I'm 57 y.o who discovered BTS in 2020. Jin's Epiphany pulled me in, opened my eyes to self-love, and liberated my self-victimization thoughts. It's been 3 years and I have never stopped consuming BTS content, still hungry for more. They are the most amazing human beings I've ever known my entire life, and Army is the 2nd. Thank you for creating BTS reactions, I've watched all your reactions and I like your insights. More power!

My daughter and I went to the Suga concert in Chicago and the ARMYs were amazing. They passed out photos of Suga, water, sandwiches and more to those of us waiting in line for merch. It makes me so proud to be part of the BTS ARMY. My daughter was amazed at how nice everyone was. I am slowly converting her to an ARMY😍💜

thank you for your reaction, it was on the news in new york last week and chicago this morning that the fandom that attended suga's concert camped out 24 hours before the doors opened, were respectful, calm and patient and did not make a mess at the venues. they showed from the air the long lines of people and groups of people dancing. i was proud and am proud to be a part of this movement of 'positive energy' that the 7 members of '''bts''' have created through music.💜

Like you, I would never expect to becoming "fan" of a boy group from South Korea, few years ago. (or any other group) . But here I am, 59 years old, so proud to be Army, and so connected with these 7 amazing artists and human beings, who are now part of my daily life and family ! They make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me vibing with the music all day, they make me reflect on myself and try to be better, they help me not to give up to my passion and my life... they are my light in the darkness and my happyness in this rude world. And it's so heartwarming to know that with other Army , "we never walk alone".

I will never forget the first time I went to see a Bts concert in cinema a few months ago. I never had a chance to go to one of their concerts but I was shocked to see army at the theatre giving free stuff and treating me and my sisters like family. Army made me feel less nervous and made me not be self cautious of being made fun of for going to watch bts in theatres. An army there knew that my bias was Jin and encouraged me to cry as Jin sung his heart out. Army is amazing.

I have known BTS from the start. And I'm from Norway. The first time I saw ARMYS doing something different was from one of their earliest concerts. Someone made a video of the queue and how organised they were even back then. And alongside the queue some ARMYS hade set up a table and selling used items like a thrift shop or something, and all income went to a good cause. I have never seen that or heard about that anywhere else. And this I guess was around 2013/2014. And doing good has just increased tenfolds since then among ARMYS. I even know about ARMYS who has saved lives around the world especially when it comes to mental health. How can you not love and be a proud member of this fandom 💜

Attention ARMY! While this video still stands true, recently we have been having some inner problems with weird af live comments, and generally just more disrespectful towards the members. Jungkook has had to ask "fans" twice now to be treated with basic human decency.
And RM, V, and JK have either called out ARMY for having changed(in a bad way) or altogether stopped reading the comments.
I think it's time for a new ARMY cleanse, so anyone that sees this(or is already aware) I encourage people to spread this.

How does ARMY do this? These comments are getting tiring and the endless shipping that seems to be so much a part of the fan videos and posts overshadows what this video describes. It would be nice for fans to let the members have a life. J-Hope mentioned he knows it is a lonely life and that things that are normal to others are not normal to them. I get that there is a trade-off for fame, but the shipping between members so that they can't go out in public and do healthy things with friends is troubling.

    • @kunilsen2519
      @kunilsen2519 ปีที่แล้ว +20

@@maryr1905 My god, the shipping is straight-up disturbing!
I like "ship videos" including moments between members, and I do not watch them for an imaginary narrative to fulfill delusional fans' fantasies. I just want some wholesome, not edited weirdly, cute/funny interactions that showcase their different dynamics. And I hate when I watch those wholesome videos, my recommendations gets filled with shipping videos and dating rumors! I don't care!
I don't care if people believe any ship or rumor is right, I don't care if they are right, and I don't care if they are wrong. They have nothing to do with the member's romantic life. Keep it to yourself, or at least write or read fanfictions if you really need an outlet.
Don't make videos about it, don't comment about your inappropriate theories, don't sexualize their relationships, and for the love of god, don't go to the members about it.
They aren't a religion where you can believe what you want and everyone else has to respect it and must be blind if they don't see what you see.
They are real people and should be treated as such. Fans have nothing to do with members' personal life.
      ...
I'm sorry, I think you triggered something in me lol

@@BTSISMYHAPPYPLACE4VER ARMy has had attacks from other fandoms before... But BTS has had an increase in new fans in those last years, and with some comments being acknowledged when they are weird/flirty, I can see a correlation. Not saying it's the members' fault! BTS should be able to joke with ARMY without it having bad consequences.
But if this(the weird comments) is just other fandoms fucking with us, it's really maddening and pathetic.
I can't even imagine how we would prove it, and how to comeback it if that is the case...

