
My read of the Mayor Lewis interaction is that Sam has probably been raised in a militaristic home... Kent is almost certainly one of those "yes sir" dads (or was before the war got to him). I mean, he wears his army jacket around ffs. So Sam probably has a fear of authority, whether Mayor Lewis (almost typed "Major Lewis", lul) can punish him or not. Another thing about growing up in a home where the parents kind of feign perfectionism, it's super high stress for everyone involved (totally not speaking from experience here 😅 ). Everyone, from the spouse of the perfectionist to the children, live on pins and needles to accommodate the perfectionist / control freak, even when they aren't present. This probably contributes to why Sam is 1) so juvenile and 2) so indecisive. 1) Kids in these homes are seen as a disturbance waiting to happen. They are not trusted. They are always treated as children: a risk to be managed for a parent like Jodi. (OMFG, DID SOMEONE DROP AN EGG?!?!). These kids learn two skills: how to conform to the rules; how to cover up or hide the parts of themselves that don't conform to the rules. Sam wasn't allowed to have a childhood, nor was he trusted to grow into a responsible adult (the good news being that he is aware of this and concerned about the same thing happening to Vincent). 2) Kids in these homes develop an external point-of-reference. They are constantly living under the shadow of "what would my parents / others want me to do?" which I think contributes to his indecision. Don't get me wrong, I love your tie-in with ADHD and "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" and I think it's spot-on. But I think the family dynamic and Sam's lack of an internal point-of-reference make decision-making and adulting exceptionally hard for him. Thanks for reading my TEDtext
Your second point makes sense. I have more ADHD and autism symptoms than people I know diagnosed with the disorders, but I was not diagnosed with them due to environmental factors growing up. I was diagnosed with PTSD and dissociative disorder. I struggled with a mix of helicopter parenting and neglect, like my mother seeing us an hour a day when we were 7 and 8. Too much is put into identity these days, especially in fandoms.
Sam is so underrated! I wrote him off at first because I was basic and chose Seb at first but Sam really grew on me over time and is one of my fav bachelors now. Thank you for all the care you put into his vid
Really enjoyed hearing your Sam perspective! The main thing that I would add is that, while we don't get any direct references to this in the game's text that I'm aware of, I think Sam probably gravitates toward Sebastian because Sebastian is likely the type of person who WOULD fill the same role that the player filled in Sam's 6 heart event. Where Sam stumbles over his words and doesn't know how to stand up for himself, Sebastian would look at that situation and go "Maybe he wouldn't skate here if you were a better mayor and gave the youth a park to do things in. :/" And even if he wouldn't directly intervene, Sam probably still sees that ability to stand up for himself that Sebastian has, and subconsciously is drawn to him because of it. The difference between his pre-marriage breakup dialogue vs his divorce dialogue might reflect Sam's growth as a person along with all the things you said: in the breakup dialogue, he's still burying his feelings and pretending it's okay like he learned from his parents. Even though it will hurt him, he'll stay friends with you because it keeps the peace and maintains a semblance of normalcy. In his divorce dialogue, he's grown enough to acknowledge his own needs and knows that it will hurt him too much to stay friends, and it's okay to set that boundary. Also, his line about "life is all about change, right?" might be the way he's learned to cope with Kent coming home as such a different person, too. He can accept that his father is "different and weird" because everything changes. He's the meme of the dog on the chair in the water with the text "it's going to be okay, but it's going to be different". Great video! Love this golden retriever of a man.

the fact that these deep dives get longer and longer over time makes me rejoice that shane is the last one in the series LMAO
“Let me know if I’m overthinking this…” Babe… that’s why we are here!!!!
Privacy is extremely important.
cant believe you didnt mention the winter outfit, he looks so good with that beanie
I think she was trying not to spoil 1.6, but he is so 🔥
Sam saying "I play guitar when I feel lonely" and then him playing guitar every day is the exact vibes that Skullgirls has when Umbrella is like "I eat Icecream when I'm sad" and her sister replies "But you eat icecream everyday?" LMAO
i am actually sam dude literally every single aspect of his character relates to mine, i can't wait to listen to a two and a half hours analysis of essentially just me

