Today I also ordered this cue with mini butt, extension and case 😊 It’s the first cue I got for myself.. Playing snooker for years with the Sheradan cue from my brother (he died in 2016) and he was a top 16 player in the 90-ties. Now I am a member of a private snooker club with 3 tables.
Nothing nicer than a plain ebony cue. I have a custom Jason Owen specced for English pool and I settled on a white numbered badge which contrasts lovely against the black ebony. My ebony's somewhat similar to yours; it's got a lot of brown streaks and flecks in it, which I love. Hope it treats you well!
Thanks pal. Sounds like you have a nice Jason Owen bat there. Quality cues. I love a classic plain ebony cue. You find the jet black ones tend to be dyed. Natural ebony will always have a slight brown hue to them
i used to love splices but now i detest them ,sold my maximus prime because the butt bothered me and i couldnt get past it 😂😂 ...plain ebony or maybe one splice "ronnie" style is as far as i would go now
@@CueBald yeah its amazing how many cheap cues have completely solid black "ebony" ...first maximus i had was very brown looking back it was beautiful but at the time i expected jet black and i was gutted
@@Gbonejohn1974 My first quality-made cue was a Peradon custom back in 2020. Although I do prefer plain ebony, it has a gorgeous, deep-red padauk face splice with a thick sycamore veneer.
Yepp i have a VR 222 Super Killer, brilliant cue, tried parris and maximus on test, but this one just felt great. Excellent shaft, beautifull splicing, best cue i ever had. Dont think im ever going to change🙂
What was the selection process. I’m looking at their price list but what does all the cue types and splice types mean exactly. Am i supposed to design the cue ??
Hi Shane. Do you have a design in mind? I just asked them for a plain ebony and they quoted based off that. So if you know what design you like just ask them and they will give you a price.
Great informative video many thanks. You mentioned the chevrons! Do you play with the chevrons showing? Do you feel or find they help to cue straighter.. Do you play with the flat part of the cue butt facing down or up?? Do you think either makes any difference? Thanks again
@kevinkeegan7211 Thabks for the comment. I play with the chevrons in my line of sight always. This means the flat of the butt end is facing up. I feel it helps with the line of aim, not necessary help cue straighter
like i said before to you im amazed they dont get more love in the Uk .......mine compared to a similar spec maximus is better finished and feels better in play at a lot less money ,when mine arrived i went to craftsman and tried every 5-800 quid cue they had and none were as good ....the quality of the wood ,the finish and the turnaround time and communication is second to none ,i pissed about with my specs about 30x and they never bothered just did exactly what i asked for .......like i say genuinely amazed more people dont use them .
That's all personal preference I'm afraid depending if you like the weight more to the front or more to the back end. Mines balanced at 18 inches and is nicely balanced
These Thai cues seem to be second to none...I have ordered a GBL top end cue from Green Baize.I normally order English made cues..but these seem to be far superior and for a very competitive price for what you get....These put UK cues to shame
Which GLB cue did you get? I have just purchased a GLB special cue and it’s good but I think it could have been better, i think maybe should upgrade to a vanquish but not sure.
Very nice cue! I just started getting into pool and snooker and bought myself a GBL cue which is great but eventually I'd like to get a 1 piece for each game. When you requested the titanium ferrule, was it a CC one? I know Stu at Green Baize recommends them and not other titanium ferrules.
@@CueBald That's great news, thanks for the response! I will definitely be reaching out to them via FB when I decide to get a more personalised cue. Good luck with your playing!
@AHL77777 dead easy to deal with. Tell them your specs and they'll send you pics of the progress. Takes approx 4-6 weeks. Delivery is so quick. 2-3 days to UK
Absolute Bargain. The same package at GBL it'll cost ya £700 easy. I'd say it's same if not slightly better quality and finish to my Maximus Ultimate. I've put a link to Facebook in the description of this video. Message them directly. You pay a deposit and the balance on completion. They keep in regular contact during the making of the cue giving you picture updates etc. Very good customer service.
My guess is these will double in value once they get the reputation they deserve. I paid 540 for my Maximus Ultimate and in 2 years the RRP has gone up to £850
yes no money to be lost here if you don't take to the cue long term! I have messaged ton praram directly as you did but they did not come back to me as yet. At this price my head has been turned! I'll message them through facebook and hope to land a similar deal, thanks for your reply@@CueBald
The last arrow seems to be out of alignment. What's the finishing quality as compared to the maximus ultimate overall? I've heard maximus is the best in the business. And you ever happened to try any parris cue?
Nah the arrows are perfect. Must be the angle of the camera. I'd say it's better quality than my Maximus. Not much in it though. Parris cues are inferior to top quality Thai cues in my option. I know a few people who have them and the quality and finishing is not as good. You're just paying for the name unfortunately.
@@CueBaldalmost exactly what i have heard about Parris cues, i know someone who ordered customized Parris cues twice and was not happy with them, another one ought john Parris traditional and told me to stay away from them xD. I've played with life cues and they are pretty solid, never tried maximus or VR tho.
People talk a lot about different cue makers and it always make me laugh as all cues are different and they always will be as each piece of wood can never be the same . My maximus is nice the shaft is firmer and cost around £350 but the best cue I ever had was made in the early 90s a great barrcuda kirkham I think it cost then about £140 they made some very nice cues
Nice cue there mate, but I spat my beer out when you stipulated exactly seven chevrons. Lucky number or something? I don't even use them to line up shots. Of course everyone can suit themselves. Happy potting!
I have OCD I guess 🤣. I dislike cues with loads of chevrons. I like it to look aesthetically pleasing and 7 seems a nice number. I'll let you know if it's lucky in a few months time hahaha
Just about to make my order on VR fb page, after being scammed before on fb I’m a little anxious. How did you pay (PayPal product and service?) and was then any order confirmation? Or postage tracking? Lovely looking cue man, excited to get mine!