@@kunilsen2519 I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I go back to how uncomfortable they clearly were on Ellen with the kind of inappropriate questions she asked. That isn't fun. Why create awkwardness by shipping different members and then arguing about it. No wonder friends going to a movie premier is something that becomes awkward and stressful rather than fun. Single people do things with friends. It is unhealthy to sit at home alone and it also isn't fun to go out on your own. I'd also be concerned about them having to go into the military with all of this being pushed on them within the fandom. Doesn't seem wise and people who continue to push this shipping stuff could be harming the members.

I am 52. Of course, I knew who BTS was because of my teenage daughter. She never followed them as she was a directioner. I came across them again late last year when I was going through a very stressful time. Although I couldn't understand a word of their lyrics, the music alone resonated with me, and I searched for more of their music. It wasn't he live. It was the live version of The Truth Untold that hooked me in and sent me down the rabbit hole that is the BTS fandom. My children (who are adults now) think I am crazy but I proudly flaunt my addiction. These boys create music that resonates with people. They have remained humble and fully appreciate what they have achieved. I regret having not been army before now as there will be a massive chasm left by their military service but I truly believe they will return and scale even bigger heights. Love you BTS.

If I ever had the fortune of seeing a BTS member in public, while they are on their private schedule I would try my hardest not to put any attention on them and not to show any reaction on my part. If they would see me I would probably give a little Korean finger heart just to acknowledge them but only if the situation allowed it. I would not want to be a the reason BTS had a bad vacation, trip or a hard time going about their every day life.

Fun, natural interactions that were respectful and not over the top that V enjoyed.

Just imagine going to their gigantic concerts with an infant or a senior citizen, and not feeling afraid about their safety, that is the difference between BTS and other artists.
The sense of security and camaraderie between strangers during a BTS concert is insane. When I went to the concert with my partner's elderly parents and a 2 year old baby, was so comfortable. We went there empty handed and came home with tons of loot bags, a few handmade toys and keychains and snacks(which made my baby a happy tot), also tshirts and handkerchiefs that the fans printed and sewed themselves, scarves they knitted themselves etc.,
And it's the same during cons and premieres for thei documentaries etc., When fandoms organize birthday celebrations for a member in certain locations like local cafe's etc., Even if you were just passing by and do not know BTS, they will share out freebies and loot bags happily.
They are also so organized and behaved during these mini-events they organize and they make sure not to bother businesses or cause traffic.
It's insane, how extremely disciplined the ARMYs are and mindful in general. And like the video said the toxic "fans" you meet online would, 90% of the time, always be not actual fans, but alternate accounts created by haters and antis to spread hate and frame blame to the fandom.
I've never been proud being in the same fandom, even though I may not be as die-hard as to spend thousands of my hard-earned money just to support BTS and buy merch and albums or whatnot...
Just the fact that ARMY changed the fandom culture both internationally and within kpop is insane. But all that is thanks to the fact that BTS never starved the fans with interactions and content. Especially how they always think of us first in their every success, in an industry where it's easy to develop a capitalistic mindset.
BTS and ARMY are the best symbiotic relationship that's ever existed in the entertainment industry. Period!

looking from outside the fandom (I've been there! judging armys without knowing anything about army and bts) it is quite difficult to grasp why we as armys are so dedicated to these guys. but once you opened up, listen to their music and their message, you'll just get it. and here's the catch: idk how but lots of time, bts' music find you when you need it the most. I thought it was an overdramatic fandom thing, an exaggeration, but no. it happened to me. and i was so so thankful for their music and encouraging message, i want to pay them back by supporting them.