I’ll find something else to do.”
Long-winded example: I’m an intro/extrovert, and I have ADHD.
Okay, bye! Love your vids!
i LOVE sam’s hair because it’s always been a mullet to me and i love mullets (i have a mullet)
Having people you love depend on you just bypasses all that executive dysfunction.
he also already kind of knows how to take care of children through his little brother! it's more familiar to him to do things for a child than another adult/himself
sam's sprite looks like he's got a banana strapped to the side of his face😭😭
hahahaha
You upload this the DAY i reach the summit on my sam playthrough… omg
(I’m working through a Haley playthrough dw)
Because there is a lot of song mentions in this video- samson is also the guy that the song hallelujah talks about "she broke your throne and cut your hair"
interesting!! gotta relisten now thinking about sam i mean samson
For 1:09:05, I think it is "just" war PTSD. He's been so accustomed to fighting and ambushes and never entirely letting his guard down, that even now he can't leave that mindset behind. He still sees enemies behind every tree, we know he still startles easily at loud noises too.
One video closer to my beloved Sebastian *rubs hands together maniacally
Sam's so cute though. It's tempting to get with him next time I play...
Love the new mic! The stickers on the clip on mic were so cute… but the OG microphone had a cozy, chatty feel to it. This is the best of both worlds!
EDIT:
And it sounds lovely! Thanks for another great video & congrats on hitting 20k :)
ok after video thoughts
jodi is definitely a classic “boy mom” + a stay at home mom vibe. i think part of sam’s immaturity can come from being infantilized and constantly monitored by his mom. it creates this idea of sam not having total confidence in his identity bc she just either assumes he cant do anything and she does it for him, or she wants to “preserve his youth” by creating this idea that he will grow up too fast. but shes damaging him. and while she has this vague idea of awareness, she does nothing about it, no reflection past the thought (at least from what we see). she will always think of him as a kid, which is why he battles with this “immaturity” not to his fault. hes being both a father and a kid at the same time. i think fatherhood wheb you’re married gives sam an identity because he took that role growing up, both for vincent and to fill that role for his father. its an “identity” for him. its easy to fall into that role because its certain. its predictable. not like music, where he is unsure and needs prompting and guidance.
i feel sad that kent doesnt get more development, i feel like there was a lot of potential to show healing in his relationship with his family and especially sam. it feels like this void that hasnt been filled and sam will always miss it. but i suppose that might be the reality for so many families of veterans.
thats what i think hehe. i loved this analysis so much!!! you always make me like all the characters so much more
Sam has such a special place in my heart because he was the first bachelor I married when the game was released. I remember playing this game when I was in high school.
I didn’t touch Stardew until my 2nd or 3rd year in college. And that’s when I met my now husband. And I didn’t put the pieces together that I married my own “Sam!”
My husband has high functioning ADHD and a veteran father. And my husband is also a musician and yaps the way Sam does. The only real difference is that my husband is a drummer. It’s so funny how people don’t like Sam because he’s so “simple.”
But I relate to your commentary about Sam, how he’s so sweet, optimistic, and a golden retriever puppy.
Reminds me of NinoKito’s yandere Sebastian Batman voice 💀
one of the first things I added to my SDV mod was going into Sam’s heart event file and replacing the entire god damn egg scene with “null” lmaooooo
get that out of my game immediately
PAM VS WILLY IN A FIGHT? I CANT BREATHE. FIONA AHAAHAHAH
I thought of Nino's Sebastian voice too 😂
They way I interpreted Sam acting like that after giving him the bouquet as him not getting the hint. I myself didn't realize I was dating the person who is now my partner for like... two months?
the “me at my wedding vs me at *insert thing here*” meme of the guy in casual clothes vs the suit is me when the Sebastian video drops
I love my man Sam, 'cuz he is like a little ray of sunshine, and sometimes you just need someone like this ❤
I love Sam, hes my favourite character in stardew, Ive never been able to make sense of my thoughts on him despite trying for years, and Its so nice to see an actual analysis of Sam and not have him be brushed off as boring or immature
Im also happy Im not the only one losing their mind over the "I only play guitar when Im lonely" line paired with the fact that he plays guitar everyday
I always thought of his hair as like the 2000s older brother version of a wolf cut / overgrown liberty spikes! and just ties back the back bits when he goes to the beach lol
fiona sangster character deep dives untangling my personal issues all the sudden. my therapist WILL be hearing about this , FIONA!!!!!!!!!!!!
This may be my favourite and most personally important video in this series yet. As a fellow ADHD brain who's been infantilised while simultaneously being told to grow up, it was a challenge to not cry through a lot of this and ilmy newfound respect for Sam has also brought up a newfound respect for myself. Thank you for starting this series and seeing it through, I'm proud of you and all the Sams are too ^-^
I was not expecting to be softly weeping at a Sam deep dive

