    Just got 1.1m timberline roller for my B'day 😎😎😎 Tbh this gun's a work of art.... I'm totally stoked owning this machine from RA. The missus will have to move over and make space for my new love tonight😂

    Dear Rob and team, I finally got a chance to try a timberline roller 1300 and I love it! ♥️
    I'm a big fan of RA brand and still got my first carbon SUTO which is already 14+ years old (if I'm not confusing) and it's still performing well. I got a black mamba 1300 as an upgrade, keeping SUTO as a backup gun. I really enjoy the maneuverability of the carbon guns (hate the recoil though :)) )
    But since I've matured into a more experienced diver, and been chasing bigger fish, I've noticed that I'm missing power and distance with my carbons comparing to wooden guns my friends got.
    At the same time you announced the Timberline, and I thought that might be it. When they arrived to Australia I was a bit disappointed with the pricing, so decided to postpone the purchase and bought a Riffe Marauder 63 instead.
    Riffe is a beautiful gun, but it's different to what I used to - handle, how it shoots, how it behaves in the water, etc. So switching between RA and Riffe was taking some time to adjust, meaning a lot of missed opportunities while adjusting, they're just 2 completely different guns.
    Finally, I saw a great deal for Timberline Roller 1300. I didn't plan to buy a roller, didn't really enjoy the idea. For me , those were too complicated, too difficult to load, etc. I'd prefer to load 4 rubbers than load a roller. However, the deal was sooo good forcing me to reconsider. I did some research and found out that you fix the issue with the load difficulty by adding 2-steps loading, and some people use these rollers as all around guns because they can adjust the gun power loading it to the first or second hook. The loading speed is quite good 👍 loading to the first hook is quite similar to loading one banded gun.
    Long story short, I was impressed with the gun performance, accuracy and shooting distance. Today, I got fish that I wouldn't be able to reach with my 1300 2-rubber guns, and i was shooting from the first hook!! I cannot imagine how far it would go from the second hook (couldn't load it on the second hook today, need some more practice). I should say, it's the best gun I've tried so far and I tried quite a few from different manufacturers, brands and ranges.
    Yes, you could use it all around, but I believe for the cave shooting SUTO and Black Mamba will do a better job, missed a huge Mangrove Jack in a cave today while pulling the Timberline against the current. Hence, SUTO for caves and Timberline for blue water, Mamba and Riffe will go to other good hands 😀
    Just wanted to say that you did really great job with these guns, and you broke my patterns twice today! Hopefully the gun will continue impressing me.
    P.s. I got one jam today, the line stuck between a roller and the rubber stopping the shaft half way. The bottom rubber also popped from the hook. But I believe I was excited loading it and perhaps didn't secure the line well.
    Thanks and thanks for great videos!

      Many thanks for your in-depth review. Yes, rollers are prone to "roller fouling" if the lines are not set up tight. The longer the gun the more the spear line, the more likely it can happen. This is why we now offer a finned spear with the option of attaching the shooting line outside the rubber. This keeps it free from being trapped under the rubber.

    Amazing! Offer one of those in 90cm with your roller head, 120cm 6,75mm shaft and 14mm robbers cut to 390% and make it available in Denmark - I will buy it 🤙 I am using your carbon rollers now, but the biggest weakness is buoyancy especially in shallow water where we sometimes hunt with the gun parallel to the seabed most of the time. Looking forward to following the development, Rob!

    Is there anything that you're willing to reveal about these "triple band" guns?

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is in development. Making the muzzle is the easy part. the problem is the increased load on the trigger. We have had to modify the trigger and sear such that it will feel the same as a double rubber gun. A 3 rubber gun will apply 33% more force onto the trigger and therefore will have a greater trigger pull. We have made changes to this to make it feel the same, simply by changing the contact points of the sear lever.
