I've always preferred Zero's play style. X is fun, but I find destroying stuff from a distance with a blaster boring. It's more fun to get up close with a sword.
Zero's playstyle is fun, but he's too broken. The game is harder with X so that makes it better for me. It might be easier to destroy stuff from a distance, but you need to evade way more if you want to beat the game like that. And X's movement is amazing

Bottom line, Zero's death was suppose to be the end to all...including the pain X has felt since the first game. Also my opinion, the zx games should have never been made.
