I'm 37, I use to DJ using vinyls on a pair of Vestax turntables however stopped when my kids were born as had no space to keep them. Over lockdown I have been watching a lot of videos on the DDJ400 and am amazed at how the technology has progressed since I last DJed. I'm on the verge of convincing myself to buy this controller and your vids are very informative and honest. Don't know how much longer I can resist the urge.......
@@willanderson7466 Hi mate, if you do buy one I just got one off Urban Outiftters for £224. Free next day delivery. When you sign up to their mail list they give you 10 percent off. couldn’t find anywhere cheaper.
Not an effect trick, but something I didn't know until very recently was the Shift+Jog wheel activates quick search and you can scroll quickly through your track. I felt kinda dumb when I found out that was a thing 😂
The Release FX and the Active Loop tip were mindblowing new to me! I play and try around alot with my ddj-400, but those two i didnt discover yet! but they're SOOOO damn helpful! THX!
I had no idea about the SoundFx Lock... by switching over... I thought it had to be set to hold in the settings... Nice little trick I am going to work on getting use to it later. I really like the DDJ-400, but I really want to start working with a 4 Channel for multiple track mixes, but the price jump from a DDJ-400 to another Decent Rekordbox Controller 4 channel controller is priccccey. Great video Saved it for my DJ Guides Much appreciate your videos. Great stuff.... Shift Echo toooo.... Sheeeesh Thanks again mate.
I didn’t know the Last tip, releasing fx Can be acting with shift button. Now it has become so much easier to make it sounds better when transitioning . thank you Crossfader❤️
Kinda takes the fun out of it pre planning that far ahead , dont mind planning but i still like to use my loops myself tbf. Still a great tool if you have a very busy creative set going on tho i suppose
I knew about most of them but your explanation of the Release EFX was helpful, thank you! I had a question though, up top in Rekordbox you had the 4 efx in the bank, (Echo, Phaser, Spiral, Vinyl Break) Is there a way to have them all on at the same time? Almost like a multi efx, being controlled all together by the blue button?
just started setting markers during the track... and had to activate repeat loop manually... thank you for showing i can just activate it ahead of time... :D
I actually discovered more tricks with the DDJ-400 in the past 2 years that I have had mine DDJ-400 that hasn't been featured yet on this channel. Would love to share them so everyone can have fun with it. How do I get in touch?
I touched a button by accident and my sound wave is missing while the music is playing but my bpm read 0 while playing and i have never seen before please help. Thanks an advance @crossfader
Sidenote, what laptop would you recommend for a large collection of music and best quality for music sound, and it will be used for the 400 and for music only, thaxxx buddy
Didn't know about parameter buttons, didn't know you could do the active loop via controller, didn't know you could hold multiple pad FX, didn't know about release FX, thanks!
Great review. I am trying to buy this pioneer DDJ-400 model. Write me in the feedback if the Recordbox on which you made this movie is added to this controller model? HAPPY NEW YEAR
The shift brake, echo... The last part... I didn't know it could do any of this... I was thinking of how to get those FX sounds out of the ddj... Thank you 👍🏿👍🏿
The active loop tip answered a nagging question I’d had about setting active loops ahead of time using the controller, but most of the other tips were new too (I got my DDJ-400 yesterday!)
I did have to figure parts of these on my own, but the deeper uses like release FX stopping normal FX are huge and unintuitive. Something else! As I noticed, the jog wheels use touch capacitance. It turns out that turning the outside of the wheel without using the top flat part will do fine tuning of your song position!
I’m interested in your classes what do they cost to get what one would need to have a good enough idea of equipment like this, I currently just have numark party mix, but I don’t want a mix that much I want to actually create my own beats
03:46 my hot cues and other pads are displayed on screen like A E B F D G D H In the video they correspond to the physical buttons on the controller: A B C D E F G H How can I change this, in order to have it displayed like this? One remark about the active loop : be aware you can only have one active loop 'active'. So if you want to make use of two active loops, you need to manually set it on the second one after the first one has finished
I do have a quesiton. I've used a bit my DDJ-400 for the last 6 months and I've noticed something that I still haven't quite realized. When I go to the FX Pads I can play different fx, whether they're default or not. But when I use Shift + any FX on the pad it plays some fx that are not shown (try it yourself, and you'll see). So my question is, what are those fx and, if possible, how can i change them to some other fx? Hope someone could help me. thank u
I own ddj 400 and I saw somewhere here in TH-cam before, he make color yellow memory cue instead of color red. And now I wonder how he do that, because now I try searching for that video and can't find it anymore. My guess also is that video comes from here, but you have bunch of videos already too tired to search for it 😅

It's a great controller for just about everything you'll ever need. Just keep in mind there's only one RCA output, no booth etc
It’s £250 in Argos
@@-M0LE yes, I saw......very tempting.