Is this your first sponsor? Congrats! You're doing great!! I hope you continue making SDV videos after the spouses deep dives are done. :)
FIONA IS FEEDING US IM SO EXCITED
1:52:07 Shane’s blushing portrait is fucking precious. Sebastian’s blushing portrait, however, makes *me* blush. I can’t cope with it. That little half smile??? STOP IT I will literally vaporize
sebastians blushing portrait makes me giggle and kick my feet but the one that really gets me is the one where his eyebrows knit together and he looks up slightly i really gotta pause and hold my head in my hands every time he hits me with it its so fucking cute

sam was the first person I married, I just loved how responsible he was with his brother it was so cute
im so glad these videos got so much traction, your research and scripts are so well done and i love reading all the comments excited to watch the videos!
jodi actually has some dialogue where she talks about regretting having her kids, something along the lines of “if I could go back, I don’t know if I’d choose to have children.
THIS HAIRSTYLE IS SO CUTE ON YOU, FIONA!!
THANK U
2.5 hours does not feel long enough I could listen to this for DAYYSSSS
hold on babes i need to get my tea ready
Fiona is literally the funniest person I’ve watched so far- their commentary, jokes, memes, I love it all
don’t cry over spilt egg ❤️
Yay Sam video!! Less than two minutes in and the mic is sounding smooooooth imo
Editing to add that I love when you reference someone and then bring up their printed-out portrait, I think it’s very funny and good
a 2 hour deep dive into sam is exactly what I've needed he's so underrated 💔💔
Sam would be my go-to boyfriend every time if he didn’t have that ATROCIOUS haircut 😭
There’s a mod that gives him what I think is a much more attractive proper mullet. It’s called “Sam with a mullet” or something like that lol on nexus mods. There’s also a really good marriage dialogue expansion for him hehehe it’s kinda spicyyyyy
@@kendra4932 Huge revelation. Now I just need to buy Stardew on even more platforms. And I will happily. CA deserves all my money XD
Did not expect a two and a half hour long Sam video essay to make me cry today. I love him sm,it’s a problem
Thanks Fiona, I will now watch this video 2 times uninterrupted and will form my day around this! U made my day
heheheheh ur welcome
I remember in my first playthrough I did all of Sam's heart events (8 hearts, no bouquet bc im indecisive) and the first thought I had afterwards was
"He's fine" and then I romanced Elliot instead. Like damn. Sam has bestie vibes, sorry bro.
The way I did the opposite 😭 I ended up feeling like Elliot was too…well…foppish for me 😂 I read about Sam’s heart events and it made me look at him differently…and so I totally switched to Sam. His 10 heart event made me 😳
the sponsor was so sweet 🥺 the cave pics

Sam and Sebastian need to learn the joys of parallel play
what is that? i think i get the gist but not 100%
I am a sam lover at heart but still cant believe i sat through the whole like 2 hours of this video 😭 I love your videos!
jumping with joy rn
I actually love Sam's hair so much, I picture it as a mullet with punk liberty spikes on the top--pretty tall but not full on Vegeta.
Been looking for new Sam content for AGES. so stoked to watch this!! Love my sunshine boy. ❤ I love how open he is up front; he's the only bachelor I would date in real life.

8:29 If you look at his sprite, they’re actually emerald green! So with his portrait, I’d say greyish green for his eyes?
NEW FIONA DEEP DIVE!!!!
(^_-)" and from most male player's testimonies (my own included,) he will say "I need [item] for a project I'm working on" instead. he says you and Sebastian are his only friends, so he's probably so used to talking dudebro stuff with Sebby, and Abigail hardly counts as a girl. as for Penny, Sebastian says after marriage that he could see Sam settling down with Penny. like you said, lots of the marriage candidates don't acknowledge that you're dating after a bouquet, so I think the female dialogue is meant to be an awkward attempt at being nice or maybe flirting while the male option is a lot more relaxed because he knows just what to say.
also, on the topic of his unrealistic kissing animation, I have bad joint and back pain and always bend my knees inward to lean. perhaps it's just more comfortable.
i've been waiting for the sam video, he's my favorite lil guy
I think in a way, Sam saying that not learning about change can ruin someone's adulthood because he didn't get to change because of his mom and dad. He was infantilized for a long time and knows he's lacking in some ways now that he's an adult. If the player didn't come along and give him the acknowledgement and room to change himself, he would have lived forever under his parents house as a ruined man-child.
That's the impression I get from that comment anyway, and he hopes that he can impart some of that onto Vincent.
PS: Sam's sprites are so inconsistent with his eyes hahaha! At ease in the portrait, they're grey, when he's surprised in the portrait they're blue, and his overworld sprite they're green. xD
i'm so excited for my husbands episode!! as always, i love your videos so much!! (* >ω
CONGRATS YAYYYYYYY
I was so excited for the Sam video bc he's been my favourite even before I got stardew 😭💕
Fiona you’re THE best! A new stardew deep dive is just what I needed to cheer up a little! ❤
Sam will always be my favorite bachelor, thanks for spreading some love and awareness of how of a nice character he is, your deep dives never fail
