Here's a different take on Spanish traditional guitar with Manuel de Falla and the Duo Carmesi: th-cam.com/video/PMywMM8Nf8s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tlr6YOjixPv9IVnx
I come from Spain and I am an intermediate guitar player. From the technical point of view all the techniques that he uses, Alzapua, picados, arpegios, rasgueados, trémolos, are flawless and play with such an ease that it is hard to believe that it is possible. I saw him in concert 4 times in 4 different countries and all the different audiences from very different countries were at awe and speechless after his concerts. In the last concert that I saw him in Anaheim, Orange County I saw Slash, Joe Perry, Otmart Liebert, Strunz and Farah, and many classical guitarrists from LA (The Romero brothers and others) at the front rows in the audience. After his concert the main theme at the lobby of the theatre was "How can possibly be" "It is beyond belief" my girlfriend at the time that loved classical guitar music and it went to many concerts said to me "This guy plays to the Gods, not to us"
I do thank you for bringing out Paco's videos since extraordinary musicians like him deserves a lot more appreciation than they get. Also it is kind of good you don't talk much about flamenco techniques otherwise those videos would take like 6 hours each with all the stuff going xD Much respects
Greetings! It is always a pleasure to visit the world of Paco! I try to keep it pretty simple when it comes to talking about the technical side of things because like you said it would take hours just explaining picking techniques alone...lol Thank you for stopping by and dont be afraid to suggest a song or artist we should share with the class!
Amazing as always! The title of this buleria is just Almoraima,as the LP where it appeared in 1976.I don´t know why someone put the "falseta" word in the title of the viedo.Falseta means the guitar break played by the flamenco guitarist between the verses the singer sings.A sort of small solo to allow the singer to breath and prepare for the next verse. It´s nice how Paco quotes some bars of Manuel de Falla´s music here.
tbh it confused me being there was wasnt a singer but I assumed it may have been in reference to what the song was about so I'm glad I'm not the only one scratching my head on that one, I will remove that from the title, thank you for the heads up! Its a beautiful piece I'm glad we added to the Paco playlist! Perhaps the OP thought "falseta" also applies to solo guitarists as well 🤔..lol
This was his ground breaking album, which made him stand out from the crowd. Then Almoraima - this particular buleria piece - was the jewel in the crown.
@TheKillogicEffect it was incredible, the crowd was at a fever pitch! Al Di Meola played the guitar with his teeth, 😂 he plucked on string anyway, and the fans laughed. Their speed was incredible, as well as their coordination. It was one of my favorite concerts.
Fantastic reaction as always, I really enjoy the analysis you do after the videos. I imagine you get hundreds of suggestions and you can't attend them all, but since you always seem eager to watch new videos of Paco de Lucía, I would strongly recommend "Paco de Lucia - Recuerdo a Patino (Alegrias)". It's a beautiful piece and a masterful display of skill. Greetings, and keep up the good work.
Thank you I really appreciate that!!! Yeah I have started to physically right them down for some artist such as Paco because the bookmark tab is getting just a little out of hand...lol Thank you for the suggestion I really appreciate it I have been enjoying learning about Paco and his music it has really been a fun journey!!!
This version of Almoraima is a mix of several songs. The following are the originals for your enjoyment. Almoraima (Vídeo) 3:56 th-cam.com/video/uE9C82wR-1Q/w-d-xo.html Almoraima (Original del Album) 5:27 th-cam.com/video/fccZqn5XToE/w-d-xo.html
What a genius! watching Paco, playing the guitar seems so easy. He had an innate skill to feel the music and becoming in another instrument, awesome as always! Thanks for your reacts!
Check out "Friday Night in San Francisco". It's a concert with Paco, Al di Meola and John Mc Loughlin. The 3 of them are all brilliant and they are just having fun.
More Paco please , he’s amazing , he begins this buleria with another song or what later beacame Gitanos Andaluces ( badass song too ) great alzapua display (alzapua and rasgeos are the flamenco secret weapons per say , I don’t think is used like it in other guitar genres. There’s another vid of Paco doing Almoraima were he plays an entire falseta with an oud , spectacular , he was a force not to mess with, i ve read about 5-6 books about his life and always was a rebel to the core . Check out the songs , Rio de la miel, Antonia ( his daughter) Casilda ( his first wife) El Pañuelo ( the handkerchief) Camaron the rondeña dedicated to his best singer ever , he did 10 albums w Camaron, not 1 but 10!
@@TheKillogicEffect cambiando "un poco" 😉el estilo, mira a ver si puedes reaccionar a una banda española, Stravaganzza, con una versión de "Hijo de la luna" de otro grupo español
You can still see Paco playing in concert. Grisha Goryachev is for all intents and purposes a perfect replica of Paco and he plays his pieces not by not, in his actual pace and style. So, you can still experience Paco in this one available form, live ;) *but Grisha has no original pieces, he's a replica and interpret of Paco and Sabicas.
So...the "Bulerias" (Bul-er-EEa) is a type of song, called a "palo", It has a 12 beat rhythmic cycle. For western players it's easier to think in small groups: 123,123,12,12,12 with the accents on the "1". It refers to the rhythm essentially, so it's a bit like saying "let's play a blues", but which blues? Could be a million tunes.....Then you have to play the whole piece and tap your foot on the 2 and 3.......if you want to be like Paco!
I love Hendrix, Page, Vai, Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Angus, Van Halen, Henson, Frusciante, Mayer, Gambale, Govan, lot of good and amazing guitarrists.. But Paco no one like Paco... Even I watched a video of Yngwie playing "Entre dos aguas"
All that and he is humble which is more than I can say for other great guitarists! Just because you know you are the shit doesnt mean you have to act like it and I think thats what I really respect about him the most outside of his playing he just gives off that "I'm just a simple man with a guitar" vibe! He lets his skills and talents do the rest! Always so fascinating to watch!!! I will have to look for that Yngwie playing "Entre dos aguas" if there is video of it anywhere!
Yeah, I thought I mentioned something about but perhaps that was the last one we did. I have talked about how they mic his foot as its not only an addition to his playing like another instrument but its also his own personal metronome!

Learning about him later in life makes me look at a lot of musical pieces and guitarists in a whole new way!
the falseta Almoraima starts at 7:07, it;s the actual beginning of Almoraima piece.