I became an army when I was 12 y/o, I'm 20 now and going in my 8th year as an army so I can say I have a lot of baggage in this fandom 😅
One of the first things that left an impression on me in this fandom was this respectful side with the boys privacy. I remember in 2017 when BTS came to Brazil with The Wings Tour how there was absolutely NO ONE telling or trying to discover in which hotel they were staying to camp outside screaming at their windows, it really left an impact on me bc I was a directioner before and I remember that at every tour 1D did there were hundreds of fans camping in front of their hotels and I really thought that was the normal. Being an army since a very young age made me understand and see idols as human beings with emotions and not only products of the industry for our entertainment like a good amount of ppl see; BTS' message, philosophy and connection with the fans made me a better person overall and shaped me as who I am today.
As you said, we are a huge ass fandom so of course it will have some bad apples here and there but throughout this 8 years following this boys I can say that I'm really proud of being an ARMY, not only because of BTS, but because of this huge community/family we built and who does a lot of good things trying to better the world in the name of our boys ❤️

12:22 talking about that disgraceful reactor who shant be named: in the beginning when we 1st discovered his awful posts and his beliefs, did try to help him because he really does seem to be a fan but his beliefs are dangerous & went against everything BTS stand for. After we realized he wasn't interested in being accountable or trying to change, we gave up on him. But we continued going into his comment section to warn other ARMYs about him. I had to quit because it was affecting my mental health, i was spending most of my free, recharge time trying to convince him to change and to warn ARMYs. It was making me super sad to see ARMYs falling for his bs & continuing to defend him and not believe us or do their own research. I will say though, as much as we all dislike him, we were (most of us anyway) respectful & polite the whole time. Im 50 years old & have been in a lot of fandoms, and ive never seen anything quite like ARMY. The majority of ARMY are the kindest people ive ever met/seen. We're all doing our part to better ourselves and the world, in accordance with BTS' philosophy. I love it here & am proud to be a part of it. It's so frustrating that my friends who are around my age (irl) continue to make fun of me for it & refuse to even listen 😭 thats why i love good reactors, it feels like im sharing with a friend & i always meet awesome people in the comment section 💜 borahae 💜

I think people also need to remember that ARMY is soooo big that there are people from all sorts of backgrounds with cultures, religions, sex, how people think, etc. There are so many ARMY that have different perspectives. Sometimes the from a single ARMY to another they don't agree on some things, but the core is being considerate towards BTS, each other, and the community. Even myself I would say a lot of things that are my personal opinions I would say I am a minority in a lot of it (although I don't usually voice my opinions all the time because I am in the minority) but I do strive to see other people's perspectives, even if I might disagree on some things, and I do strive to respect each other and BTS and the world.
Also, about fandom etiquette there are some "rules" that have been released by weverse aka Hybe aka Bighit aka BTS (I think it has only been a few years since it was released though) but honestly, I personally didn't know about them until recently with the unfortunate private issues with RM and JK recently. However, despite not knowing them I knew from other ARMY not to do things and saw people being praised for doing the right thing that I kind of "knew" I guess you could say. I do think that the members are becoming much more vocal about it to the ssaengs (bad obsessive fans) which I am grateful because sometimes there is only so much ARMY can do to try and get people to not do things, sometimes it takes the artist to say something.

It's one thing as a band to be firstly beloved in the country you were conceived in, but nooo, that did not nearly happen to BTS, simply because of the fierce competition between KPop fandoms in SK. In my observation, I would say that a lot of that hate stemmed from regular weekly KPop voting shows for the last 10-20 years (e.g. MBC-Music), as well as the inundation & saturation of KPop labels & their many bands. In a small country. It's a dog-eat-dog world on which group can survive the longest & each fandom will do anything to keep their favorite bands alive, which includes trying to shut down other groups. That is where KPop fan wars come from, because of this crowded space, not to mention the subliminal & subconscious herd mentality that accrues the hate for no reason other than being part of the "sheeple". What that meant instead was the grassroots growth & trending that happened to BTS from not only good fans in SK, but also worldwide. That is how BTS grew to what they are now, the international fanbase probably moreso than within SK, but with the help of said good OG ARMY in SK. However, with BTS' global popularity came racism, nationalism & xenophobia. But we can thank the haters, anti's, racists & industry critics. BTS & ARMY just absorbed that hate in the same way the Incredible Hulk absorbs radiation to get bigger physically & more powerful, heh. As the essay also showed, the BTS fandom not only helped absorb hate, but came to respect what BTS has stood for, especially when BTS wore the metaphorical bulletproof vest for them, as they defend ARMY & in turn ARMY has vehemently defended them for good reason, sometimes interpreted as being said "toxic" by non-fans. Hope that made sense, heh.
Recently, for more positive news, there were several footage from US TV news channels shown on TH-cam showcasing ARMY camping out for days at Chicago Allstate Arena ahead of Yoongi's D-Day concert. It would be cool to see Jim search & watch each one & react to them. HOWEVER, I am unsure though if those news station channels might block you. Be careful. But the most important thing to realize about that is that thousands of US television viewers who know nothing about BTS & AgustD might get their senses & curiosity piqued about all this hoopla because you rarely see such huge lines & camping for a concert on the news nowadays, except maybe over a decade ago for 1D & Bieber fans, etc. Of course there will also be the aforementioned haters as usual, either directly against BTS or just due to said xenophobia & racism in the US. But they will see a diverse group of BTS fans & long lines, so that at least that might be saying something.
As far as who's next for the military, it could be Yoongi before end of year, who might become a civil servant instead due to his old injury. Or it could be RM. Again though, it's better if they go through this rite of passage. Service might be 18 months, but it's going to look like a short time, when we look back on it years from now. For BTS to become actual military soldiers is a flex unto itself, because as I've said many times, they were a military themed concept from the very beginning, thanks to Bang PD. Now it's come back full circle, they were destined to fulfill their band name.
And I would not be surprised if BTS returns embracing more rock-themed music composition & perhaps more metal music elements, who knows. Perhaps they may also help revive South Korean Nu-Metal & maybe get some help from Seo Taiji. Maybe one day in the future, the following video might actually come true, but in their own style & lyricism of course ... th-cam.com/video/Ps-lFWTGgBE/w-d-xo.html At the same time, I don't want to set them up for that kind of expectation, so I will leave it as that, heh. They will make artistry however they want.
By the way, I also love the Beatles & grew up on them because my parents listened to them. It is actually common sense & logic to compare the rise & similarities between Beatles & BTS. This includes the global mania. And the mop-top, aka bowl cut! It is fate & destiny. And probably also divine providence. And is not the saying "You don't find BTS, BTS finds you" not already somehow mysteriously coincidental & divine itself? As I have stated on TH-cam in the past few years, the wordplay that I came up with years ago possibly shows this fateful tie between these 2 bands, half a century apart: Beatles + BTS = B e a T l e S (note the eerie symmetry of the letters).

totally agree i have the same thoughts. but i found out that it´s also the label who send fans to do their dirty work. they will pretend to be a fan and then spread a rumor. and they would all hate on BTS. it used to work and it did in korea. fans in korea know the big 3 have all the power and you can´t survive alone.
and many fans didn´t even want to listen to them because of that. but they got huge numbers of sales in korea because karmy would buy alot of albums for army´s overseas who didn´t have acces to them. army would team up and pay for shipment. so i understood why people was suspicious of their succes at first because it was like invisible buyers. army used to be very connected because of BTS msg they trusted eachother and that movement grew. it also started the translations. karmys must really love BTS so much to do this, and still do it.

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@lealarsen2017 ... And with those "dirty" labels using people to try to usurp ARMY & BTS probably proves my point of absorbing hate, because in turn eventually all that underhandedness backfired on them. With the aforementioned collective coordination of ARMY, they got down to some detective work & figured those things out. As the years progressed, BigHit got more "big" & "hit" harder. At one point, the Big 3 became the Big 4, as BigHit equalled them in profits, relative to when BigHit was nothing in 2005-2010. Today, Hybe is bigger than the former Big 3 combined. So it's not the Big 3 anymore, it's the Big One. They finally "hit" it "big" & that is of course because of the symbiotic relationship between BTS & their fandom. But sadly the hate continues. However, that hate is now being compensated with huge success. The power of the bulletproof vest seems to be working.

Personally, I would feel so scared. I think he should take action against whoever it is that sent him food. Sorry for the rant. I just don't get how people treat them like this.
When I worked at a airport lounge I've seen some famous actors. Like aqua man and I just bused his table and didn't freak out when I asked if he wanted another beer.

They can't take any action. SK law makes harassment and stalking a misdemeanor with a small fine. There is nothing criminal about it in SK law like in many western countries.
It's why saesangs are a huge thing there. There is no real consequence to their behavior. All celebrities in SK have had to deal with these obsessed and scary people.
Hybe and many other entertainment companies are pushing for a law that makes this behavior criminal. Of the law goes through, then these people can be charged, get a criminal record and either go to jail or get civil service. At least they'll get real consequences that affect their lives.
